Vegas Frequent Nov 19, 2009
The Tropicana Hotel in Vegas is a great location, but the hotel is VERY dated. They are planning a much needed renovation in ... Spring 2010, which I'm sure will cause the price to go up. $112 was an average price to pay for a Sat night in Vegas, for average accomidations. The mirrors above the bed gave a great sense of 1980...so if you like that kinda thing! lol

Awful Rooms
Frequent Las Vegas traveler Nov 17, 2009
We were told the hotel rooms had been renovated, well they must have missed our two rooms. The rooms were spacious and ... roomie, but so old and worn out it was dreary.. The bathtubs / showers were cracked and falling apart, and so narrow that a man barely has room to move his arms. The beds were hard and very uncomfortable. The buffet food was also very disappointing. Very disappointed, left early to check into a different hotel. Would not stay here again.

Get what you paid for
Hec Nov 17, 2009
A run down hotel, for $30 more you can stay at the tower, which I suppose are newer and have interner access (internet is not ... free mind you). No HBO in the room, pretty much a standard anywhere else. One electrical outlet was quite past its lifetime, I was afraid it would cause a fire or something. Like I said you get what you pay for... Since I did not spend much time in the room, just to sleep I guess it did not matter. Wrote the review for the benefit of others.

good location, not the greatest of rooms
gbshaun Nov 16, 2009
i'd stayed before for business, and the room was in the tower, facing the strip. Nice room. This time, with my partner, we ... paid extra for a better room (not the top level, not the bottom)but it was in the back of the tower and facing nothing. No worries, but the room was old and tatty with low ceilings. I called and got changed to a room in the Paradise tower. I think it was even older, but was much larger and had a bit of a view. Next problem was that our room was never made up, even though i called down at 6pm and told them. So basically they twice failed to come and clean or bring dry towels.

What a dump
Tim Nov 6, 2009
The front desk staff was polite when checking in. The room was itself was old and very dated. It appeared the room had not ... had a major cleaning or make over in quite some time. The white curtains wer black and I was afraid to take my shoes off in the room. It was so bad we decided to check out early and head to the airport to catch our flight home. When checking out we expressed our concerns to the hotel staff at the desk and they totally did not care. While I like the location on the strip. This room was very subpar for a Vegas strip hotel and I would not stay at or recommend this hotel to friends or family.

"Unbeatable location for the price"
Kaiya's first trip to Vegas Nov 6, 2009
The best things about our hotel was the great location and the hypnosis show that was complimentary with our stay. I will ... say that the hypnosis show at the Tropicana is a great show. Once the hotel finishes their remodel the hotel rooms will be nice and up to date but right now the rooms are no better than a motel 6. The pictures of what the rooms will look like after the remodel are beautiful and I think that once the remodel is complete the Tropicana will be one of the better hotels to stay at in Vegas.

Enjoyed our stay
QTPie Nov 4, 2009
We stayed at Tropicana & enjoyed it. We'd definitely stay there again. The $24 buffet for 24 hour period was great! It's ... not the biggest or most luxurious buffet out there but for the price we couldn't beat it. They had a variety of meats each day, such as turkey breast and prime rib at the carving station, build-your-own omelette station, fish, among many sides & delicious desserts. The pools were nice, though the larger pool was closed because of the time of year. Suited us fine, we just wanted to catch some sun anyway, and since the large pool was closed we pretty much had our choice of patio area.
Traveler type: Couples
The $24 buffet per person was for a 24 hour period. You can dine as often as you choose to within that time. The food was good and the champagne served with breakfast on weekends was a special added touch.

great location and price
Lindar Nov 1, 2009
This was my second visit to the Tropicana in 18 months. What a difference! Remodeling and looks great. Very reasonable ... rates and location is unbeatable for the price. Only thing I wish they provided was a coffee maker in the room. Location is great to visit New York, New York, Excaliber, Luxor, Monte Carlo, etc... Easy walking distance to everything in area. Rooms are fairly large, clean. Try to get a room facing the strip. It's a beautiful view in the morning and at night, especially with the mountains in the background. Was happy the first time I stayed and will definitely stay again.

Visit the Valley of Fire and Red Rock Canyon. They are beautiful and just a short drive from the Tropicana.
