The Aruban is a fun Budget Hotel in a great area across from Eagle Beach. They are in the middle of renovating and have 1/4 ... of the rooms updated. It is a hit or miss if you get a new updated room or an older room. If you are going to Aruba and want the best then don't look here. If you are going on a budget and want a nice place in a great area and aren't hung up on what the room looks like then the Aruban is for you. Staff is very nice and once the renovations are complete this will be a great place to stay.

The best tip I can give anyone is use the coupons that are provided to you. There are several pamphlets and flyers that offer great discounts on food, entertainment, and shopping. Be sure to plan ahead and use the coupons to save you big. Also booking recreational activities directly with the provider and not through the hotel concierge can save you a bundle as well.

Aruba is small so there is not a lot to do I will say is a four days or a cruise trip. However if you go for more than four days rent a car is cheap and everything is near. The map is easy to read trust me I am bad at reading maps and Aruba's map I was able to master it the second day. Do not purchase any attractions you better off doing it alone, if you do however Tattoo was the best though dinner was only BBQ ribs, Chicken and rice so for us veggies people there is no choice but to purchase only the boat ride. If you want to rent a car, every Caves, Baby beach, Natural bridge and Natural pools are al in one long street drive. For the night life there is not much to do but going to Seņor Frog is about the only thing to go party. Wednesday is Ladies night out and Seņor Frog gets pretty busy. On thursday is Karaoke night at Seņor Frog..after that is just party on Saturday. Mamba Jamba is ok only on Wednesday. The Downtown are and the High Rise Hotels area were about the same distance. To eat DO NOT please I repeat DO NOT go to Don Carlos food is not cook properly and service is nasty. I tell you it was probably not my week or the so call "Happy Island" is just a saying to make them-selves feel better.

It wasn't my week / Service was horrible
Ysabel Sep 4, 2009
What to say about this Hotel well nothing good. My friend and my girlfriend stood at this hotel from 8/18/09 to 8/25/09 and ... it has been the worse experience we had have together life. First, staff was extremely rude, when checking in the lady did not thank me or told me to enjoy my stay let along asked me if we needed help with our bags she just gave me my keys point to were the room was located and kept talking to her co-worker. Second, the room we smelled. When I went to the front to tell them I have to wait until 6pm for the manager so they try to change our room. After six rooms checked by us we got one that was ok. We stood there for 7 days and my room was properly clean the day before we left. Though my bathroom towels were change everyday because they have too 3 out of those 7 days the towels left by the maintenance staff were not clean I had to return them at the front desk for new one. The sink of the bathroom was cloak. After 3 days the toilet cloaks also maintenance to 1 hour and a half to get to it. The pool area at night smells pretty bad. There is no wi-fi. Do not used their pay phones they charge you 41 dollars for less than 2 minutes with that you talk for the entire week at an internet coffee located in downtown.

Disappointed
Jorge senior Aug 16, 2009
One of the things I most looked forward to was laying in the hot pool located just outside my room and was disappointed to ... find that the water is not heated. Also switching from my room at Liki Tiki in Florida where we have in pool volleyball,I bought a ball at the store conveniently located onsite and was told that (no) ball playing was permitted in the pool unlike "The Cabana" which is next door where again,it is encouraged. I have never slept on a harder mattress in my life. Coming back from a day on nearby Pebble Beach, which was wonderful,I was forced to sleep in total discomfort. I would only return to the Arubian Resort and Casino if these items were corrected.

The hotel is in the mist of renovation. Some rooms have been completely renovated, however the room we stayed in had not ... been renovated. It had a musty smell and the furniture was old. Also we have reported outside lights out in front of our room and no one repaired them. The front desk staff were very courteous and the cleaning person did an excellent job.

Very nice overall, but I did feel left out because I wasn't married. I guess they only "Cater" to people whom they think ... might buy a timeshare. That upset me because I went to Aruba and actually went and looked at some, but I wouldn't buy one here because of the way I was treated.

Pros: - Lower rates _ Two nice pools. One has a waterfall and is for adults only (not enforced). The other has a slide and ... swim up bar. _ Clean _ Good, friendly service _ Last but not least, located by Eagle beach, easily the most beautiful beach I've been on. Cons: _ A little too quiet for my and my friends' tastes. We're all in our early thirties and the few people we even saw using the pool were either much older or kids. This may due to the fact that we went during the low season but Las Cabanas, located between the beach and the Aruban had a much livelier scene. I found myself wishing we'd paid a little more and stayed there. _ Not directly on the beach. Not a biggie as it's a short walk across another hotel (Las Cabanas) and the street. _ Not within walking distance of many restaurants or shops. Would recommend renting a car.

Aruba Addict Jun 29, 2009
This hotel is the best deal for your money. They have a wonderful open air lobby with 4 different living room set ups to ... enjoy when you first pull up to the front of the hotel. Every morning I would grab my Dunkin Donuts coffee and sit out there reading the paper watching the place come to life. The staff is so friendly and willing to assist with anything. The pools are perfect, one with the slide and swim up bar and the other with a water fall (which was right outside our door), and they were never crowded! The rooms need to be updated which they are in the process of doing, but things take a while in Aruba! This is the second year at the Aruban and I will go back again. Can't wait for next year.

You Get what you pay for
Sophie Jun 16, 2009
Located right on Eagle beach with minutes walk to the public bus station which I highly suggest when making trips to downtown ... and the supermarket area. This way you save lots of money from taxis and also dining out. Food around the area was only alright, do try burgers from Islander Grill which is right by the pool of La Cabana. Aruban used to be all under La Cabana until they split that one hotel into two. Rooms definitely need a lot of updating, as you will notice from previous reviews, the renovations were supposed to be due by 2007 - 2008. I went to the timeshare presentation, and they said it will take another 3 years to renovate. The kitchen was fully equipped with pots, pans, plates, cups, pretty much anything you need to make a home cooked meal or even bake minus the food and ingredients. TVs are still in the old tube style instead of the flat screens as expected from previous reviews. Please take note Aruba is a very slow island so when they say renovations will be done in a year it will most likely be 5 years or more. by the way be warned do not go to the blue marlin for breakfast as i heard that it is horrible, if you must go eat breakfast outside, try the aquarius restaurant located in the renaissance hotel downtown, buffet for 17 bucks is not bad fare. Also when you book a tour with ABC Tours, be sure you are getting what you pay for because we totally got gipped. We paid for the full day tour in aruba for 8 sights and they only took us to 5 spots which is equivalent to the half day tour.

My wife, two young children and I spent a week at the Aruban Resort & Casino. When we arrived at the room, we found the ... sheets on the pull out sofa bed were dirty and the refrigerator had mildew on the door. However, the housekeeping staff quickly replaced the sheets and I cleaned off the refrigerator, and the staff kept the room clean the rest of the week. The pool area was quite nice and we had no trouble getting lounge chairs every day. The exercise room was new. The children got quite a kick out of the native iguanas that would mingle with the guests. Eagle Beach was located a quick walk through hotel next door and was beautiful with white sand and clear water. The weather was always very nice, though sometimes the winds were a little strong when trying to enjoy the pool, beach or outdoor seating at a restaurant. I would recommend renting a car if you want to get around Aruba. Our children especially enjoyed the Ostrich Farm and the Atlantis Submarine. Our favorite restaurant during our visit was Texas de Brazil -the food was great! All in all, we had a wonderful time in Aruba.

Enjoyed band there on week-end. High lite was the Carnaval Parade - awesome! Hotel was very nice. $5.00 for a small beer everywhere was quite expensive as well as food. Don't think we will return. The Aruban Resort is not at all what it purports to be!! It is NOT renovated. The room was awful. There were ants in the ... kitchen, the doornobs were falling off of the closets, there was a rusty table with a big chunk taken out of it, and there was garbage (and hair) in our room. When we called to tell them that the room was dirty and required a cleaning, the response was how dirty? We couldn't believe it!! Our room was also on a main road, and we could hear all of the traffic passing by. We had a LONG walk to the beach. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!
