Perfect Lover's Getaway
Pepe Aug 26, 2009
The Victoria provided a nice and quiet atmosphere, perfect for any getaway. Anyone who stays at the Victoria has access to ... the sister hotel, La Gran Ventana, which had many more restaurant and bar options. There's a section on the beautiful beach, Playa Dorada, that is closed off solely to those residing in the Victoria. There is a Plaza nearby, where you can find stores and more restaurants that are not all-inclusive, but offer more variety. Not to mention, every night the club El Coco Bongo is LIVE.

Great Place - Great Deal!

This hotel is not located on the beach, but it's only 5 minutes walking to the beach or the hotel provides a shuttle. The ... beach is not "white" sand, but it's still very nice. Lot's of wind during the summer. The Victoria has two pools, one large pool for all ages and a small adults only pool in another location. We were lucky enough to also have complete access to their sister hotel the Gran Ventana which is more "active" and has the "animation" features that many look for in a resort. If you book at The Victoria, you get the best of both worlds. Food was good, sometimes great, mostly average, not for foodies, but great for most. Nice little pizza restaurant!

Go to the small plaza near the hotel to book your excursions and day trips. Just make sure that whatever you trip you buy includes ALL fees and equipment and you'll save $100s! We paid $100 for the very same trip, very same tour operator that was offered at $180 at the hotel.

Great value!

Overall, for what we paid, it was a bargain! We reserved a Jr. suite with a King bed and 2 double beds. When we checked in, ... they said they don't have rooms like that. I told them to inform Orbitz. Otherwise, our room was fine. We had two double beds for three adults. I got the bed for myself![...], the guest relations person is the sweetest person. As soon as we arrived, we called her to make reservations at their restaurants for dinner. She said they were all booked. I kept insisting and finally she booked us for Thursday and Friday. ( We stayed Wed., Thurs. and Friday.) The first night, when we showed up to the restaurant, it was a third empty! So the second night, our reservations were for 8:30 (she said that's all they had). I said to my companions, let's go earlier, I'm sure there'll be room. We went at seven and there were tables and we were seated. The food at the restaurants was wonderful. Best fish I've ever had!i don't know what the problem is with reservations.Liquor was included in our package. Most of it wasn't potable. I ordered a vodka tonic and had to leave it. Another time, I ordered a gin and tonic and I had to leave it. It tasted like gasoline. I stuck to the wine (which tasted cheap) and to pina coladas which were delicious. Finally, the staff was wonderful!Everyone was friendly and accomodating. All in all, for what we paid, we got a great deal.Oh, everyone else there was from the UK (we're USA). They were wonderful. We talked with many guests. They were very friendly and cheerful and made our stay even more enjoyable. Also, the entertainment was very good. The Michael Jackson Show was absolutely terrific!

Insist on dining at one of the restaurants that has menus. They call it a la carte as opposed to buffet. We only went to the buffet for breakfast.
