Well, the best thing I can say is that you can't fault the location. This hotel is smack in Temple Bar territory (aka lots of ... great restaurants, nightlife etc.) and located within a short walk of Trinity College, the Dublin Cathedral, Dvblinia, and even within a 20minute walk of the Guiness Storehouse. It is also for sale as of Oct 2009, so perhaps the new owners will opt to massively renovate.I am a tolerant person and am aware that European hotel standards are significantly different than North American. However, this hotel was without doubt, the worst one (by far)we stayed at on a three week budget tour throughout Western Europe. We booked this one on our own, through [...] believing the online rating of 3 stars and multiple positive user reviews, and decent pictures. It is certainly not a three star hotel. The carpet is torn, there are holes in the walls. The room itself had multiple holes in the wall, some patched with tape. The peephole was missing a glass screen so people would look in from the outside (we shoved a sugar packet through it). The shower drain was clogged. They do not have non-smoking rooms, despite what is advertised (or if they do, they're awfully smokey and non-smoking is not enforced). The rooms were not clean, and there were hairs from the previous occupants found throughout the floor carpeting, the shower, and the bed. Ultimately we did not feel safe. The room door had been broken in at some point, and there was a gap in the broken frame between the door and frame. There were multiple warnings from the hotel advising us to double lock our doors, so obviously security is an issue for them. We were just thrilled when we arrived back each night (stayed three nights) to discover all our stuff was still there. Yes, I believe the most positive thing I can say other than the location is that despite all the obvious signs that it was a very likely possibility, we were never mugged. That should sum it up.

This hotel is definitely only for the adventurous, luckily we only had to stay for one night to catch an early flight out of ... Dublin in the morning. The reception desk is on the first floor (in Europe ground floor is zero) and they have to buzz you into the building. The hallways are tiny, and all the walls are covered in dated, peeling wall paper. The reception staff was prompt and friendly. We took the elevator to the third floor and walked down the narrow hallway to our room. The halls are not flat, they have a few flights of 4-5 very creaky steps that are a nightmare to navigate your luggage up and down. The room was clean, but had the same peeling wall paper. The bed only had a fitted sheet over the mattress and a duvet with a white cover on it, I think I would've slept much better with a sheet on there. The bathroom was very clean, and reasonably well sized. Shower stall (no tub), which we didn't use. We had mixed success flushing the toilet. If your not in the mood to figure out a funky 19th century euro toilet, I would recommend staying elsewhere. This hotel is right in the middle of Temple Bar, a tourist hot spot with dozens of pubs, restaurants, and souvenir shops. If you're looking for a quiet night's sleep, look elsewhere. I'm pretty sure we saw somebody overdose in the alley that our hotel window overlooked. I'm not joking. The paramedics came and we could see them doing chest compressions before they loaded the young man into the ambulance. The police were there interviewing people and searching the alley [...].I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Value deal-traveler Sep 28, 2009
my room was large and not noisy at all, but very basic (no phone, no shower caps :-) the hotel is a little run-down, however ... my price didn't suggest that it would be a luxury place, so I'm very satisfied! It is located close to all sites in downtown. If you want to drink and listen to Irish music half a night, you might only need to walk 1-5 min from your room. Not a family place!

The location is great, right in the center of Dublin. The price was good, but didn't have alot of the luxuries like WiFi in ... the room, or the phone. However they did have Wifi in the lobby as well as they let you use their phone in the lobby. The place was clean, a little bit noisy outside, but not too bad.

Better than the Hostel
Buck Sep 20, 2009
The Temple Bar area is the heart of the pub scene, so it was nice not to get a taxi home. This place is only good if you ... want more privacy than a hostel. Honestly, the greatest thing about this place was the staff. If I'm rich in 10 years and decide to return to Dublin, I will stay here solely based on how incredible the staff was.

I was quite surprised. I arrived in Dublin 3 days earlier than expected so I decided that I would try and keep my expenses ... to a minimum and this place was perfect. Not the greatest by any means but if you are looking for a place that will provide a soft bed after a night of drinking, this is your place. I think I payed only 40 Euro/night, the staff was great, very secure, and quite cozy.

Loud and Dirty
Dublin on a Budget Sep 1, 2009
While I knew the hotel would be noisy, as I had read other reviews, I was shocked as to how loud it was. One contributing ... factor was that my windows would not close, so I was stuck with the street/pub noise with no barrier whatsoever, even though I was on the top floor. Also, my electricity went out twice, including in the morning when I needed to get ready for my early flight. The building is quite old and dirty, and there was no hair dryer. The staff was nice and tried to help, but there is little they could do to overcome these major faults to the building. Thankfully, the price was cheep due to booking through Orbitz. But I would never (ever) stay there again, regardless of cheep prices.

Aren & Erin Aug 20, 2009
Went to Dublin for the beginning of our honeymoon and decided to save some money by staying at the Fleet St. Hotel. The ... location was awesome for crawling our way home after hitting the pubs until 3am, but the bed was about as uncomfortable as I've ever slept in and the the pillows (no joke) were as thin as the comforter. The shower was about 3ft by 3 ft and the curtain reeked of mildew (the shower curtain rings were zipties). Pretty noisey too, one side of the hotel faces the street and the other faces airconditioning units/fans etc. at least thats what the front desk told me.

Dillon Aug 4, 2009
This hotel was in a great location; right in the middle of the bustling temple bar. There are pubs and attractions within a ... close walking distance. Though the rooms are old, they are comfortable. The rooms come with cable television, but no phone. This was a scary inconvenience the first night, as the fire alarm kept going off in spurts because someone broke the front door. We didn't know what was going on and couldn't call the front desk. The hotel staff was great though. One night we wanted to get Chinese food, and the lady at the front desk searched for a good location for us and called to get directions. Very helpful. She also let us store our luggage there the day we checked out since our flight was at night and we didn't want to haul our luggage around all day. This hotel is very old, but overall decent.

Our two night stay at this hotel surprised me as I thought being located in Temple Bar it would be noisy but our room towards ... the back of the hotel was silent. For siteseeing and nightlife it is perfectly situated. The staff were also very helpful allowing us to check in at 8am (on a Thursday) at no extra cost. There is no restuarant for breakfast but there are plenty of cafes nearby.

The hotel is great, the location doesn't get any better, unless you prefer to live further out. The staff is very friendly ... and extremely helpful. The rooms and the bath are clean and contain all the necessities. The only negative aspects are that the hotel is rather old and may seem like a maze the first day. Plus its really just a place to sleep - no restaurant, no spa, no gym, pool, etc. However, one thing must be said, the hotel is extremely central, thus also pretty noisy! The problem is solved easiest by shutting the windows at night. Concluding, the location is superb, there is nothing missing, the staff is great all at a fairly low price. So if you're just looking for a central, affordable place to sleep its perfect!
