The hotel promotes nearness to Heathrow Airport & available shuttle services...... Yes, it is near to the airport, ... however.... A - It's location is difficult to find, & the tel # either doesn't answer or gives confusing directions. B - The rooms are confusing to find / their are no luggage trolleys because no matter which floor you go to, steps & stairs are involved. We know of no elevators. C- The hotel does NOT have a shuttle service, but there is a bus service to & from terminals 1, 2 &3 every 20minutes, but you must pay an extra 4 UK pounds per trip. WE had to use terminal 4, & we were advised by the hotel that trips to terminal 4 were unreliable, therefore we were recommended that we take a taxi, { which we did}, costing 15 pounds !! D - We went to the restaurant in the evening, only to be told we should have pre booked!!. We were lucky in having to wait only 30 minutes, but many many people had to wait much longer which we noticed, & the Major Domo was most indignant all the time in his greating to ALL guests. Food & service was poor. E - Rooms are cramped, but OK, however some of the fittings in the shower & Toilet needed repair. F - Not an Hotel we recommend.

make sure you get good directions,as the hotel is 200 yds down a side street off the bath road and not visible.it took us a ... over an hour to find it by asking a least a 20 people.the hotel also charges $18 per night for parking.from the hotel,we drove to london and also took the bus and subway, which cost $15 for a day pass it was also no problem.we checked out the local pubs and watched soccer games with the locals.all the people were very friendly.

THE HOTEL ITSELF WAS ADEQUATE, ALTHOUGH THE ROOMS ON THE SECOND FLOOR WERE NON SMOKING THE ENTIRE CORRIDOR SMELLED OF STALE ... SMOKE. I WAS ON THE SECOND FLOOR - NO ELEVATOR - I HAD TO ASK SOMEONE TO TAKE MY CASE UP THE FLIGHT OF STAIRS. THE HOTEL IS A SHORT DISTANCE FROM HEATHROW AIRPORT, IT DOESNT TELL YOU IT TAKES ABOUT 20 MINUTES FOR THE SHUTTLE TO GET OUT OF THE AIRPORT. I WOULD NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN

Incompetent Staff
Paulette Oct 26, 2008
After arriving to the hotel via bus shuttle, I began the check-in process. Im not sure if a new staff was hired recently but ... no one seemed to know anything. The staff kept referring back to the manager for answers. Other than the staff not being on target, the hotel was reasonable based on the price and the free bus we found up the block was perfect for getting us to and from Heathrow airport. If you love to walk then it is about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the hotel to the airport.

Very noisy
Mohammed Oct 15, 2008
The room was not spacious & was small. The bedding linen and bathroom towels appeared to have been recently used as they were ... either soiled or had wrinkles or crease marks and was not done properly. The room door was not insulated. Every now and then noises can be heard from anyone speaking in the corridors and very annoying especially when trying to sleep after having flown for 10+ hours. It had most of the standard fringe items available in a 3.5 star hotel but lacked the desired ambiance. I do not intend to return or recommend anyone to this facility unless it is the last option. The location ia good. The public bus service was avilable within a short distance.

Convenient location--Cozy & comfortable

The Thistle London Heathrow provided us with a pleasant, comfortable one night stay for a day layover at Heathrow. Hotel ... staff were accomodating--the porter came upon request to set the room heat. The morning wake-up call didn't occur, but the taxi that was called for us grub might have been a more ecwas timely. Overall, we were please with the arrangement.

Check out the pub menu before deciding to eat in the restaurant next to the lobby. The meal there was o.k., but the pub would have been more economical.

Not much around immediate vicinity. Good place to stay if on a short layover while traveling. Shuttle to airport - couldn't ... get pickup from airport as they did not go to terminal 4. To and from terminal 1 was great, inexpensive. Restaurant in hotel, food was ok but expensive. No other places around.

An adequate night
phillip Sep 15, 2007
The Thistle London Heathrow provided an acceptable night's stay. The shuttle from LHR was less convenient than other, closer ... hotels. Check in was normal to slow but acceptable and the room was clean but small. I didn't have time to check the breakfast service or other amenities so can't comment about them. As mentioned above, the hotel is further away from LHR than other hotels but the price is slightly lower to compensate. In all, it was an acceptable night's stay but not one I would recommend for an extended stop.

Allow a half hour wait for the shuttle to and from HLR and be sure to have a ticket purchased previously or enough cash (pounds sterling) to pay at boarding.

Trrived late so food options were limited. The hotel was safe and comfortable. The room and amenities were average. Hotel ... located on the Hoppa route so convient to LHR. Only real complaint - could not access international operator of my choice. Hotel staff could not help so I think hotel blocked access to all but its choosen vendor.

Good location
Pamela Aug 16, 2007
I asked at check-in if they had a converter for American plugs. The person at the desk told me they had them in a vending ... machine upstairs. I would have had to change money to British pounds in order to use it...I went and checked, and the adapters were only for European plugs. Desk personnel were unaware of the difference. The room was tidy, but not especially clean. The carpet in the long, long hallway was musty and apparently not very clean. HOWEVER, the Thistle is close to Heathrow, the shuttle is very convenient, and the price is lower than some of the other nearby hotels. That's the essence of the choice. If I had to watch my money, and time was limited, I would stay there again. If I had time and could find my own place I probably would.

We had an overnight lay over in London, arriving at 11pm and leaving at 8 am. This hotel met our needs in being close to the ... airport. It wasn't anything special beyond that. I was surprised that we had to pay for the shuttle to the airport, but that seems to be the custom for all the airport hotels.

Anna May 18, 2007
THe Heathrow Thistle is an old hotel near Heathrow, in need up updating. It has a old-cigarette smoke smell, like a bar. ... That smell is everywhere. For someone who doesn't smoke, it was very very string. The room was small and poorly appointed. The TV was no larger than 13 inches. The tub shower liner was moldy. And the shower had two settings, cold or blazing hot. We did finally get the shower to be a comfortably warm, only after 15 minutes of tinkering. After the shower, the faucet leaked for the rest of the night. Nothing we did got it to stop. We opted not to call only because we checked in at midnight and were told we got the last room in the place. I can guarantee that there was no handy man there. The cost to call the US from the room? 2 bucks a minute, not including the connection charge. Since we got in at midnight, we could not buy a phone card until the next day. Decided not to phone our kids, because 2 bucks a minute is mercenary. They charged us an extra 28 bucks for parking. Which by the way was a joke. The lot was full, so I parked it right next to the A/C unit on a grassy patch. There was absolutely nowhere else to park. People double parked, or parked in fire lanes, etc. In fire lanes, can you believe that??? SAve your money, do not stay here.

There is a wonderful restaurant down Bath Road called the Three Magpies. It's a pub with pub grub. The bangers and mash were superb. Prices are reasonable the the entrees were huge. The staff was friendly, and food arrived promptly. They have parking, for free, and have comfy couches, as well as seats to sit down on.
