Good things & things needing improvement
Visitor from Iowa Oct 1, 2009
My trip combined business and pleasure. This was a one-night stay. Overall stay was so-so. Good things included: restorant ... and lounge service - food was great and staff very friendly; very good location - walking distance to most popular attractions; hotel staff shared map of the area and described attractions without my asking them; environmentally-friendly features - use of shampoo, soap and lotion dispenser. Hotel cost is very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. Things needing improvement: the heat system was in hazardous condition - I was afraid to use thinking it will cause fire (heating coils were exposed and dangerously hot while the window courtains hanging above were almost touching the coils). At the same time I was charged fee for accidents ($25.00) at check-in time. Yeahh!!... This fee was in addition to the price I paid while booking hotel online. Even though it was cold in the room, I decided not to use heat. Blanket was too thin for the room temperature. Room was uncomfortably cold. There was a large space between the bottom of the entry door and the floor. As a consequence, the room was unable to keep the heat. The space also allowed noise and smells from the floor into the room. I didn't get much sleep. In the morning during clean-up service, there was bad smell of the amonia on the floor. Hotel cleaning service came into my room too early prior to the check-out time (10am as opposed to 11am). The updated heating system and better room insulation (from outside noise and smells) would have made my stay more enjoyable. It would have been nice to see better (updated) room decor. I had very good breakfast in the hotel restorant: the food was great and service prompt and friendly. I enjoyed the lounge fireplace and TV news very much. Compared to other hotel stays, this stay was rather uncomfortable due to cold, noise and smell. Plus unexpected charge of $25.00 for accidents (while the heating system was in a hazardous condition) made it even less enjoyable.

Wonderful Place to Stay
Blushblueholly Aug 16, 2009
This was my first time staying in Seattle and I feel very lucky that I picked this hotel not knowing more than I did about ... the area. It is within walking distance of all the touristy downtown attractions, lots of restaraunts, and within walking distance to transportations that will take you further away. The staff is friendly, the price is right, the rooms are clean, although the carpet was stained in some spots in my room (not unforgivable, as my own carpet at home has spots, and is still clean). The only part of the hotel I felt was a bit dodgy was the stip club behind it, but that was conveniently blocked from my room view by the giant advertising sign behind the building.

While within reasonable walking distance to Space Needle and Pike's Market, it really isn't "near" anything. Parking is ... limited. Lobby is beautiful, but hallways and rooms are dated and worn. Behind the motel is a large pay parking lot and then a "gentleman's club". Oh yeah, just what my kids need to be exposed to. Ice machine broken and leaking. OK we were there when is was blistering hot, but there was no AC in the hallways and elevators. Old AC unit was loud and gave a sigh of relief when we shut it off. Clean, cheap and functional. Maybe good for young singles or "no kids" couples.

Hotel was a huge disapointment
Toastbass Jul 10, 2009
Walking to the hotel we noticed the color on the outside seemed very dull and old. I assumed it was a "pay by the hour" or ... one night stand kind of hotel from the outside. In the hotel we noticed a weird smell. (Play pin). That was the first turn off, then we didn't have wireless internet in our room, but a broadband wire that never worked. Our door barely closed completely and they didn't have continetal breakfast either. $113 + $15 for parking makes me want my money back.

YUCK!
Kms4Kathy Jun 28, 2009
The hotel WAS located close to things like the Space Needle. Other than that it was horrible. Tired after driving 5 hours ... and tried to check in at 2:00 pm, told "no, not until 4:00pm". Staff was more interested in Michael Jackson's death. Upon walking in the door the one elevator didn't work and the other one kept getting stuck. The hot water never worked so cold showers for all of us. It was noisy all through the night, not to mention the flashing blue lights from the strip club right across the street. The beds were uncomfortable and the room small. If being dowtown Seattle is necessary for your stay, pay the extra money and do NOT stay at the Sixth Ave. Inn.

Loud Car in adjacent Parking lot
thislamehotel Jun 22, 2009
The location is amazing and that is why we paid over $125 a night to stay in this 3 star... average hotel. 5 minute walk to ... Pike Place Market and 15 minutes to Capital Hill. Lots of restaurants and bars around. Plenty of parking available outside in lot for $15 a night. Entrance has a small, uninviting lobby. The staff don't go above and beyond. The rooms are fairly clean and well stocked with toilet paper and towels. The beds are comfortable and made neatly. The sheets feel clean and fresh. The pillows are fluffed. The built in restaurant on the 2nd floor is open until 11PM, has friendly staff, decent food but pricey. Management is poor. There was a car parked in the adjacent lot with its car alarm going off from 6pm to 11pm. The 21 year old manager didn't offer switching the rooms of the people facing this unbearable loud noise. We had no choice but to leave our room until the noise was taken care of. By the time we returned the broken car with the expired parking ticket was still there but the noise was silenced& until 4 am that morning. The manager was dumbfounded when we mentioned this to him in the morning. He had no idea because he left at 11PM that night and didn't bother to check up on his customers until the morning check out. He didn't apologize or give us another reason to come back to this mess of a hotel. The least he could have done was to give us a discount& Maybe he should take some management classes at the local community college.
