We were originally booked at the Best Western in Virginia Beach. [...] had promised us an ocean front room with balcony, but ... when we arrived we found he had actually booked us across the street in a room infested with bugs overlooking a dumpster facing the parking lot. We got a great price for a Hotel on the boardwalk. It did not have an ocean view. The add said pool view. We had no view from ... the room at all. The windows went out into a hallway. You had to go in the Hall to view the pool. The room was very clean and freshly painted (poorly painted) and had an old smell to it. Matresses were stiff and worn. I believe we got what we paid for and had a great time though

I checked in at 3PM and was told the parking for the hotel was "just over there." It turned out to be two blocks away and I ... was coming back afted midnight. I wasn't going to run an obstacle course of drunks so I paid for secure parking at the next door hotel. To save time in the morning I picked up some microwaveable breakfast items. The microwave didn't work. The door to the balcony was wobbly and warped, hard to operate. As it wasn't a ground floor room, that wasn't a big deal. Standard rock-hard hotel mattresses here.

The Hotel needs major renovations. It was dirty and didn't smell good. The front desk people were always helpful. We were ... there for the Neptune Fest, and we have stayed in alot of Virginia Beach Hotels. This was one of the worst.

We went during the Neptune Festival. After reading the 1 star reviews, we came prepared with lysol,pine sol and our own ... sheets. When we opened the door, we were pleasantly surprised. It was a good hotel with a great location. The staff were all friendly and helpful. They couldn't believe the great Orbitz rate and knew they had to honor it. They even gave us a later check out time! The going rate was 3 times what we paid! Thanks Orbitz. BTW, we stayed poolside, not oceanside. We thought that maybe the oceanside rooms got better service, but everyone was friendly and helpful there!

The location was excellent. The room was a huge disappointment. Limited parking was a block away. Elevator worked only ... sporadically. Shoddy repairs throughout building and in our room - Lockset on room door not working, Lockset on patio door did not work, smoke detector fell out of wall when door closed. One chair for the entire family to sit in. No table to put food on. Very musty and mildewy smelling, leakages evident throughout the room. We travel quite a bit and aren't fussy but this was a huge disappointment and we would not return. Room way too expensive for what it offers.

WE CHECKED IN AND GOT TO THE ROOM AND HAD TO FORCE THE DOOR OPEN. THE ROOM SMELT LIKE DIRTY FEET AND STAIL. THE REMOTE TO THE ... TV DID NOT WORK BECAUSE OF NO BATTERIES. WE WENT THERE TO ENJOY THE SITES AND ACTIVITIES. THE ROOM WE GOT DID NOT MAKE ME WANT TO USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN.

The hotel pictures on the orbitz site were very deceiving. The hotel room did not have a window overlooking the pool. The ... window overlooked the hallway. There were holes in the walls and little "trap doors" in the shower. The pricing was high for the quality of the hotel. I would not stay in Tropicana again.

This is not a 3-Star hotel as stated on Cheaptickets.com. This is more like a 1 star. The rooms were smelly, like wet ... carpet. The furniture was outdated in both the room and lobby. We did have to request another room in which they charged an additional $35.00. I am glad the weekend is over.

The hotel was in a great location. It was easy to find. The room was not really that clean. There was a tooth pick on the ... floor when I arrived and bits of paper around the bottom of the floor. The hotel and the room smell like musky mildew. I went out and bought cleaning supplies and things to cover the smell. The people at the front desk was very nice and helpful.

There is a bar across the street called "Envy" that is a nice place to hangout and watch a game or mingle. The tacos are very good as well.

We have NEVER taken a trip where hotel accommodations were so poor. We absolutely would not have stayed for five minutes if ... we could have gotten our money back. We are surprised we didn't pick up some kind of a disease. They furnished one cup of coffee per person each morning. I think they should furnish at least two cups per person. I contacted the office to inform them about the three chairs that were broken. The legs on all three were broken and we COULD NOT sit on them. When I went to the office to complain, the desk clerk said she'd report it to maintenance. I never saw maintenance all week. I really do not think they had a "maintenance" department because the parts of the hotel that I saw were a dump. Please taken Tropicana Hotel & Resort off your hotel recommendation list. The finish on the dresser and nightstands was peeling off and the bedspread should have been thrown out ten years ago. Thank goodness the maids kept the sink area and the toilet and bathtup clean. We are VERY disappointed with Orbitz for sending us to such a place and we will NEVER make hotel or vacation plans through Orbitz again and we intend to pass the conditions we had to stay in to our friends and acquaintances.

This Hotel was out of the movies.... You know the pay by the hour ones... I will never go back and suggest that no one else ... does. When you go to check in you sign an agreement that says if you are not happy with your room you must return the keys with in twenty minutes to get a full refund. Because we pre-booked our trip that was not an option for us. So we had no other choice but to stay. If you are reading this be aware before you book it is bad really bad.... We had to hold our nose in the hall do to the smell of urine. I am a smoker that was not the smell we were smelling. I could continue forever but I am not going to. Please just don't make the same mistake we did go somewhere else...

Was at the hotel for the extended holiday weekend. Was supposed to be there for 5 nights and ended up only staying 4 nights ... and was moved into 4 different rooms. Only positive event for me was the room I was staying in, wasn't part of the rooms that were robbed.
