The best thing about this hotel was the restuarant. The manager there was so friendly there and was always willing to serve ... us. Other then that the hotel was not very good. The place was crawling with bugs. The towels were durty and the water cups never got changed to clean cups. The maids would place new towels over the durty cups and leave them there like we would not notice. The shower head fell off and we had to put it back on. The water was cold and our phone did not work. After complaining about these problems they still where not fixed. On the hotel web site is advertises a "Spa". This is actually only Yoga and Pilates classes. Then the safety deposit boxes that the hotel say's you can purchase are located in the hotel lobby. You cannot get a safe in your room. I would not recommend this hotel and will never stay there again

Divers home away from home

The staff was very quick to solve an airconditioner problem (pool of water below it after first night). There were no other ... problems. I would say it was a notch nicer than most diver hotels I have stayed at. Rooms are large and kept very clean. I have heard some complain about hard beds in all the hotels in Cozumel but I sleep on a temperpidic at home and I had no problem sleeping on the king size bed. They included breakfast so I could get up, eat and dive, just the way I like it. I wanted to be able to have a dive operation that would store and handle my gear (I hate dragging it around every morning and afternoon) and Villablanca and Scuba Mau next store were the perfect combonation. I gave them my gear Saturday afternoon and next handled it a week later. Scuba Mau had it on the boat each morning, had it properly weighted and set up. Sweet! They took the BC /tank upon completion of dive so I could easily climb up the ladder unencumbered. Their level of service was unbelievable. The dock literally across the street offered nice shore diving so I could hop in any time. My parameters were a clean hotel with adjacent dive shop that would rinse, store and haul my gear and also provide convenient shore diving. BINGO, Scuba Mau and Villablanca were winners

Very good dining found across street and also up a short walk north at the Blue Angel. Be aware however that many of the small restaurants only want cash. Dollars are fine but unless the bill is over $15. they don't want to process it or can't and have to have cash so be prepared.

adequate efficiency hotel for divers that need only a bed, air, tv, & wifi. There is a pool but lots of young kids in it if ... you catch my drift. Very good location to blue angel dive shop & poppa hogs. if you like to walk you can hit the chedro, mega then town center. recommend good walking shoes.. otherwise the staff was pleasent & accomodating.

If you are not in the mood for mexican food we were pleasantly surprised to find one of the best italian resturants in mexico. I would rate it 5 stars. its name is Sorrisi and its menu and meals rivals that found in any 5 star italian resturant in NY, PHL, etc. The owner & chef are italian and have done a first rate job with the interior, menu, etc. The ice cream deserts are phenominal.. it is on 3rd avenue off the main drag. you can not miss it.

We did like staying at Villablanca as the location is great. Diving ops right near by, snorkeling, good restaurant on site ... and 2 nice bar/restaurants across the street. Also, there is good parking access. The downside was a dirty pool and walkways were littered with iguana droppings often. We've been traveling to Cozumel for 18 years and have stayed at a variety of places. For the money the Villablanca air/hotel package was very good. We had a nice room in the back courtyard. In the past friends have stayed in the suites and they are very nice. Our room included a frig and was nice and clean. However, there was no hot water unless you leet the water run for a long time. One thing I would have liked is bottled water in the rooms. Most hotels offer this service. Aside from a few little things I would definately stay here again!

We have stayed at Villablanca before, and find it to be an adequate hotel at a reasonable price. You have to deal with a ... few things that may not be well maintained, but the staff is always attentive and willing to help. For example, on this trip the electronic keys to our room failed 3 times on 3 different days, so the maid had to let us in our room. When asked, they gladly gave us a new room and all was well. The Villablanca is reasonably well located within walking distance of town for those that don't mind a casual 45 minute walk (about 2 miles, but slow walk because of the heat). Lots of taxis (70 pesos or $5 USD) for those that want a ride to town. The big advantages for me are the friendly staff, the safety, and the reasonable price. We feel safe leaving our valuables like laptop, MP3 players, etc in the room, and I just can't imagine having a problem there. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and they provide unlimited free bottled water (my wife and I are runners and the free water probably saves us $50 a week). For divers, my favorite dive shop, Paradise Diving, has a location right across the street. We will almost certainly stay there again.

This is a great hotel .We had a superior room and it was very large. The bathroom is absolutely great! There is also a hot ... tub at the front it is very romantic, especially since the hotl is so private that there hardly is anyone walking around at night. We walked downtown many times, it's about 30 minute distance or you can catch a cab for about 4 dollars. I would reccomended walking along the shore as it allows you to see things better. The staff is sooo friendly , they will give you advice on what to do or how to get places. They even allowed us to check in three hours early with no extra charge, we also broke a glass and let them know that we would pay for it but the owner said not to worry about it. Very Clean, the air conditioner was not loud at all, and the water was very warm.

Older hotel that was very, very clean. I had a superior room and the hotel was kind enough to accomodate my request for a ... 2nd floor room. The room was quite large with a nice nice fridge. There is a 24 hr store next door to get beer, snacks, etc. The hot tub was warm, which I have never found in Mexico but it was nice. Plenty of hot water almost immediately after turning it on. Knob on the right is hot water in Mexico. Balcony door lock was broken, there were two locks on front door. Great friendly staff. Very convenient for diving with Scuba Mau!

It is not a fancy hotel but that is not what I look for. I did have some problems with the air in my first room and was ... moved to another room the second night. The second room had a funny smell, but its Mexico. I did have a problem with wake up calls that were forgotten or done without a schedule so I eventually unplugged the phone and just used my cell phone alarm. I didn't spend a lot of time in my room but when I was there it was very comfortable and clean. The view from my second room was very beautiful and the room was huge. I really think if your looking for an economical well located hotel this is a great value. It is more catered to the taveller and scuba diver. I only ate breakfast at the restaurant and it was very good. Affordable, good selection, and fresh. The staff were very nice and helpful but they did have difficulty booking tours for me so I found them through the local dive shops. There is a great beach club across the street where I spent my afternoons. I really never needed to leave the area so the hotel was in just the right place. There are three dive shops and a dock right there. A minny market half a block away and plenty of snorkeling. I will definately go back!!!

Hotel far from most activities, unless you are a scuba diver, and then just a short walk across the road. The room we were ... in looked like it was made in the 50's or 60's, not in a good way. The maid only changed our sheets (new) 3 times when we asked. The other times we thought she was changing them and she was just flipping them around to make it look like she had. The bathroom had saltwater coming out of the shower, no tub. The positive side to having a saltwater shower was it was great for your nails and cuticles. We had to asked several days in a row for pool towels and they had several excuses why they never had any. I think I finally got some on our 10th or 11th day. We also had to walk up to the front desk and have someone turn on the hot tub, which sometimes wouldn't happen even when they said they'd be out. The restuarant was independent from the hotel and took cash only, would not charge it to room, and no room service. The closest food place was at a hotel about 3 blocks away. At check in they were to give you a free bottles of water, but if you don't ask you don't get. They rent scooters, but it's through a third pary and we witnessed several different people getting ripped off. Don't fall for the timeshare trap from the guys at airport pitching free car rentals and tours etc. Anybody not accepting a credit card or check card and accepting cash only is a scammer. Stay at your own risk!

When we first got there to check in we both looked at eachother like it was gross. Then we got into our hotel and It reminded ... me of a bad motel room, the bath/shower (what ever you would call it) was disgusting, we showered with our sandals on. One day when they cleaned our room they took the comforter off and we never saw it again. There were bugs everywhere,I couldnt sleep at night in fear of the bugs crawling on me. we complained and asked if we could get a better room, they said they were all booked. and there was nothing they could do, but they will let us know in the morning, but still we didnt get a room. I finally convinced myself I could stay in the room and just get through the sleepless nights. Then one night I saw a huge line of ants crawling over the headboard and on the coffee table, that was it for me. We told them again, and still they said they couldnt do anything about it but tomorrow there might be something open. I couldnt bare the fact of sleeping in that room again. but I did. Then the next day we got a new room, that they must have been holding out on us because it had a kitchen and stuff like that. It was a lot nicer, however the bugs were worse in this room. So overall I think This would be a horrible hotel to stay in, The hot tub wasnt hot it was a warmth of a regular pool, the breakfast is cheap but it was cold. Two thumbs down.
