As a wheelchair user I was disappointed that there are steps inside the front door of the hotel; but there is a small "lift" ... elavator that, althought it had glitches, accomodated me. The hotel is within walking distance of Old City, China Town, The Franklin Institute, and a variety of restaurants. I would describe pretty much everything else about the hotel as fine, and, as such, it is a good bargain over, for instance, the Holiday Inn.

If you're not from Pennsyvlania but want some local taste, there's a market just around the corner that is enormous, filled with every type of food (mostly local/organic) and staffed almost exclusively by the Amish.

Not Worth it
kaley Oct 6, 2009
Was in ok location, but was not worth how much we paid for it, and the next night paid the same to stay at the Comfort Inn on ... the water with an outstanding view. The rooms at TravelLodge were tiny and the place was very dingy. The only thing nice was that there was a continental breakfast. Would pay more money to stay somewhere else.

Great cheap hotel for a not-cheap price.
Roadside Freakshow Jun 15, 2009
The Travelodge at the Pennsylvania Convention Center is your typical commuter-style hotel. Unfortunately, you're paying about ... the same price as you would at the Hilton or Sheraton just down the road, but getting much less. The Travelodge offers no parking, forcing you to park at a near-by outdoor public lot that will run you at least $20 a night. They will not offer any sort of hotel discount or validation. They offer free wi-fi which only worked for about one hour out of my three day stay there. It is currently across the street from an enormous construction project - the kind that even if you're on the top floor, there are still construction workers just outside your window. If you're attending something at the Convention Center, the location is perfect. But, as stated before, there are other hotels that are much nicer at the same price.

Hotels in Philadelphia are very expensive. So I wasn't expecting much for $130 at a Travellodge. The room was fine and ... seemingly clean. The bathroom worked fine. But I woke up with bug bites. It ruined the trip.

the best thing about this hotel is that it's within walking distance to all the things you'd want to see. Unfortunately it ... was directly behind the convention center, which was under construction, so when you looked out the window, there was invariably a construction worker looking directly back at you.

The walls are so thin that u can almost hear everything! from other rooms. You can't have internet access in some of their ... rooms and you may need to go and sit in the lobby or basement. Prices and location are great. You can walk to everywhere in 5-10 minutes and there is a parking area just behin the hotel(about twenty box/nite). You can't compare the cleaning with a 3-4 stars hotel, it is OK for a couple w/o children. It is very close to Chinatown and just behind the convention center. Go and have you breakfast outside the hotel. It's a good place for one night.

The Travelodge on Race Street in Philadelphia may have a convenient location, but the rooms were smelly, the beds were hard ... as rock, and the manager was surly. The manager was rude and unhelpful. Our room had no window that opened to the outside, so we couldn't even air it out! Very disappointing experience :(

Comfortable and Friendly
Robert Sep 26, 2007
The Philadelphia Travelodge was very comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. There was a good selection of ... items for the continental breakfast. There was quite a bit of construction going on in the neighborhood because the hotel was just behind the convention center and that was being expanded. But the construction really didn't cause any problem. The hotel was within three blocks or so of a train station which made for ease of travel to and from the airport, and was also within easy walking distance of several historical sites and restaurants. The only negative might be that the hallways and rooms could be spruced up a bit, e.g., carpets, bathroom grout, etc. All in all we had a very positive experience there.

The hotel was adequate for a nights stay but had no resturant and the staff was unable to give me any directions for a bite ... to eat. The rooms were clean and provided the necessities. The location although close to the convention center would not be a place you would want to venture out at night by yourself.
