Most beautiful beach I've ever seen
Kris Aug 26, 2009
Our primary interest was SCUBA diving. We chose to use the on site dive shop for the convience (RED SAIL). The dive staff ... was competent but not overly friendly, for a service provider I don't know if I would recommend them. There are other cheaper SCUBA shops. We loved the Westin. It was very clean the pool area was beautiful and the location on 7 mile beach can not be beat. I would return to the Westin with out question. As a matter of fact I am planning my return trip.

Wonderful Experience
CalBono Aug 11, 2009
My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary at the Westin in Grand Cayman. I have been going to Cayman since I was a ... little girl with my family. My parents would rent a beach front condo (which if you can afford it, is absolutely the way to do it), but the Westin was a fantastic hotel alternative. We loved the pool and the hot tubs, especially the swim-up bar. The frozen margaritas were delicious! We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at Ferdinand's restaurant. We celebrated our anniversary dinner at Casa Havana --- outstanding service and food!!! (also pricey, though) The Westin has a beautiful beach - perfect location, and much less crowded than the nearby Ritz Carlton. The hotel uses the Heavenly bed collection, and it was just that! The bed was so comfortable. The carpets throughout the hotel are a bit dingy, and the although the bathroom was very nice, it is not the most private. We would most certainly go back! We were able to get an ocean front room that overlooked the pool and the sea... so worth it!

The Calypso Grill is the best restaurant on the island. You can take a cab if you don't rent a car. Beautiful outdoor setting, and really cool indoor seating. Overlooks the harbor. Everything is delicious.... go to Calypso for a magical evening!

Great Location
Juanma Jul 23, 2009
The beach is the hotel's best asset. It is absolutely perfect. White sand and calm crystal clear waters. Watersports were on ... site, including diving. The Havana restaurant had great service and food. The island is very expensive. A villa or apartment would probably be a better deal for a family. Seven mile beach is excellent. Overall, we had a great vacation and I would recommend the hotel.

Beautiful location, overpriced rooms
Teacher Lee Jul 21, 2009
This was a family vacation. The Location was great, Seven Mile Beach right outside your hotel door! We spent most of our time ... on the beach, participating in a variety of water activities around the island. We swam with stingrays, and dolphins. We also went on a snorkling sail and submarine dive. We went to many of the tourist attractions on the island. What would have made our stay more enjoyable is if the hotel rooms were described and rated more realistically. The rooms were very expensive for what they were. To us, it was a very standard room, for a very upscale price. For instance, the rug and towels were stained, the pillows uncomfortable, the shower and bath leaking, etc. We have taken trips in the past and stayed at nicer hotels and stayed at others not as nice. To us, the definite selling point of this hotel was the location and the beach!

The Great Grand Cayman
Charmieme Jul 20, 2009
I really enjoyed my trip to the Grand Cayman. I appreciated the telephone calls from Orbitz about my flights being on time. ... Everything was great at the hotel and the beach. A very clean island. Very soothing and rejuvenating at the hotel. I would definitely recommend to my friends and family the beauty and tranquility of the Westin Casuarina in Grand Cayman Island. The people are very friendly. The island so refreshing. I went swimming everyday and I was given a personal tour by a native angel I met on my flight down to Grand Cayman. I would definitely use Orbitz to plan my next Paradise Getaway. Thanks again Orbitz for a wonderful vacation.

Great Hotel but not typical Westin
Cayman Lover Jul 20, 2009
Hotel is very nice but the hotel needs a little touch up. its nothing that will make you think less of the hotel but you do ... notice it if you look into detail like i do. The hotel isn't as great as a normal Westin but the beach and pool here is amazing and isn't that the only reason you really go to the Caribbean for? I wouldn't pay $300 a night for it though, I paid $150 which i thought was very reasonable (actually a deal for the cayman islands) This was my second trip to this hotel and I definately would come back. Overall Very Good.

Go across the street to EATs Cafe, its cheap (for Cayman) and very good and has almost every type of food. Also save money by buying your own liquor and then adding them to the virgin drinks, it will save you money!!!

Jenn Jul 16, 2009
The purpose of my trip was to relax and that is exactly what the Westin provided. The hotel was quiet and peaceful and the ... staff was friendly. The beach location was perfection except that wasn's any shade by the pool and ocean. The offered cabanas to rent but were too pricey. The food was delicious both at the pool and in the restuarants.

Great Hotel for Swimming
JOHN Jul 7, 2009
The Westin Casuarina was a good hotel. The Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Upon checking in ... to my Ocean View room I was disappointed in the view which was of the Parking lot and the roof of the Casa Havana, no ocean in sight. I immediately complained and was upgraded to an Ocean Front room which had a beautiful view of the pool and Ocean. Pay the extra money and booke the ocean front room. The only problem with the room was in never got cold the AC just didn't seem to be doing its job. The Hotel was clean but lacked certain amenities that most hotels provide for free today such as internet access. They wanted $1 C.I.($1.25) per minute for a very slow internet connection. Also, if you drink Beer and liquor it can be very expensive. It is cheaper to buy your drinks from the liquor store across the street and bring it back to your room. Skip the breakfast at the Hotel. There is a Very good and inexpensive restaurant across the street where you will eat well for half the price at the hotel. Splurge one night and eat at Casa Havana. It is expensive but no more expensive then eating out in New York. The food was phenomenal. Overall I had a good experience and truly enjoyed the beach where you can see sting rays and turtles in the reefs right off the hotel. Just ask the staff were the best place to snorkel is. If you are a swimmer and love the beach this is the place to go.

Not really worth it
Beach lover Jul 2, 2009
Overall, we were dissatisfied with the hotel. We had read some great reviews & were really excited about going, but when we ... got there, we were disappointed. Our first room, which was supposed to be partial ocean view, was somewhat dirty (stuff splattered on the mirrors) and dingy. Our view consisted of looking out onto the hot tub which was surrounded with "caution" tape & a bucket of chlorine. You could see the ocean if you stood on your tiptoes in the corner of the patio door. Our first evening, we were looking forward to sitting out on our patio & watching a storm roll in, however, there was a couple in the hot tub 20 feet away...awkward. The next day the hotel graciously moved us to the second floor which had a much better view of the ocean, but was still not that clean. The decor seemed outdated & the room was in need of some repair (the carpet was separated from the bathroom tile, leaving a gap that hurt if you accidentally stepped on it, our bathroom wall had brown stuff splattered on it, and the towel rack was oxidized.) All little things that could have easily been taken care of & would have made the room a little nicer.
Traveler type: Couples
Casanova's, an Italian restaurant in Georgetown, was our absolute favorite place for dinner. It was reasonably priced ($15 CI for spaghetti) and the atmosphere was really neat. We sat right on the water & they had a harpist that came around to play songs at each table. It made for a cozy, romantic evening.

Excellent over all resort. Fantastic beach, nice property, upgraded room to ocean front on check in.[...] at the front desk ... knew me by name and greeted me the entire stay. [...] gave an excellent massage at Hibiscus Spa. One downside is that food and drink are overpriced as you would expect at a hotel property. Nothing surprising here but if you want to budget your travel funds, I would recommend eating off of the property.

Across the street from the Westin is the best family dining on the island, as verified by all the locals that eat there. The breakfast there is super and the hamburgers are half pounders and huge proportions for all meals. And the prices are the best on the island. Cost of most things there seemed to be about the same as in US but the CI $$ is +25% over the US dollar so plan to pay + 25% for everything.
