Nice Hotel - beware of room titles
Boy Wonder's Mom Sep 8, 2009
We went to Calgary to attend the World Skills Competition at the Stampede. 1) We waited 45 minutes for the shuttle to ... arrive. We called 3 times and were told each time that the shuttle was on its way and would be there in "5 minutes". The shuttle is actually shared with a few other hotels so beware. 2) The hotel is beautiful and clean. Free breakfast is good. 3) Be careful when booking and confirming your "suite". A "studio" suite does NOT have a wall between the "bedroom" and pullout couch. It is very very small when the pullout couch is used as a bed. I'm still not sure where the confusion happened. When I called to confirm, I specifically told them we had three adults and were going to use the pullout. 4) We were told when doing the initial booking that the hotel was a short walk to the train - 45 minutes short! 5) Directions to the train were not clear and included walking "through a mall". Through a mall was not explained well. We are very good with directions - they were not explained well. It is better to rent a car - you need to walk a distance to get to any restaurants, stores etc. 6) The hotel manager finally found us a new room (with a wall) after 2 nights. 7) Our card key did not work well, taking 5-6 swipes to finally turn the light green then it stopped working altogether. We needed to go back to the desk with ID (after all of the above previous difficulties) before they would code a new key for us. We went back again because the new key still did not work - we finally got into our room about 1/2 hour later. They replaced the batteries in the door lock. Over? No the new key - new batteries did not work the following night! 8) We left the hotel at 6:00 on Monday. The "on the go breakfast" was set up (opening at 5:30 am. but the milk dispenser hose was not cut. When we asked to have it cut at the desk. The desk person told us to find the breakfast person, when she was found, she said the breakfast was not open until 6:30 (everything else as set up). We cut it ourselves finished eating and left for the airport at 6:00 am with our rented car! Done. I would only recommend this hotel with the above explanations.

Pool with slide and hot tub were great, even for adults. Free washing machine and dryer were also good - pay 2:50 for detergent for "one" load - bring your own or split the box between two or three machines - newer front load machines do not need the whole box to clean a tub load of clothes.

Calgary Stay
Carol Sep 6, 2008
We enjoyed our stay in Calgary, hotel was close to Airport which to us was a plus..We were there for Spruce Meadows... Would ... love to stay at Staybridge again but we think next year we will stay closer to SM...Only because the TRAFFIC was horrible on Deerfoot...Not a hotel problem..As far as the hotel... it is very nice.

Real nice stay
Curtis Apr 20, 2007
The Staybridge is really nice all-around, and the hospitality is great. Very close to the airport and many great places to ... eat.
Traveler type: Business
There are several decent places to eat within walking distance and a 3 MINUTE drive will bring you to a large grocery store, retailers and a liquor store!
