[...]. We returned at check in time, 3:00. At this time [...] was not here but an equally incompitent young man, This one ... tells me there are no rooms available. I tell him but I have a reservation. He said there are no rooms availavle that you booked. Then he and a women behind the desk also got the idea to upgrade us to a another room. The upgrade was for a cheeper room with a Queen size bed. I paid for a King and unless they were going to give me a refund this was not ok. Suddenly there was a room I paid for available. I will not stay here again.

Dirty, Dusty, Dark Old and Run Down
Wiery Traveler Sep 3, 2009
Arrived at hotel and Sedan Driver mentioned that he had never dropped anyone at this hotel before (First Clue it was not ... going to be a good experience). Checked in, lobby looked like pictures not bad but not that good. Entered into elevator, dirty, banged up and delapitated. Exited on floor, dark, almonst no lighting in halways, dirty and beat up walls and carpet. The room was even worse dust bunnies everywhere, I was waiting to see some roaches or bed bugs. Bathroom was the only thing renovated in the room and it too was dirty and dusty.

Nice room on the corner of the building. Two issues, I think someone checked into the room but then changed rooms after using ... the restroom and someone had sat on the bedspread. That was a bit of a downer but happens. The street noise in my room was a problem but earplugs gave me a good nights sleep. Other hotels I've stayed at in SF have street noise as well. I'd stay there again. Staff is very friendly. Close to Moscone which is where I was spending the daytime hours.

i *heart* sf Jul 21, 2009
Overall, our stay at The Pickwick was good. Upon entering the staff was very friendly and helpful with answering any ... questions we had about the area. The room was small and cozy which was okay considering it was SF. For the most part the room was clean except we did find a strand of hair in the bathtub. That was a little disturbing. Also, our room faced a brick wall and a creepy alley way so we just kept the blinds shut. The walls are pretty thin so it can be noisy at times but it wasn't that bad. I'd say the best thing about this hotel is that it's at a great location! It's right next to the Westfield Mall and less than a block away from public transportation (bart, cablecar, bus). It's also in walking distance to most tourist locations in SF, such as Union Square, the Ferry Building, China Town, etc. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city.

We arrived at the the 3pm, which is check-in time, and we were told that it wouldn't be ready for another 15 minutes. The ... room wasn't ready until 3:45. The guy at the front desk was very polite and apoligetic about the situation. The TV in the room was very small and outdated, so was the clock/radio. All in all, it was an average stay at an average hotel.

dvshark Jul 5, 2009
Overall great. The robes and chocolate in the room were a nice touch. Staff was very helpful as well. The $32 dollar ... charge per day for parking is too stiff for overnight guests. This added over 30% to the cost of the room! Tub faucet was in poor shape, as was the water stream. Once you open the first window to the room and then open the second, you can see just how old the hotel is. I would come back though. Good Deal on the price!

Stayed there for 10 days for WWDC. The housekeeping staff were very friendly and remembered me and always made the room very ... clean with nice finishing touches. The front desk staff was very helpful as well. They are not very responsive to email, but in person and phone are excellent. The fitness center is just what's pictured: just 2 treadmills, and elliptical, and a stair master. No weights which was disappointing. It was a good stay and I would stay here again.

The Pickwick Hotel is in a great location for those looking to explore the city as both the subway and bus/trolly system are ... only a block away, allowing for easy access to most places. Double bed rooms were a little tight, but fine if you aren't spending all day in the room. Staff were friendly and it was convenient to have the business center and small fitness room available.

Good food downstairs off Lobby, an inexpensive restoration of an old hotel, beggars & homeless nearby on street, staff you ... could find were nice, room needed maintenance and touching up, vinyl windows that did not fit the frames...etc. Worth the cost ($) compared to others.

I don't like sit down dining for every meal...I'd rather have a one great dinner (or lunch) per day at one of the fabulous restaurants in SF. Many of the local groceries have delicious meat pockets- piroshkis, that make a great and filling meal for about $2.00 each. You will be drawing upon SF's Russian heritage when you eat one!
