Great Location in Barcelona

We spent 3 days prior to a cruise and one day after at the Tryp Apolo. There is a metro station right outside the hotel and ... 2 bus stops within a block. We were able to travel all over the city. We walked 3 blocks to catch the port bus to the cruise ship. We were out at night and early morning and felt safe. I was told about people who had their pockets picked but we never felt threatened. We were however aware of our surroundings as we would be in any large city. Our first room was on the 3rd floor and yes you could hear noise[sirens,etc] from the street but it didn't bother us. The second room was on the 6th floor a bit better and a great view of the city. Another reviewer complained about the size of the room following a cruise but I found our rooms had plenty of space and a large bathroom. When we had trouble with the safe someone came up right away to fix it. I found the staff very helpful.We were able to check in early each time.When we returned to the hotel after the cruise we were about to store our luggage until we were able to check in. When we return to Barcelona I plan to stay at the Tryp Apolo again.

Following a cruise this room seemed a bit small but was adequate. concierge services were good but varied according to staff ... on duty. Hotel is conveniently located for cable car to Montjuic, Nou La Rambla, airport. Beware of taxi drivers who were not all honest. Bellmen were helpful when called upon. Convenient to public transportation.

The foot of La Rambla is only a 10-minute walk from the Tryp Apolo. Lots to see and watch. Public access restrooms are very scarce. Avoid the side streets after dark.

If you want to have the breakfast buffet at the hotel make sure that you pay for this at check in as you will receive a discounted rate at that time.

Very comfortable and convient to the cruise docks...22 Euro taxi ride include 4 pieces of luggage and 10% tip. We ... arrived at the Tyrp Apolo at 0900 (ship docked at 0700) with a posted 1300 check in time, front desk worked with house keeping and had us in a room by 1000! Metro station a short block away.

This is a good location for downtown exploring and only a 10 minute taxi ride to the cruise ports. This worked out well for ... us. The only problem was the taxi rates which varied greatly during our visit.

Nice room, good location for seeing the sights

For the price, the room was a good size, and both the room and bathroom were kept neat and clean. I stayed on the 6th floor ... of the hotel, the view of the city was beautiful and I had no noise problems at all. Around the corner from the hotel is the Metro stop Parallel, and it really is just a 5 minute walk from the famous 'Las Ramblas', so it is in a good location for getting around. The walk from the hotel to Las Ramblas may seem a little scary at night, but you are generally safe as there are numerous policia cars around. At the south end of Las Ramblas you can find a tourist center. (Buy the Barcelona Card for a deal on public transport and discounts to museums and some other attractions). Also, if you're hungry, all you have to do is cross the street and there are lines of restaurants/cafes that serve food well past midnight. Oh yes, and the staff does speak English.
