Suites Del Angel

It was great that they provided a wonderful breakfast for free. It was more than a continental so they had warm authentic ... mexican breakfast. The staff was always helpful in calling a safe & private taxi service. It would have been nice to refuse housekeeping, we don't always like having our room cleaned. Yet, it took the lady all day & we came back to having no sheets on our bed :(

Down the street there is this taco stand "El Guero", it's delicious & the cooks are so friendly!

Good Value
MK Aug 14, 2009
For travelers looking for a comfortable suite but not needing a business center or support services, this is a good value. ... The location, one block from the "Angel" and Paseo La Reforma, is convenient to the US, British and Japanese embassies, and a good selection of restaurants.

Great Deal for the Price
Gimena Sep 18, 2007
I chose this hotel out because of the price, but I was shocked at how nice it was. The room was big, comfortable, and really ... clean. One big plus was a water filter in the hotel room. Ask the hotel staff for anything you need from finding places, to arranging a tour to the different pyramids outside of the city. Hotel also has a 24hr taxi stand right in front.

Its only 6 blocks to the metro station and about 8 blocks from Chapultepec. Try the Argentine restaurant Quebracho (across the street), the cantina Los Remedios (on the corner), the local taco and tortas shops, and the restaurant Al Vino (A couple blocks away).

Mexico City stay
Peter Aug 15, 2007
Good value in respect to the type of room we have ;however we have the following issues: * only 1 or 2 staff on duty * ... it appear that staffs' main incentive were to offer you service that they could make tips such as tours, taxi... etc. The commission that they charge on tour is around 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost and the hotel taxi are about 3 times as expansive than those metered taxi that you can call on the street. * The same tour package or taxi service could cost you differently depending on which staff you talk to. So watch out! * Our original room has a bad view over the roof of some garages... After purchased a tour package from the staff, he offered us a room change with a better street view. We agreed to completely packed before going out on our tour that day and he will personally transfer our luggages to the new room. He even promised it again later when we exit the hotel to meet the tour guide. But when we returned late at night, our luggages were still in our room and the room promised to us were assigned to another guest. THe night staff told me that no one told him anything about the room change but he asked us to wait for 5 minutes to find any other room. We were tired and could not even take a shower but just stilling around to wait... 5 mintues turn into to close to half an hour... I called and gave them an ultimatum and finally, the night staff assigned us to a new room... The next day, the staff who failed to deliver did even have the courtesy to say sorry for his screwed up. So, watch out for any promises that they made. Always get a receipt of some kind. From that point on, we acquire no additional services from the hotel that will allow the staffs to make any additional tips. * We have 3 person staying in the room and we pay for the extras, but the room only were set up for 2 person and we have to call house keeping each day to give up more towels and bed spreads...etc for the additional person... a waste of time... The house keeping lady (cannot speak English) and the waiter were very nice.

There are many eating places (some are expansive for what you get - up to $30 a plate) and market place for gifts and jeweleries. For gifts purchases, consider 1/5 to 1/3 off in bargaining. There may be hundreds of small stalls in the same market place. Always walk around first before buying.

Sweet Hotel
Shannnon Jul 4, 2007
Really liked Suites Del Angel. It was about 5 blocks from Metro (across Ave Reforma) and Sanbornes was just around the ... block. Although they had sort of a kitchen, there were no dishes, utensils, pots & pans, etc. They had a refrigerator, but it was used for a minibar. We put our beer in it anyway. Breakfast was included in our price and that was MUY convenient. They served eggs, pancakes, cereal, etc. When we go back to MX City, we will definitely stay there again.
