Unbelievable Rate, Shoulda Known...

Since I stayed at the Blake hotel on Halloween, there were a lot more people around than normally. Personally, I think the ... Blake Hotel is very overrated. I was unable to connect to any Wi-Fi and had a very hard time navigating the remote for the television. When turning on the shower, the noise sounds as if the pipes are about to burst. I had a very scrumptious meal at the Cheesecake Factory and was very disappointed to check into the Blake to find no micro/fridge. Overall I give this stay a 2.5 star at best.

The hotel is within walking distance of the Charlotte Convention Center and has all of the necessary amenities required by a ... business traveler. The self-serve breakfast was very good! The only negative experience was the necessity to go to a different floor to find the ice and vending machines.

The room was nice but cold. I was told that the heat could not be turned on, so that ment for an uncozy stay. When I stay at ... any hotel I want to control the temp. of my room, my wife was very unhappy. But I was told that my rate would be adjusted on monday, we'll see.

The good, the bad, and the really ugly
Expert traveler Sep 1, 2009
Okay here is my experience, the good was the location, the bad was not having a working restaurant, and the really ugly was ... one of the front desk staffs who lied right in my face! A hotel with no restaurant and such people in their staff is not worth what I paid for.

Better than expected
Frequent Traveler Aug 17, 2009
I enjoyed my stay at the Blake. It is an obvious remodel but I think they did a good job. The pool was very nice but on my ... second day it was out of service. The staff was very nice and the place was clean. There was a huge temperature difference between the sink and shower. The water in the sink was very hot but almost lukewarm in the shower. The room could have used a fridge because the hotel restaurant was also closed. I spent most of my time downtown which was a short drive or long walk. Overall, I would visit the Blake again especially at Orbitz rates.

Fine hotel and location for the price
Intelqubed Aug 12, 2009
THe hotel has a brown modern decor. The hotel room had a very nice layout with quality furniture. The bed was very ... comfortable. The TV was a good sized flat screen. It is on the other side of downtown and you have to walk past the bus terminal and the arena in order to get to the downtown dining. Downtown dining is close though and a lot of options are available within the mile. Staff was friendly and quick for both check-in and check-out. The pool was closed though so there was not an opportunity to take advantage of what appeared to be a lounge around the pool area. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again as it was very nice and comfortable.

Blake Hotel
Charlotte Visiter Jul 20, 2009
The staff is very friendly and helpful. All the ice machines were not functioning, so they had to bring us ice, but they were ... very fast, when called. You can tell the hotel building is just an older building that has been renovated. The beds and linen were not as comfortable as I would have liked. They provide you with 2 pillows on each bed, but when called, they brought up more with a smile. The restaurant inside the hotel closes early. It close 30 minutes before the time that is posted and that was not pleasant. Overall, this was an average experience. The great deal that orbitz provided woud make me want to go there again, but I would never pay full price to stay there. Hope this helps.

Very Nice Hotel. The hotel is huge and kept very clean. I have stayed here several times and each time the room has been ... spectacular. The rooms even have their own ipod dock and flat screen televisions. The hotel is a cheap cab ride from the downtown area and Panthers' stadium.

Horrible customer service!!!
Upset Traveler Jun 30, 2009
I will never visit this hotel again!! Upon arrival I was not greeted by anyone, the employees seemed to ignore the fact that ... I stood there waiting to check in. The front desk clerk then took 15 minutes to find my reservation (which was booked prior to arrival) and did not acknowledge me at all. I attempted to order room service and no one ever answered at the front desk after calling 9 times!! No one informed me about the cost of parking (uptown hotel)"phase 2" hotel rooms"...outdated with a hint of updated furniture. Do not waste your money!!!

Blake Hotel Charlotte
Poolboy150 Jun 10, 2009
This hotel is the old Adams Mark and it is just a used up old building.....some fancy furinture and a coat of paint can't ... change anything. Half the hotel still has the old Adams Mark carpet and decorations....The Pool was closed on a 90 degree day. The bar was pitiful.....The bartender was very nice. The showers have some sort of attempt at a euro nu-wave look with a half glass shower curtain that allows most of the water to soak the floor. And some kind of basin sink that splatters water all over you. The rooms are tiny and cramped.....the hallways were not air conditioned.....The staff refused to validate a friends parking pass for stopping by for 10 minutes. I would not stay here again if it was free.

Mosby Stay at the Blake, May 2, 2009
Butch C May 8, 2009
A business colleague recommended this hotel so that I can attend a Saturday workshop at the Charlotte Convention Center. ... Prior to my stay, I never heard of the hotel name before. I stayed in a room on the 12th floor. The water glasses in the room were not wrapped for sanitary purposes; therefore I did not use any of them. The hotel does not offer soft drink/juice machines on the room floors. Instead you have to go down to the lobby and buy from a person at the "snack counter". I think the snack counter is open until 10:00 PM. The breakfast is apparently outsourced to a company. The buffet food was salty and offered a poor presentation. The coffee did not taste fresh. I can add more. However, I believe you got my point that I will NOT be staying at this hotel again.

pe Apr 27, 2009
The parking was separate from the hotel and very expensive. The food service was very limited. The hotel was a fairly good ... walk from other amenities. I only had a car for one day. I was told it was not safe to walk to hotel from the main part of town. The room was really nice, the bedding excellent, and all very clean. The bar and bartender were excellent.
