We enjoyed our stay at the Silver Legacy. Very elegant hotel, friendly staff, good food, and check in/check out was fast and ... easy. Smoking room didn't smell too bad and I won $200 on a quarter poker machine in ten minutes. Talk about lucky! It was too much fun and I hope we get to go back soon! Coffee pot in the room would've been nice...I'm not a morning person :o)

Parking at the Silver Legacy is free for guests and if you intend to do anything besides eat, drink, and gamble, you'll need a car to see the sites, especially if you want to take a drive up to Lake Tahoe or go shopping anywhere in the area. Cabs aren't that expensive, but a rental car will give you lots more freedom to look around.

Reno is not like it used to be. Get used to smaller crowds and a laid back atmosphere. It may be pleasing to some but it is only a slight upgrade from the local Indian casinos.
--Phil, Salem, Or Oct 18, 2009
The cafe had good food at a good price, I got cup of soup, small salad and half a "dagwood sandwich" on a poor boy style roll for $7.00. NO in room coffee -- UGH.

Reno Ain't What It Used To Be
Bob Oct 26, 2009
Of all the hotels in downtown Reno, the Silver Legacy is clearly the best . . . interestingly decorated, okay food, and ... connected to the El Dorado and Circus Circus so there's lots to do. However, the problem was not the hotel, but Reno itself. What was once a fun and intersting little Western city has been turned into a futuristic concrete wasteland right out of Brave New World. Lots of concrete with no buildings and no landscaping. And most of the buildings that are left are either closed or abandoned. Whomever is in charge at City Hall must have seen one too many science fiction movies. Admittedly, Indian gaming and the recession have seriously impacted the Nevada scene and Reno is no exception. But what was once a quirky little western town is not as much fun as it used to be.

I have stayed in Reno countless times and always wanted to stay at the Silver Legacy. I was not disappointed. Parking was a ... breeze. Great security. Nice room. The gentleman running the fitness area was great. My only knock would be the in room table was a little small. It worked but I have stayed at lesser hotels and had bigger desks. Other than that I could honestly find no faults. GREAT PLACE!!!

The hotel wasn't as good as it was advertised on your website. first of all we had reserved a king bed through the website ... and they didn't have one available for us. We called the front desk and asked them to notify us when they have a king size room available the next day. We never received a call to let us know whether they have any rooms or not. Our room service was terrible as well. We asked someone to clean our room while we were away and the only thing that was done was our bed was made. we had some garbage on the floor and in the bathroom and that was still there when we got back. I plan on never visiting this hotel again.

The only problem I had with ORBITZ is that when they ran my credit card and it did not take they keep running it trying to get an approval and every time it was ran I was charged, and was not told they would be charging me and from my understanding they work off of commission and now I see why he was running the card so many times. This was the only problem I had because the next person I made the reservations with was verry helpful and It did not take as long as the first one did.
