I enjoyed staying here and will come back again. Being off Bourbon St, you have the quietness needed after a long day or ... night. This property is beautiful and historic. The staff were very polite and attentive. I rate their customer service as excellent. Beautiful rooms. I recommend the Premium King, as you get a sitting area to relax.

Hit the Cajun Cabin down Bourbon St for their fried alligator. Lots of great restaurants everywhere, you will have a great time. Hit a place called Felix on Iberville St by the hotel and order their blackened alligator, better for your health and you get a delicious taste better than fried. Go crazy and order everything Cajun!

Hotel is older but well kept. Room was quite large with a very comfortable king bed and nice flat screen TV. But....looked ... right out over a bar called the Alibi... had a band/music every night... didn't close til 7AM-ish. Was a little annoying for sleeping... but we managed. Would have preferred a courtyard-view room. Bathroom was functional and pretty clean. Our biggest complaint was the lack of vending machines (there is just one that we were aware of, and it had NO WATER in it the entire time!) Hey we're in NO... need to keep hydrated and I CANNOT drink hotel tap water--yuck. No fridge in the room either to keep our own water/beverages cold. That would have been nice. Staff was pretty helpful when we talked to them which wasn't much. Basically good hotel for our "tourist" purposes.

We wanted to stay in the heart of the French Quarter near the action on Bourbon Street. We walked to Jackson Square, the ... casino, Canal Street, all within a 15 minutes. Very nice rooms, spacious and comfy bed. Our only complaint was that we requested a quiet room, but our window overlooked Iberville and we could hear the noise from Bourbon Street well into the morning hours. Granted, that was Halloween night and things were unusually wild down there!

Checked in, got a very nice quite room in the back off Bourbon, be sure you ask for this, otherwise you won't sleep. Two ... lamps in the room didn't work, no lightbulbs, and on the second day, only one elevator was working, i guess they have problems on going, i was on top floor waitied about five minutes, ask for low floor, and you can walk. The room is very good sized, and stuff in it all very nice.

The good and the not so good...
muscledfuture Nov 3, 2009
We were impressed at check in with the class and simple lines of the hotel. Then began a series of events that changed the ... overall rating of the hotel from 4 and a half stars to a simple 3. When we got to our room neither key worked. A nice security or maintenance man happened to meet me in the elevator as I was returning to the front desk and said there was a trick to it. We went back to the room- no go. He and I went down to the front desk where he reprogrammed the keys for me, walked back up to the room and made sure they worked. Fine. Day two, Halloween. We returned to our room after our evening in the French Quarter looking forward to a sound sleep in the wonderful (though very high) bed. Well first our neighbor in the suite next to ours came in screaming obsenities to her boyfriend(?) about how he had treated her in front of his mother and crying that she didn't want to be with him etc. This went on for 10 minutes. About an hour later our neighbor on the other side came in apparently inebriated or angry or both. The women in this case was screaming for him to "stop, please" and sounded in true danger. There was the repeated sound of bodies hitting the wall. I called security. Nothing. This went on for 15 minutes and I called again. The noise finally stopped, but only after we were fully awake. The next day we returned to our room at 6 p.m. only to find that our room had not been cleaned. We called the desk; they ordered it done. When we returned after dinner, the maid had left the latch hooked through, so our room was open to all. Overall the room was nice, but the lighting was poor, the coffee pot had to be moved to plug in, the shower had no pressure and the tub did not drain well. The staff were accomoding in tone, but rarely did things get done effectively. On the last night there was a man outside the main entrance in the shadow of a pillar urinating. I told him to find a public bathroom, reported it to the front desk who said to a passing security guy..."did you hear that?" Apparently he didn't because he just kept going. The pro to this hotel was location, and the bed was comfortable. Would I ever pay the $499 a night posted on the door? NEVER. Would I stay there again? Probably if I could get the deal we got through [...] of about 50 bucks per night. P.S. Don't bother with the Red Fish restaurant in the hotel...there are way better places at the same or lower price in close proximity to this place. Internet is 10 bucks a day and they charged us 7 dollars to make a tool free call.

A hungry traveler Oct 24, 2009
I was thrilled when I arrived. The room was spacious with high ceilings and a view of the courtyard pool. The hotel is less ... than 2 blocks off Bourbon Street, which meant plenty of shopping and entertainment. After a long weekend of meetings/conferences, I came back to my room on Sunday night and called room service around 8pm. I was told that the kitchen was closed and I would have to order from a nearby restaurant that delivered. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that there wasn't anyone I could address my concerns to until the next morning. When I checked out the next morning, the manager was very apologetic. Apparently the occupancy drops so low during hurricane season that they are unable to stay fully staffed. They are hoping that as tourism continues to build up in New Orleans, this will cease to be an issue.

Well they never entered our reservation even though I called and confirmed 2 days earlier and talked to the staff. After ... making us wait for 45 minutes they gave us the room but were not very apologetic. Luckily the concierge overheard our plight and called the GM at home. Everyone suddenly became friendlier and we got a free upgrade! The room was huge had a sitting area and a couch. It was dark and the AC was not working that great. But it was a step off Bourbon and they didnt seem to care that we had 5 people!

The front desk told me my credit card did not go throuugh, I had to tell them to run it again. After getting the room there ... was no direction give on how to get to the room. (like where the elevators were). I asked about the pool the front desk had no clue how long they were open. The elevator was boiling hot, the room was small.

A Lot of Potential
M Jun 26, 2009
A fair choice. The hotel is well located near Bourbon St and many fine restaurants. The rooms are spacious and it is apparent ... that Wyndham has spent time and money trying to update the property. That being said, it is an old building and is still worn in areas. The guest room was adequate, but certainly not luxurious. The staff seemed friendly but I found myself preferring to spend time elsewhere. If you are traveling for a special occasion, there are nicer properties nearby.

Ashley the AT Jun 22, 2009
When we arrived we weren't greeted at all or helped with our bags. Next the front desk person was very blunt and unfriendly. ... She gave no information about the hotel or the area. We had to later call down and ask about the ammenities...which there are none!!! They advertised a pool bar which was never opened the entire week and a regular bar in the lobey which was only open when the hotel felt like opening and closing it. The hotel pool was supposed to close at 10pm but the staff would close it early and padlock the gate(whenever they wanted)even closing it an hour early. The hotel also charged for a continental breakfast and local phone calls, we had bugs in our bathroom, and no wi-fi. I really needed wi-fi for my grad school work. I am in a online program that requires constant attention and I could not access the internet in my room. My husband and I were very displeased with this hotel and would never suggest it to anyone.

Good - not great
Saint WMD May 28, 2009
The location was the main draw, footsteps from Bourbon, across the street from the Alibi which is open 24/7 offering drinks ... and food. Service was fine - no complaints. Hallways and room were both a bit smelly - like mildew; but it wasn't enough to make a bad experience. The room was nice and big but is in need aof a bit of a makeover, bed linens were old and scratchy and decor was dated with ugly decor. This was once and could still be one of the great hotels of NOLA with just a bit of sprucing up.
