Good and not-so-good

I had many good experiences with the staff helping me navigate a strange city. However, a horrid stink in my first room ... required an inconvenient move; the staff was very accomodating and quick to respond to my need. The next big problem was that the flashing light on the smoke detector kept me up most of every night -- what is THAT about?! Only other issue was that nobody had any access to the housekeeping cart to refill my free coffee on a day I had to be out the door at 7:30 a.m. (which was 4:30 a.m. in my home state); I had to pay a lot for one little cup in the restaurant and that annoyed me. But problems aside, I loved the decor, it was a great room otherwise, and it was one of the quietest motels I've been in. Again, let me emphasize how helpful the staff was; if you figure out a way to can that intolerable light flashing, I will be staying there again! Thank you!

Nice Hotel
Leslie Oct 20, 2009
The hotel overall was nice-in a great location. However, we had been gone all day & returned at 4PM & the room hadn't been ... cleaned yet. I called the front desk & they said that someone would clean it now. I said that it was too late & just to give us fresh towels. Their policy is that the room will be cleaned between 8-5 but why would it take so long? Especially when this is a DoubleTree hotel & you pay more?

We stayed here the night before the Medtronic TC Run and it was a great location, just a few blocks from the start. The ... staff was very professional, kind and courteous. I would definitely stay here once again. The only thing I didn't like about this hotel were the pillows as they were a little flat, but the bed was so plush.

Great downtown location
lindz221 Sep 14, 2009
My finace and I travelled to Minneapolis for the weekend and really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Minneapolis. The hotel was ... much nicer than I expected, very clean and contemporary. The rooms had beautiful high ceilings so they felt larger than the moderate size they actually were. I appreciated the flat screen and HD tv when we caught a few minutes of college football. The bathrooms were very nice as well, the shower was large and the shower head was actually high enough for my 6'3" fiance to use comfortably. The lobby was decorated beautifully, and although we did not eat or drink at the hotel the bar area looked very nice. We didn't arrive until almost 1 am but the staff was very friendly and helpful, chatting with us about football and the fact that the president was in town.

Certainly, in the heart of downtown
Magui Aug 12, 2009
I missed an Internet room, information about events (eg, baseball schedules), and tourism brochures. However, the employees ... at the Front Desk, the bar and the breakfast room were helpful and sympathetic; and the maid service was excellent (and I am Latin, so I am not the best English-speaker!). I enjoyed my visit and I will consider staying again at this hotel if I ever go back to Minneapolis.

A review by a Minneapolis local....
Lindsay Jul 7, 2009
Me and my boyfriend were looking for a nice getaway in our own city. I booking a 3 night stay at the Hotel Minneapolis after ... comparison shopping for a few days. My one issue and pretty much my only issue with the stay was the parking situation. They offer a valet service right at the door which is great however when I booked the hotel they didn't mention that there was an additional fee to park this way. 27 dollars a night for parking. You do have the option of parking offsite and lugging your luggage around in the city but really who wants to do that?? The hotel is amazingly clean and tidy. The decor is wonderful and quite modern. Our room didn't have a tub but it did have this GREAT shower that was almost like a room in itself. The hotel was quiet and the beds!!!!! Oh MAN THE BEDS!!! MMMMMMMM the beds were AMAZING!!!! Comfy, soft bedding and the mattress was not to hard and not to soft.... The bed alone is worth staying here!!! We had requested a late check out and they accompanied us until 2 in the afternoon without charging us for an additional night. FANTASTIC!!! Oh and at check out you get free warm cookies!!! We will be staying here many times in the future, assured!

A Great Downtown Minneapolis getaway!
theroadlesstraveledguy May 8, 2009
My wife and I live in rural Minnesota so we occasionally stay overnight in downtown Minneapolis for the dining and ... entertainment. I have to say the Hotel Minneapolis is the best value we have found. The management & staff were first class and we loved the hotel décor but I do want to mention that our room did not a great view, on the plus side it was large, well appointed and immaculately clean. The location is not far from the light rail line that runs from the Minneapolis airport to downtown, and the Metrodome is only a few blocks away if you are attending a sporting event. Finally we have to mention the delicious warm chocolate chip cookies we received at check in

The restaurant Max in the hotel but you might want to check out Kierans Irish Pub which is across the street and has good reasonably priced food and live Irish music. Also the hotel has valet parking but we opted for the less expensive overnight self-parking about a block away.

Great Hotel at a great Price
Thrifty business traveler Apr 22, 2009
I was in town for a business meeting the Hotel is conveneintly located to Target's offices, as well as walking distance to ... the Metrodome. The hotel decor is very contemporary and up to date. The food and atmosphere of the retaurant were good. The road in front of the Hotel was under major construction and I'm not sure if that contributed to the great price on the room. I would definetley stay again on a return trip provided the rate doesn't jump considerably.
