LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT

We were overwhelmed at the helpfulness of the entire staff from the front desk to the spa personnel to the resturant staff. ... There was not ONE employee who wasn't helpful and eager to please and assist us. The rooms were quiet. Bathrooms were beautiful. Getting our car in and out of valet was quick and effortless. Absolutely could not ask for better service in any area there and we tried most of the things the hotel had to offer.

Restaurants associated with the hotel are fine dining and very expensive - not much to offer in the way of reasonable eats (e.g., within per diem allowances).

When me and my boyfriend visited, wanted to enjoy as much seafood and local cuisine as possible while we were there. Some of my favorite dining spots I visited were: Bayside Grille in Key Largo: wonderful coconut shrimp and key lime pie! Guacamole Restaurant in Hollywood, Florida: delicious, authentic Mexican and Cuban cuisine Pa Degennaro's Gourmet Deli in Lauderdale-by-the-sea: the best paninis and pizza I have ever had Bubba Gump Restaurant on Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard: even though it is a chain restaurant, the food my delicious, beautifully plated, and the service was very welcoming and delightful

Exceptional Hotel. Excellent Location
LifeIsBeautiful Sep 7, 2009
This hotel was exceptional from the friendliness of the staff to the awesome pool, to the beach. The rooms were amazing and ... the food was excellent. Be prepared to pay top dollar for drinks (about $15 a drink out by the pool) and food.

THe hotel is beautiful and the room spotless and elegant. The bed was truly heavenly, as advertised. The service throughout ... the property was exceptional (although it is a very expensive place - they charge you for everything!).

Paradise!
Samimc1 Aug 25, 2009
This was my first time visiting Florida so I wanted it to be special. After seeing the Westin Diplomat online I thought this ... would be a great place to stay. My arrival confirmed this...the staff welcomed me and my boyfriend as we arrived, opening the door for us into the hotel lobby, the front desk quickly and kindly checked us in, and once we entered our room it was beautiful! Perfectly clean, contemporary frosted shower and bathroom doors, a luxury bath overlooking the bedroom area and flat screen television, complimentary Starbucks coffee...when we went to the pool area it was like a tropical paradise with an infinity pool, a second pool area below with two waterfalls, and a private area of the beach coastline reserved for Westin Diplomat guests only. The hotel is within 25 minutes driving distance from South Beach and 15 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard and Las Olas Boulevard. This is just close enough to the nightlife, but when you want to wind down, the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood, Florida allows a tranquil environment and laidback break. I just got back from my vacation yesterday and am already planning on my return in the spring. Highly recommend!

They had a noisy constraction going on right in the middle of the pool area. We had to deal with it for all 5 days. First day ... I asked how long is this going to be they answer only today...??? Then my son (20 years old) and I went for sushi inside the hotel and we were refused to be surved at sushi bar becouse he was under 21. He only wanted sushi, no drink!

Shari Aug 20, 2009
We enjoyed the hotel very much. The bed was the best we have ever had when traveling. The room was clean, the staff was more ... than freindly and helpful. A microwave in the room would have been nice, I was told one couldn't be put in. The parking was either self or vallet, both had a charge. We chose the vallet, and the car was brought up quickly every time. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning

Great trip -- couldn't ask for much more
trav Aug 16, 2009
All in all, we had a great time. Very clean, and relatively quiet for the number of families around. Personable and ... friendly staff, if somewhat 'generic'. Drinks are overpriced, but we expected that going into the trip. Our one gripe was that we couldn't find much to do on our one rainy day there -- there's nothing going in within walking distance of the hotel. But the beach and pool areas are top notch! Great for relaxing and unwinding.

There's a WalMart less than a mile away (google map it) -- we found it our first morning, and walked over to get a feel for the area. Pick up your snacks, booze, and bottled water there, and you'll save a decent chunk of change.

Every year my best friend and I try to take a girls only vacation. We use Orbitz so we can try different hotels/resorts. ... The Westin Diplomat Spa and Resort was beautiful! We had a gorgous ocean view and enjoyed the pools and the beach. This hotel was by far better than any of the previous trips that we have taken (including the Ritz Carlton!) You will not be disappointed by this property.

Nice hotel but . . .
Cookie Jul 20, 2009
Was there for a dance competition. Hotel too expensive for average family but they brought rates down at the last minute. My ... only pet peeve is that some guests were given preferential treatment. For instance one Mom raised holy hell and was able to get a ocean view room without having to pay extra. She was told there were plenty available that week so she didn't have to pay. When others asked they were told they would have to pay extra. Even though I talked with the hotel manager of the day [...] I still was not satisfied with the how the situation was handled.

If you are on a family vacation with kids, go to the Walmart and the local supermarket (Publix) which are both a short walk and purchase snacks and beverages (and alcoholic beverages for adults, if you are so inclined). The restaurant prices are priced high, particularly for hotel food.

Fair room price, is the bait to attract clients. Bring plenty of cha ching you will need it if you want to do anything else ... within the hotel like eating or drinking. $4.00 for a cup of soda, $25.00 per person for breakfast. Parking $25.00 per day, beach chair $20.00, etc. Westin Diplomat aka "Hotel ala carte" Nice hotel but not worth it.

Miyako Restaurant. A left out of the Westin front entrance (valet area) or a right when exiting the parking garage. Only $13.49 per person all you can eat sushi and Japanese food. I think we went here 2 or 3 times while in Hollywood, FL. The service is great, food is tasty and you can sit outside in the warm weather. You simply write in how much you'd like of each item and they bring it right to you. It's a short drive, you'll be full and so will your wallet!
