"Excellent location to chill out"
Watak Nov 2, 2009
The Westin Resort Aruba is set in an idyllic location on Palm beach facing white sands against the turquoise ocean. The ... Westin Aruba is a first class hotel offering a high standard of accomodation and service. The quality of food was found to be of an excellent standard. This was a great location to chill out, take in some great sights, get involved with the water sports or visit the excellent local shops or designer stores. This was one of the best holidays we have taken and would have no hesitation recommending this hotel.

hotel is great location for local restaurants and shopping. the rooms priced as ocean view were not as good as expected. my ... view included a bit of the ocean, a roof top, and a parking lot. the room was a great disappointment. if i had known i would not have paid the extra cost for an ocean view. the balcony was very samll and cramped, so we acutally did not sit on it to enjoy our tiny view of the ocean.would have preferred a more open breezy atmosphere in the hotel. unfortunately this hotel and the description posted on the net did not meet my expectations.

Nice getaway
CJ Oct 14, 2009
My husband and I went for our wedding anniversary and an event at a close by resort. Check in was quick and easy. Once to ... our room I opened the amenity fridge and the previous guests were nice enough to leave their leftover food in the fridge, which stunk up our whole room. When I called to have someone take care of this problem the lady I spoke with was not helpful and somewhat rude. They came and removed the food, but the smell stayed with us for our entire vacation. The room itself was nothing special but the bed was comfortable. In the bathroom, the bathtub was peeling. Taking a bath would not have been an option and it did not give me a felling that it was clean. The restaurants at the hotel were great. However room service food was not very good and they were at the time we were there not offering any late night options. Our room overlooked the pool area and there was always something going on at the pool that was loud in our room. We were woken up several times by bingo numbers being called out or morning aqua aerobics and one night there was a private event with a horrible band that went on until 11 pm. I loved Aruba and the beaches were amazing, but I would not stay here again.

Overrall the hotel was a solid value when compared with the other options, but I did have a few gripes: The beach access for ... the hotel was great, but I did not like how we had to ask for beach chairs and then tip the people who gave them to us. I can get my own beach chairs. I also didn't like that we had to pay additional for floats if we wanted to use them. As for the pool, it was clean and nice but very unimpressive when compared to the other "High-Rise" hotels. My other dissapointment came with the concierge service. Out of the 3 people who we dealt with, only 1 person was helpful and knew what she was talking about. As for the others, I knew more as a "first timer" in Aruba.

Good location for the price
Eric 322 Oct 7, 2009
Well the hotel is nice and clean. The location is very convience. Got Wendy, McD and some good resturants less than a 1/4 ... mile away. The beach area is nice and clean. The water is clean and clam. What I really don't like about the hotel is the Azul resturant. I felt like I was paying the price for 4 stars dinning but the food is not even close to 2 stars. Don't try it. You get to eat by the beach. Look nice and feel nice. But the food is very dissapointing. Beside that the fast food they serve is alright. The all you can eat buffet breakfast is very good too. The Island is a desert. The palm trees they have are imported. Not much historical sites compare to Cancun. The tours they offer are also much more expensive than the ones in Cancun. But overall the island is very nice and clam. The locals people are very nice.

Expected to pay lot of tips. 17% service charge on each bill. The waiter that served us expected us to pay extra tips too. This rule also apply to all the local resturants. The 17% is share by all the staff and the extra tip is for the waiter that serve you. Overall I think Aruba is very expensive. I spent avg about $110 per night for dinner for two. I bought 2 breakfast meals in McD and that cost about $12. I live in NYC and I never spent that much in McD for 2 breakfast meals. Avoid time share sales person at all cost. I still couldn't believe my wife gave away our room number. Thank god I was leaving. The sales lady was calling us for two days. Don't do it unless you are intrested in Time Share or the freebies they offer.

The Westin Aruba Resort
Honeymoon Sep 28, 2009
We were there on our honeymoon and when we signed up for some tours with Pelican Tour Co. downstairs we mentioned this and ... the employee then sent a note to the front desk. The next day we received a complimentary bottle of champagne! Overall the hotel was great as it was much quieter than some of the surrounding hotels (namely the RIU). The only thing that they could have done better was provide more consistent room cleaning service. The sheets seemed clean, but they were old and had stains on them.

Loved Aruba & the Westin!!
Jessica Sep 11, 2009
This was our first trip to Aruba & definitely won't be our last. We were traveling with our 22 month old daughter & another ... family with kids 14 & 15 years old. This is a great family destination. The hotel did provide a kid's club but we didn't use it because it was for kids 4-12. That was fine, my daughter had plenty of fun at the beach & in the pool and she loved the birds they had in the hotel pool area. The lizards take some getting used to, but she loved chasing after them. We had a great experience with the hotel. We were upgraded to a Jr. Suite, which was nice because it gave us plenty of extra space with the baby. We didn't have an oceanview room, but were on the 14th Floor & could see right over the Riu & had a great view of the water!! We had one problem with the room - the door broke, but the maintenance people fixed it right away. We ate at Blossom's restaurant - which I think was the BEST dining experience of our entire trip. We also ate at Cafe Baci twice & it was very good. Other then that we ate outside the hotel - there are so many choices! (Dushi Bagels had great breakfast sandwiches & was much cheaper then eating at the hotel.) The whole Palm Beach area was really great, there was so much to do all within walking distance. Overall, it was a great trip - no complaints. We vacation frequently, at least once a year & I would definitely recommend Aruba & the Westin to anyone!

The staff was very welcoming, warm, and accomodating. I personally liked the fact that the Westin is the first in line on the ... "Hotel Strip" which made "beach roamers" few and non obtrusive. We had a very peaceful (which is their theme) stay. Of course the Westin is known to have the best beds, and our kingsize bed was "heavenly". Overall everything was wonderful. We didnt get a chance to enjoy their dining options but they do have a value coupon where you get more discounts as you eat there. We also opted for the $75 credit for about an additional $1.00 a day which was fantastic!

Walk the strip before deciding where you would like to dine. There are some really nice restaurants on the strip that don't apply 15% (china tax) to your food bill. I did not appreciate that tax!! Also the sound of the a/c unit constantly coming on and off bother me a bit but I guess the resort being an older remodel building is why that occurs. Wish travel agent had suggested newer resorts on the strip. I was totally fascinated with the Occidental & the Raddison!! I think Raddison would be my next stay!!
