Removed, quiet and inviting. The Sandpiper Hotel and Suites is a vacation of relaxed, tropical solitude embraced by an uncommon level of genuine hospitality. It's the soft rustling of sea grapes on a balmy gulf breeze, a quiet breakfast of muffins and coffee at your table overlooking the sea, an afternoon of soaking up the sun by the pool, a tranquil respite with that book you've been meaning to read. Enjoying the Sandpiper Hotel and Suites has to offer...Guests have told us their room is just a small part of their Florida beach experience, so we eliminated many incidental charges and include those amenities that make a vacation truly special in the Resort amenity fee, a required nightly fee. The Resort Amenity fee ($25 plus tax nightly, per unit; multi-bedroom units and penthouses $35) includes: daily $15 parking fee, Wireless Internet Access, $1 each local, toll-free and operator-assisted phone calls, use of fitness centers, beach cabanas, business center computers and printers, incoming and outgoing faxes, and other resort amenities as well as daily newspaper delivery and in-room safe. The Resort amenity fee enhances your vacation with many amenities, eliminating many a la carte charges.

The hotel was beautiful! The front desk and housekeeping were 1st class! The Bermudas restaurant food was not worth the ... price. The delmonico I ordered was mostly fat and grissle. The Kid-Zone staff were very unpleasant. They did not interact with the children unless the parents had a question. They were very rude when asked to assist with projects. They trap you with a $25 per day "resort fee", which you must pay before check-in. It did not included anything helpful (unless you have a vehicle to park). A mojority of the "kids-zone" activities cost extra. They nickle/dime you to death. It's a nice place to stay if you want to enjoy the beach, but that's it.

My son and I stayed five days. He went to see the U2 concert and retrace some of the places we visited in the area when he ... was a child. I went to scout out a place to stay this winter to escape the cold and snow. The Tradewinds is starting to show its age but is still in pretty good condition overall. I thought the $25 daily ammenities fee was excessive but if you travel with children and use more of what they offer, maybe it's fair. I would probably stay there again but I would do some comparing of other hotels in the area like the Sirata.

The hotel was great and I really enjoyed it. Nice kitchen in our room, good location, nice beach and pool. Did not like ... resort fee plus the fact that they froze my credit card "in case" I had room charges. That is not right, freezing a card for "possible" charges. Had to call credit card company and have desk clerk speak to them to unfreeze my card.

I went to Treasure Island for a few days to relax by the pool and the beach and to get some reading done. I was able to do ... exactly what I wanted, the view was incredible and the weather was spectacular, the view of the ocean was great with lots of marine life and dolphins in the shallow water 2 different mornings while I was there. The staff was very friendly and the resort was exceptionally clean. I had a great time and plan on returning in 2010.

Great beach wedding and honeymoon!
newlywed Sep 14, 2009
This was our second stay at the Sandpiper. We decided to have our private wedding on the beach near the hotel. It was a great ... sunset ceremony. We were upgraded to a beachfront suite for our stay and that was great. We always enjoy breakfast at the pipers patio. For lunch and dinner, we go to the local pubs and restaruants. We had a great time at "the cockney rebel pub". Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere to say nothing of the beer selection. We also went to Pass-a-grille to the Wharf for a couple of meals on the waterfront. I can't say enough about the staff and atmosphere at the Sandpiper. I will be back again!

Great Views, Good Service,$25/Day Fee
Steve B Aug 27, 2009
Had Gulf front "suite" that was updated. Preferred king bed but had only 2 doubles. Kitchenette had some supplies but no wine ... opener. :-) The views were spectacular and the staff very friendly. Requested they fix a slow drain in shower and never happened. This is a great location but St Pete Beach is seedy and old but the beach was beautiful and the hotel and pool was up to date and comfortable. The sister hotel a block away where you can visit is much larger and not as quiet. They charge a daily activity fee, but we didn't need or use the facilities, so probably wouldn't return

Honeymoon Paradise
Honeymooners from PA Aug 3, 2009
We honeymooned here and the staff was nice and the place was beautiful! We upgraded for cheap once there and had a beautiful ... sunset view of the Gulf. The only thing to watch for was we did not know that you can use your room key for discount on all drinks and food on the hotel grounds...20% would have saved us a bunch w/ food and drinks! I found out about this 2 hours before we checked out, ask for details when you check in. I would send friends here any day, it was a wonderful trip and friendly housekeeping was a bonus. Also there is an amenities fee that is unavoidable so use the facilities and get your dollars worth.

long weekend getaway
disappointed Jun 9, 2009
when I checked in I was told of a $25 fee, which I found at at checkout is a daily amenities fee. The only amenity I used was ... parking. Because I was not told the fee was daily when I checked in, they accomodated the daily fee. Very nice. On the other hand, my room with a "courtyard" view overlooked the parking garage. The entrance to the room (which was so small) is on a catwalk. The only window in the room opened onto the catwalk. A lovely view and a bit noisy. All of the amenities are in a sister hotel down the street.

I loved the hotel, the location, the service, the room! We got there and were greeted by a very kind and helpful front desk ... lady. She was unable to give me my room immediately (arrived too early)but gave me a Guest card so went to the beach until the room was ready (probably took 20 min). My room was very nice and extremely clean! The location is awesome, everything you need is around there. For those going with the family there is all sort of activities- even slides on the beach. For those adults there is bars all over the beach- you could even bar hop if you wanted. There is local restaurants as well, tried snappers right across the street and food was amazing! There is no doubt that on my next visit I will be staying at this hotel again! 4 1/2 Stars!

The room was a little on the small side but we didn't spend much time there. The coffee in the morning was really high ... priced as well as the meals at the hotel. Better pricing outside of the hotel. We also had to track down one of the maids on our last day as they didn't replace the toilet paper and we were completely out. The service was good and the rooms were clean. The beach was the best. We had a good time.
