A great hotel for a great price!

This may just be the best deal I've had in a long while. The room was fabulousvery comfy bed, spacious (especially for ... Honolulu), full kitchen, large balcony with a view of Friday fireworks and the ocean, large desk, sofa bed and plenty seating for guests. As for beach accessperfect! An easy walk down to the beach just past the Hilton lagoon or just a little further for magic island and it's less touristy beach. ABC stores on both sides of the hotel for all the incidentals. Ah yes, an adequate continental breakfast with muffins, bagels and pastries, cereal or oatmeal, an apple and coffee and/or juice. The only glitch was a lack of internet access in the mornings. The front desk suggested it was due to guest overload. But, it was a very small nuisance in the scheme of things. For the fantastic price I found on [...] I can't complain. Oh yeah, there is metered parking for guest right at the rear of the hotel.

One more thing - check out the happy hour upstairs at Sorrentos for a great view and good eats on a budget. The Chart House across the street to the rear also has great specials and happy hour deals.

We traveled to Wakiki from the Ilikai. It had a great location, and provided breakfast to get our day started. The staff ... were friendly and helpful. Howevever, there was no concierge to aid in our planning. The bathroom was not the cleanest I have ever seen, however it was easy to look past. I would stay again.

Great hotel for families!
Super Mel Oct 24, 2009
My family and I went to Honolulu for a relaxing family vacation. Our room had an ocean view with a kitchenette. It had an ... King size bed as well as a pull out sofa couch. We could not have picked a better hotel! The outside of the hotel was a bit dated, but the inside was very clean and well maintained. The rooms were recently renovated and quite spacious, and the balcony perfect for enjoying beverages in the sun or shade. It even over looked the Hiltons rooftop stage so we were able to enjoy their nightly entertainment as well :) The Ilikai has their own entertainment on Friday nights. We travelled with 2 children under 2, and the hotel was walking distance from the mall (10min), a playground over looking the beach (7min), the International market place (20min) as well as the aquarium and zoo (about a 35 min walk). There was also plenty of restaurants close to the hotel, buffets (some open 24hours), fast-food (McDonalds even across the street), Thai, Italian, Seafood, Chinese... You name it, it was close by... The Hotel restaurant (Sorrento's) had AMAZING seafood and a perfect view of the ocean/sunset. It was a a bit pricey for entrees (20-40$) but worth every penny. From 5-7 they have appetizer and 1/2 price drink specials in the lounge. As well, the hotel has a free continental breakfast that was not advertised when we booked our room... BONUS! Every morning, 7-9, we had our choice of a beverage, cereal/oatmeal/yogurt, bagel/Danish/muffin and a fruit. We also enjoyed the fact that we could swim in the ocean, the lagoon (shared between the Ilikai and the Hilton Hawaiian Village), as well as the pool. Shade is hard to come by on the beach, and our two kids wouldn't stay still long enough for it to be worth renting an umbrella for a day, so we found ourselves hanging out by the pool rather then the ocean more then we had expected. The only downfall was that beach towels were kept at the front desk and weren't pool side if you wanted to trade a wet one for dry... There is a bus stop as well as a trolley stop just outside of the hotel. Their are different scenic trolley rides you can take around the island, but we'll take that all in next time we stay at the Ilikai... We'll definitely return to this hotel again :)

There is a Food Land in the Ala Moana shopping center which is only a 10 min walk away. See the Customer Service desk at Foodland for a free membership card for additional savings :) Way cheaper then eating out every meal!!! Also way more cost effective then buying milk, beer and fruit at a corner ABC... Bring a small roller suitcase along to easily transport food and bevies back to your suite if you have a kitchenette:) As well, in the hotel (as well as almost every street corner) there are plenty of coupon books. Its worth picking them up and flipping thru them...We used coupons at a few restaurants, as well as the zoo and aquarium

Fantastic stay
meg Sep 28, 2009
A last minute booking for a reasonable price turned into quite a find. The ocean view room was spacious and actually had an ... ocean view you didn't have to break your neck to see. The location was right on the beach, very close to the shopping/nightlife strip of Waikiki but you never heard the noise (I cannot imagine staying in a hotel right on the strip). There are lots of seniors who own condos in the hotel so it was very quiet. Staff was 100% pleasant and friendly. Downsides? Bathroom was small, but who spends a lot of time in the bathroom? Internet service was out while we were there and not a lot of in-house shops. But right next to the Hawaiian Hilton metropolis, you can get all that right next store.

There for our honeymoon. Place is nice, great location. Love the built in kitchen, saves on food cost. The free breakfast ... is barely a breakfast. Parking cost $18 a day, not to bad, but still. Next door to the hilton so you can use a lot of their facilities. I might trying more in a central location on waikiki next time though.
