ahh...how can you hate the little guy?
Awesomeness Nov 17, 2009
The Pelham has an awesome location! Close to everything- the quarter, harrahs, restaurants, shopping and that aquarium place ... that I didn't visit. The staff is super friendly. But- don't kid yourself, you get what you pay for, the shower's water pressure was pitiful and the room wasn't very clean. Although the Pelham wouldn't be my first choice, I would stay again for a short visit.

So-so hotel for the budget minded
trw Nov 9, 2009
It's not a long walk to the French Quarter or other sights. Hotel was clean but not sure I'd stay there again. Our room was ... right next to elevator and front lobby and it was very noisy. Our room had no window so it was dark and gloomy. The shower took forever to get hot water (like 15 minutes of letting it run!).

Take the trolleys and do your own touring vs. paying for the bus tours, unless you want a "guided" tour. Trolleys were fun, in-expensive and easy to use.

My husband and I stayed at the Pelham about 10 years ago, and really enjoyed the charm and atmosphere. However, on this trip ... we found the hotel lacking. The hotel needs a deep cleaning and general maintenance. We had trouble with our heating (was told to turn on all the lights to help warm the room), television, wall safe, and toliet. We even had to call to request a bar of soap. The staff was friendly, but service was very nonchalant. We would not stay there again.

love the quaintness
Gardie Oct 2, 2009
The thermostat would not change, resulting in the room being 76 degress , rather warm. A fan was sent up to the room , then ... the clerk,(being so NICE and understanding) found another room and Moved me. She was so sweet. I think her name was [...]. The room she moved me to, was much cooler in the 60's, therefore sleeping was much more comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff was More than accomodating. Thanks to them it was great.

good for the price
Sara Sep 27, 2009
It was a decent location near the French Quarter, about ten mins or so. If it was updated a little, it would have been great, ... the price was good if you don't care where you stay. The beds were okay, but the sheets and blankets left something to be desired, as well as the bathroom toilet, which was dirty. Would totally recommend for a group of college kids who are just there to party--bring extra pillows.

The Pelham in a 'nut shell'
Messie Apr 26, 2009
It seemed as though the hotel was under staffed it was very hard to get intouch with anyone at the front desk. Plus the ... cleaning staff needed work, we ended up getting fewer and fewer towels everyday, we finally had to call and request more, and then there was no one available to deliver them so we had to go to the front desk and pick them up, I've never had that happen in any hotel before.

If you want the Mardi Gras experience without as many people go during St. Patricks Day. There was an awesome parade plus the locals and the experience was wonderful, it felt much safer than Madri Gras!

We were there for business. Very close to Quarter, good restaurants, and streetcar. No Parking except for an expensive valet ... service, but that was made up for by the very low price of the rooms.

Needs some TLC
Elizabeth Dec 29, 2008
The Pelham was okay for the price. The check in took time and the staff could have been more professional. The staff were ... dressed in regular attire and somewhat unhelpful. We were in the room when the maid came and she said she would return. However, she did not come back. However, they were prompt the next day when we called to receive towels and a remote for the T.V. We received a really reasonable rate for the room and for the money, I would say we were satisfied. In my mind, the boutique atmosphere could be played up more. First, by fixing the ice despenser and second by fixing the air in the lobby.

This hotel is marginal. However, the desk staff however is friendly and helpful. First impression is that it's had better ... days, it's rundown. When I checked in there were dirty socks on the floor.

A wonderful New Orleans hotel
cynthia Apr 6, 2008
Upon arrival, the staff was friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. The room was clean and decorated nicely. It ... wasn't a large room, but it was well appointed. I liked the fact that the Pelham has free wireless internet in the room. The only negative to the room is the bathroom lighting being rather dim. We were located one block from Canal street and close to the casino. It was an easy, safe walk to Bourbon Street, yet being on the other side of Canal, it was a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter.
