One Night in Downtown Atlanta
kitchensink Oct 23, 2009
I had to pick up my boyfriend in Atlanta and wanted to stay there for the night in a nice hotel. The Ellis was a very good ... choice! A very classy hotel located in downtown Atlanta. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a lot of restaurants down the street and a mall. We didn't get to do much since we were only there one night and it was a Wednesday and we had to drive back the next day. I took him to the Brick Store Pub, it's 10 minutes away from the Ellis by car. It was also fantastic. The only thing I had a slight problem with was that parking was an issue.

Wonderful Boutique Hotel
Sarita Sep 28, 2009
I love boutique hotels because the guests are not one in a million. The staff knows who you are and actively engages you in ... conversations about your stay at the hotel and your trip to Atlanta. It's like being an extended part of a family, except that they are careful not to cross that invisible line that separates guest from staff. I really enjoyed my stay at the Ellis hotel as it provided the perfect combination of elegance, comfort, hospitality and convenience.

Atlantic Station is a great shopping area only about 2-3 miles from the hotel. If your wanting to do alot of attractions (ex. Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, CNN, Atlanta Zoo, High art museum, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and etc.) The city pass is well worth the savings. I did all of the above on my trip and they all were very fun and great for family.

Fantastic Little Hotel
EC Aug 9, 2009
I had a reservation at another hotel which was disgusting. At the last minute I found the Ellis which had a wonderful, ... affordable rate. It was beautiful, safe feeling, spotless, comfortable and had great service. The food was amazing and there's a wine tasting every evening. It is also right next door to the Peachtree Center Marta stop - perfect for getting to the airport in 20 minutes.

Not my cup of tea
Red Aug 8, 2009
This is not a hotel - it feels like a NYC apartment building complete with a view of a brick wall from the windows next to ... the bed. The room was very, very small but it was very chic in design/furnishings. The bathroom was also lovely. A couple of extras -- a complimentary wine tasting which I did not partake in and free internet access. I can't say that I recommend this hotel because it has absolutely no warmth or sex appeal and it is certainly not elegant as the description suggests. There is no entrance to the hotel and no pool. Just not my cup of tea.

Great Hotel
conference traveler Aug 8, 2009
I attended a conference in Atlanta and the Ellis was right across the street. It was an extrememly good value and the hotel ... was really nice. Although I wasn't there much, I felt pampered and the staff was so nice and helpful. The only complaints I have is it was noisy from the traffic so I don't know if that happens with all hotels there. Also I had a problem with the valet parking. They may have just been busy, but I had a hard time turning over my car and then getting it.

This hotel was great. The staff were excellent, and our room was great. The bathroom was "off the chain" the sheets and bed ... were exquisite! The location was great as well within walking distance to all major attractions! I will be staying here again and again.

Nice hotel, nice staff
TJ Aug 4, 2009
Thisis a nice hotel, with great staff and friendly service. All fees weren't disclosed up front and this annoyed me mildly. ... Parking, Restocking of snacks (not the snacks themselves, but a restocking fee), Valet tips were not disclosed. If the staff weren' so nice,I wouldn't consider going back. Lastly, the room was rather noisy from the traffic below.

A departure from the routine hotel chain
The Food Bee Jul 4, 2009
Having read about the recent renovation of this 1913 building, I wanted to give it a try and found a very good online rate. ... My companion arrived first and was a bit exasperated because he felt he was coddling the employees. As he said, it should be the other way around. I called the reservations clerk from my car and asked for early arrival since we were coming in from different cities and getting to the hotel about noon. I asked for a high floor, but she told me bluntly that would not be possible with early check-in. As a result, our room was right across from the elevator. It was also very small. The king bed took up much floor space, but since we only were in town for one night it was acceptable. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were luxurious. The furniture was just average and isn't as nice as the photos depict. It's curious that the decor attempts to be contemporary in this nice old building. We seemed to be among only a handful of people staying here, so why we didn't receive a room upgrade is perplexing. Their dining room is on the second floor and there is a balcony with seating, somewhat reminiscent of New Orleans. However, when we walked out there at 9AM for breakfast, none of the tables had a bit of shade. We were forced back inside to listen to the chill/electronica music. We did dine in the neighborhood at Social and French American Brasserie. They are both within walking distance. I hightly recommend Social on W. Peachtree Pl for a nice lunch and good wine list. The Ritz-Carlton is across the street and we ventured over to their bar to get a glimpse of the recent renovation. It made us thankful we were staying at The Ellis!
