They did not have my all-inclusive reservation, room only which ended up being divine intervention. They wanted to charge me ... an additional $377 per day for food. They have certain hours to eat and the food is NOT impressive. There were bugs in the room and the air conditioning did not work. The shower flooded the bathroom. When asked about the bathroom flooding they said the tubs were built that way. All the problems and we were not even offered a breakfast voucher. The staff is very unfriendly. The people selling items on the beach border harassment. the quality of all the amenities were so poor, for an extra $25 a day you can stay at an all inclusive top notch 5 star resort such as sandals.

Only 1 good about this hotel: location
Med Student Aug 24, 2009
The hotel needs some renovations and cleaning up. There was trash in a corner right in front of our room. The room was ... average. The bathroom was not very appealing, paint was pealing and bathtub was rusting. The staff are not very friendly. For ex, the cleaning lady knocked at our room door at 10ish am to clean. We said we are not ready, she "shmmm",then left. She did however fix up the room later. There were no internet and no 110-120 volts plugs in the room. We had to have our cell phones and laptops recharge at the front desk. The good thing about our stay: location of the hotel. It was on the beach and the rooms were on special.

It may be best to stay in a nicer and cheaper hotel in the Castries area and just walk to the beach. Coco Palm for example is at a very good price and w/in walking distance to the beach and night life.

Over all the staff was great, but at times you had to call twice to get something you requested. The location is great, ... because there are many things to do and great restaurants to visit and they are within walking distance.

Don't expect to party like a rock star. The night life on the island is close to non-existent.

Go to the "Jump Up" at Gros Islet on Friday nights--it was great! It's a street party with lots of dancing, music, and food.

St. Lucian by Rex
Meme Jul 5, 2009
The hotel was located within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The staff was helpful but not friendly. I believe ... it's cultural because most of the St. Lucians did not appear too friendly. The food is average. You'd be better off going to the strip for food. Overall, the hotel is good buy for the price.

The staff upgraded our room for no extra charge. The room was clean and spacious. Beautiful beach, clean resort, and great ... location walking distance to all the bars and restaurants. We loved it and would definitely go back.

Ok hotel

This hotel was decent. Nothing great Nothing terrible. I got an all inclusive package but wouldn't probably do it again since ... the selection wasn't as big as I thought it would be and there are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. Most of the staff were good, but there were a couple employees there who acted cranky if you dare ask them a question.I work in the hospitality industry myself so I know that's not the right tact. I did enjoy the caribbean steel drum band that entertained there and the bach right behind the hotel was great. All in all I would probably stay here again since it is one of the better priced places for St. Lucia. As with anything though, there is room for improvement.

Two thumbs up!

Garden room was very spacious for a family of three adults and we could hear the ocean. A hotel on the beach was a must. We ... enjoyed musical entertainment in the hotel lobby - good opportunity to get to know other guests and dance. Nice shops within the hotel and nearby - also great restaurants - all within easy walking distance. Hotel food was good, although we did not opt for meal plan. We ate breakfast at the hotel daily (awesome servers - especially, Janelle!) and had dinner one evening at the hotel. The hotel food was very good, but we like to try all the local restaurants. [...] from Orbitz was incredibly helpful. We will go back for a return visit to St. Lucia and stay at the Rex - wonderful trip. Very friendly staff and we felt very comfortable and safe at the hotel.

Great experience with scuba diving at Scuba Steve's. Very organized and safe operation. We really enjoyed the "Lime on the Bay" restaurant down the street from the hotel - our favorite. (Don't miss the ice cream parlor nearby - our nightly stop before returning to the hotel.) The trip to Soufriere was interesting with a lovely garden tour guided by Stan who stopped to get delicious fresh bread and cheese for our group at a local bakery. Best souvenirs for home: callabash bowls filled with fresh spices! What a treat! Also, the local batik bedspreads - not to miss (although I was only able to find them in the airport as we were departing or I would have purchased more items for gifts). Try the banana ketchup - just to say you did - it's pretty good. Brig sunset cruise is very nice.
