Pretty Cool

Travel Hogs Oct 20, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The room was wonderfully clean and the view was nice. I think I was expecting the falls to seem closer, but it was still a ... nice enough view with the floor to ceiling windows in the Superior Room. The bed was located in a way so that you could not see the falls from the bed, which would have been romantic. You had to stand at the windows to see the falls, but that's easily remedied by placing a couple of chairs at the window. We booked this room for our anniversary and I mentioned this several times to the staff. Usually, hotel staff like to do a little something nice for special occasions like this (a small free upgrade or a little something extra sent to the room) to make the guest feel more welcome and to make the experience special enough so that you'd want to come back. However, the staff didn't really care about our anniversary and all we got was one half-hearted "congratulations". I don't mind spending the extra money, but we want a memorable experience for it. I think next time we'll try the Embassy Suites instead--that seemed closer to the falls and had both a Starbucks and a Keg inside.

BEAUTIFUL VIEW

KAY Oct 11, 2009

THE VIEW FROM OUR HOTEL WINDOW OF NIAGARA FALLS WAS BEAUTIFUL ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT WITH THE COLORED LIGHTS. WE ENJOYED THE ... MAID OF THE MIST. WE ESPECIALLY LIKED THE WINE TRAIL AND THE LITTLE CITY OF NIAGARA ON THE LAKE. WE REALLY LIKED ZAPPI'S PIZZA RESTAURANT BEHIND THE HOTEL. THE WHIRLPOOL JET BOAT AT NIAGARA ON THE LAKE WAS FUN.

Avoid this Hotel Like the Plague!

Frustrated and now BROKE Sep 28, 2009

Bad experiences at the Sheraton from the start. . . (FOR EXAMPLES: we stayed in 4 different hotels in Niagara!) Online we ... had "premiere" rooms at this hotel, a splurge hotel for our trip with a "great falls view room." However, when we arrived they put us on the lowest level, when asked they refused (coldly/rudely) to check to see if there was a higher room. When we arrived we parked in an almost empty parking lot and went to the desk to check in, the receptionist first asked for my credit card, he did not say anything and as he swiped it through the machine, half way through the swipe I asked him what it was for, he said without looking at me "$20 parking fee" (In an empty parking lot! Our $50 a night downtown hotels did not charge at all, but our $200 a night motel is charging $20!) So frustrated we went for a bellboy, he said there was "none available" then just stared at us, so we asked for one to be sent to the side lot right by the building, and we waited there for a NO SHOW. So we hauled our luggage and bags up like mules to elevators that took FOREVER every time. In our rooms were 2 Aquifina bottles, both had tags (saying a different water brand) and that a $7.95 "convenience" fee would be added for each if opened! So we went to see our "falls view room" to find out that we were one of the farthest hotels from the falls, the "view" was pretty much from the back of the fall, our "splurge" hotel for a great view turned out to be a very large waste of money. To add insult to our injury, we could not even see the fireworks that they only did for one night, just the crowds below and a few dying sparks came to our view. The next afternoon we again tried for a bellboy refusing to be the mules everyone stared at as you struggled by straining, red faced, and puffing with effort. Stubborn we waited over half an hour, no show... so again we loaded up like mules, waited 4.75 minutes (frustrated, I had timed it), and lugged our way to our very expensive parking spot, in a nearly empty as before parking lot. Previously we had stayed at Motel 6, Travelodge, The Lodge Inn, and the Crowne Plaza. Only the Crown had charged for parking (since they are a water park too), all the other hotels were located right on the strip with great location and views to the falls, and TWICE as nice and friendly, all had given us assistance with our luggage, and ALL were half the price of the Sheraton! !

Food is expensive in Niagra. All restaurants are at least $50-80 per person for dinner. Slightly less for others.

The hotel is up above the Falls to take advantage of the views, yet this makes the walk TO the Falls longer and difficult. Ask for help to get the quickest and most direct path, which will still take some time.

After much confusion between the Sheraton Fallsview and the other Sheraton a few miles away with a very similar name like ... "Falls on Niagra" We got to our hotel and checked in after that fact we encountered a misunderstanding between the Hotel and our accommodations in which the front desk remedied the situation and was very helpful. Great view and great service.

Fantastic hotel

Fantastic hotel. We got the Jacuzzi suite with a fallsview. It was a clean room with an amazing view of the falls, though ... the window was a bit dirty. The location is nice and quiet--off the path from the hustle of the rest of Niagara Falls. Overall we had a great time. We only stayed one night so I can't say much more, but the staff and hotel were top-notch.

Unbeatable view, great value-for-money

JoJo Sep 7, 2009

Excellent value-for-money. It was very affordable to have their best room with an unobstructed, wall-to-wall window view of ... the entire Niagara Falls. Seeing the Falls from your bed is pretty spectacular. While not a true five star hotel in the elite sense of the word, the dirt cheap price for a solid four-star hotel with an incomparable view is simply unbeatable. Highest recommendation!

Sheraton Fallsview - Great hotel

D&B Sep 3, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

We stayed at the Sheraton because of a friend's recommendation. Our room was spotless and we had the most comfortable bed ... ever! Staff at the check-in desk was extremely pleasant and helpful, as was the staff at the tour desk. The Sheraton Fallsview is at the end of the street and there was very little traffic noise. Our room faced the Horseshoe Falls and, with our windows open, we could hear the water. It was a great experience.

Beautiful View

Niagara is definatly a place that every Canadian she visit at least once. The maid of the mist is a must out of all the ... attractions around the falls. The horseshoe falls took my breath away. I would go back to Niagra in a heart beat. My only complant is that there should be a walking trail down to the falls in stead of the trolly. Niagara makes a lot of money as it is they should not have to charge people to go down a hill.

Great Falls Getaway

Becks Aug 14, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

We arrived at the Sheraton early and a few hours before check in. The front desk staff however was excellent and was able to ... have a room cleaned and ready for us within an hour. They even gave us a choice of what floor we'd like to be on! While we waited for a room to be cleaned the bellhops held our luggage so that we could walk and get something to eat. The room itself was great. We stayed in a king jacuzzi suite with a great view of the falls.

Dining hint, Short Walk

AVOID: the $6.99 breakfast buffet at the local restaurant! ! Water is $3.75 in BOTTLES, Coffee is over $3, NO free refills for anything!. . . GOTO: the $15.99 buffet it has cheap drinks, free refills, GREAT FOOD, clean atmosphere, and live Italian violin and organ players that come up to your table to play for you! In a town were you can NOT get a meal for under $25 this place is a BLESSING! We only wish we'd found it sooner.

--Frustrated and now BROKE, Michigan Sep 28, 2009

Dining hint

Food is expensive in Niagra. All restaurants are at least $50-80 per person for dinner. Slightly less for others.

--Gingersnap, Cleveland, Ohio Sep 26, 2009

Recreation/Attractions hint, Long Walk

The hotel is up above the Falls to take advantage of the views, yet this makes the walk TO the Falls longer and difficult. Ask for help to get the quickest and most direct path, which will still take some time.

--JoJo, California Sep 7, 2009

Recreation/Attractions hint, Long Walk

The hotel is quite a hike from the main shops/entertainment area. However, the peace and quiet from being that far away was worth it!

--D&B, Raleigh, NC Sep 3, 2009

Recreation/Attractions hint, Short Walk

Buy the package for the tours

--Kerry, Tulsa, OK Sep 2, 2009

Money savers hint, Short Drive

Pick up some crusty bread, Italian salami and ham, some cheeses, some fresh fruit, and a good bottle of wine...all available within a short drive. Enjoy it all in the room as you watch the Falls and all their majesty.

--Rico, Balto-DC Sep 2, 2009

Money savers hint

Purchase of Tour pass at Table Rock was a savings, and getting to the tour areas at 9:00 AM was perfect. We went from one attraction to another without any waiting.

--Maggie, Wilkes Barre PA Aug 25, 2009

Dining hint, Short Walk

Great Brazilian restaurant just down the street!

--ek, Boston, MA Aug 5, 2009

Shopping hint, Short Drive

Do not buy the VisiTicket. Waste of money.

--travelers, Wisconsin Jul 26, 2009

Recreation/Attractions hint, Short Drive

Don't buy a super saver for the attractions online. It is cheaper to buy an Adventure Pass at Table Rock on the Canadian side and at the Aquarium on the USA side. The super saver is good if you have kids that like the Water Park and ride machines. To get your monies worth you have to get up early and it is best to do the American side first.

--Mary, Bear, Delaware Jul 26, 2009

Recreation/Attractions hint, Short Walk

Railway incline is $2 CD each way per person unless you have the people mover pass (comes with the Canadian parks adventure pass) and takes you directly to the table rock center which is at the head of the Canadian falls.

--ShaunT, Valparaiso, IN Jul 26, 2009

Recreation/Attractions hint, Long Walk

The hotel is physically close to Niagara falls but it is a very long walk to get there unless you buy tickets on the rail car that takes down the hill.

--simple traveler, missouri Jul 16, 2009

Time savers hint, Short Walk

There is an incline that will take you down to the Tabletop park at the falls. It is faster than battling traffic in and out of lots (which you can see from the lookout in front of the hotel).

--Matt from Tennessee, Jefferson City, TN Jul 15, 2009

Entertainment hint, Short Walk

For older couples without children, one day is enough in Niagara Falls. Before trip check on all benefits of staying at the motel of choice.

--Cracker, Niagara Falls, On. Jul 11, 2009

Dining hint

The Skylon Tower' revolving restaurant. Best food and service.

--HH, Cary,NC Jul 10, 2009
