The hotel is close to the Deuce stop. This is the best mode of transportation to the main strip and Fremont St. It is not in ... walking distance to either. We did not have a great view from the 21st floor, but the room was a decent size. Could use some upgrades and a fridge, but very clean. The pool closed early daily, we were told there hadn't been a DJ there in months. The buffet was OK, but $20 all day long. The staff was friendly and definitely a place to stay if you just want a reasonable spot to lay your head. Not much to do AT the hotel.

The main issue I have with this place is that I saw a rather large bug as I was going to bed and I was on the 20th floor! ... When I told staff they simply said "that's too bad". That in conjunction with the location being a bit too far of a walk from the action I would not stay here again. But I would recommend eating at the Top of the World restaurant on the top of this hotel.. amazing food and views from this rotating restaurant

We were in Vegas for the weekend only and this was the first time staying at the Stratosphere. We didn't need stay in the ... room very long and only needed it to get ready and sleep, but the room was very dim and poorly lit. There was a small mirror on the dresser and no full length mirror, so I stood on a chair to see myself. I am picky about bathrooms and was grossed out by ours. It is in serious need of remodeling. The showerhead had some grimy stuff, plus hard water spots. The housekeeper didn't clean the room the first day, so I had to call to get more towels. The second day, she cleaned, but in the process, took my travel size bottle of Aveda shampoo, which kind of irked me. The coolest thing about the hotel is the view from the tower and we got free access to that. It's kind of far from the life of the strip, which I didn't mind.

Tired Traveler Nov 2, 2009
Compliments! 1.)Excellent room! We were bumped up to a room on the 21st floor with a sitting area as well as the ... bedroom. 2.) We thought the personel of the hotel were very helpful, friendly and did not act like the ones who always have their hands out. 3.) Great dining! We ate at 2 of the diners and the buffet and graded them A+. The buffet was the best of the 3 it had very good variety. 4.) Top of the world! If you visit this hotel go have a drink at night in the top of the world resturant, it's worth the $20 and the vertigo you'll feel when looking out. It's simply breathtaking. Our complaints: 1.) Wear your most comfortable shoes. We noticed at this and every other hotel/casino we visited while on our trip they all are laid out so you MUST walk through the entire casino before you can check in, get to your room, or leave the hotel so at no point going out or coming back can you avoid the casino. (This is the same at ALL vegas strip hotels. Also it is far worse at some of the other hotels they are larger). 2.)Be ready to be hot. All the hotels in Vegas have their heat on always and never air conditioning. The only place that you can find a whiff of cool air is in your room. 3.)Rent a car unless you love to walk. The Monorail is a VERY VERY long walk from the strip through a smokey casino from every stop from what we noticed. The duce bus spends as much time at stops as moving so is very slow. Cabs will break you a taxi's pickup is $3.75 plus $.30 per 1/12.

Great hotel if you like Country Music!
Maine Missals Nov 2, 2009
We loved the Stratosphere Hotel and the rides were extremely scary. The beds were very comfy, the room was very clean, and ... we had a great view of Vegas. But everywhere we went, there was this constant drone of Country Music. This is not our type of music, so we left the hotel as much as we could. And at times it was loud. If you are a Country Music fan, then this is your hotel!

We bought a 24 hour ticket for the Deuce. It is a public bus transit system that is very reasonable ($7 for 24 hours and they have 3 day passes, too). We used it to go to Freemont St. and then to travel up and down the strip. But it is not the fastest way to get around, so keep that in mind!

A bargain hunter's hotel
Young Twentysomething Nov 1, 2009
This was a great choice for a group of ladies right out of college that need a bargain but still want to have a blast. The ... topless pool on the top floor was a great haven for one of us for tanning and relaxing while the price was great to be able to have money left over to go out at night. Very close to Fremont street but too far away from the strip to walk and kind of in a tougher neighborhood. If you plan on walking most everywhere, do it before dark. We ended up spending a lot more on cabs than we originally budgeted but it was fine since I saved so much booking the hotel anyway. Good casino, not too many kids, and they gave us a wonderful room with strip view.

Take the bus that runs up and down the strip if you are alone or in a group of less than 4 as it is cheap to get down to the strip and back if you have a few extra minutes.

The Strat's a Nice Value.
JoeyLasVegas Oct 30, 2009
Have used the Stratosphere for business and vacation in the past. They offer competitive rates to other strip hotels, though ... you should probably rent a car rather than walk to other locations on strip. Also, you walk a ways from parking garage to check-in desk, then walk again to get to the elevators, but once done, you'll get used to it. And, once you have a room, getting from the parking structure to the elevators does not include walking through much of the casino. The room and bathroom were fine, no complaints. One thing I didn't get used to was the AC/Heater "thermostat" in the room, which someone had set at 62 degrees for late October. I finally figured the toggle controls to switch the fan and AC off after the first cold night. The hotel's been remodeled a bit since my last stay. The Sportsbook seems smaller, though now has more TVs. There is also a new central bar area, and a Starbucks carved out of the breakfast cafe. There's an info desk located right near the escalators and valet entrances, if you need to ask for directions or tips. The Mr. Lucky's cafe is open 24/7 for late night snacks. Also, there's an extensive coupon book that included free admission to the top of the Tower. Overall, the Strat's a good value for the money.
