Best location in Key West
Gene Nov 9, 2009
The staff was very friendly except for one of the attendants at the beach. He needs a lesson in customer service. When my ... wife had the misfortune of breaking her leg in a motor bike accident, the hotel was kind enough to move us from the 2nd floor to the 1st so it would be easier for her to get around-without me requesting the move.

I think this hotel had the perfect location. It had it's own private beach, plus 3 pools and it was on Duval Street, where most of the action is in Key West. However, the action starts a block or two up the street so you are not disturbed by the noise.

Bruno...Surprised & Happy Nov 3, 2009
Everything ran smoothly from the moment we arrived. The registration and check-in, smooth as silk (friendly and courteous) ... the rooms looked every bit as attractive as the brocheure. Everything in the room was spotless and "actually worked" What a pleasant surprise. Clean pools and friendly staff. What more can I say...Couldn't find anything to fault.

A place called "The Bottlecap" just a couple blocks away had the most deliscious food. I had the most delicious Turkey sandwich I have EVER eaten. All the food there is GREAT!

If you are new to the Island rent scooters. They are reasonably priced, a lot of fun and a great way to learn the city.

Good location but pricy.
Mike Oct 11, 2009
Room was small and the bed was like a brick. Shower drain backed up, but other than that it was a great location, the staff ... was exceptionally friendly and helpful and the hotel well kept. Pool and jacuzzi we nice and clean. The hotel had a great atmosphere and you got access to the ammenities at the Southernmost on the Beach hotel (i.e - beach access). We would stay there again but just go for a different room. We had the single queen room which was rather small.

Putnam People Sep 26, 2009
Loved that we were able to use the facilities at the other Southernmost locations but found that our pool was every bit as ... nice. It was quite a walk to Mallory Square, but there is something happening all along the way on Duval, so we did not mind it at all.

Mom to Thing 1 and Thing 2 Aug 15, 2009
We loved the location--across the street from the Butterfly Museum, close enough to walk downtown along Duval Street, etc. ... The beach access was convenient, but the beach wasn't very nice. We enjoyed the snorkeling at nearby Fort Taylor, but definitely drive there even though it looks close to the hotel. Hotel guests have access to 3 pools (including those at the Southernmost on the Beach), all of which were very clean and decent-sized. We thought the room was high quality, and we appreciated the free parking.
Traveler type: Family
Our family really enjoyed the street entertainers in Mallory Square in the evening. It is within walking distance from the hotel for adults but was too far for children. We also liked a Cuban restaurant right at Mallory Square. We found that some store vendors are willing to bargain, especially if they are having a sale.

ATCCSCS Aug 1, 2009
Good overall. The room was kinda small but it did have a good sized bathroom/shower. Some of the fixtures needed updating. ... The wireless internet signal wasn't very strong but we were far out on the end of the hotel. The parking spots are very small, be weary of bringing an SUV, but parking is free which is a huge plus in Key West. The Southernmost on the Beach (across the street) has a nicer pool and bar, and the beach. You can use all of these amenities included in the price of this hotel.

Great Southernmost stay
Judy Jul 30, 2009
Very nice stay. If I had one gripe about the room I stayed in would be the air condition location. It was situated up in ... the air and when it blew the cold air down it went right down onto the bed I was sleeping in. I am not one to have such direct air blowing on me like that and it was bothersome at times.

Marylanders Jul 2, 2009
Highly recommend for staying in Key West. At the far end of Duval so it was great to avoid the rush of duval, but walk to it ... when we wanted to. Say Hi to Johnny the bartender at the tikki bar. Ask him for whatever you want to do, he will not steer you wrong. He also makes great drinks.

Rent the scooters from around the corner. They are reasonably priced and you can see the entire island. If you are into drinking you have to go to Sloppy Joe's, Durty Harry's, Rick's, and Schooner's (Not on Duval). For dinner recommend Duffy's (surf and turf) and for breakfast Camille's (gotta order the brreakfast burrito).

We like walking for the exercise but if you don't like to walk there are plenty of alternatives. Scooters, bicycle cabbies & now there are little electric vehicles kind of like golf carts, all for rent.

Check out Dry Tortugas National Park. It is 70 miles west of key west. They have daily boat trips that take two hours. Or you can take a sea plane. Camp on the island. This was the highlight of our trip.
