Great Honeymoon Spot!!!! Loved it!
Honeymooners that GOT AWAY! Nov 15, 2009
It was very clean. The staff was great. The overall atmosphere was great. The only thing we could complain about was the ... music selection it was like techno music or something like that and they played it until 1 am every night. It wasn't very loud but I would have liked to open the balcony doors and listen to the ocean but all you could hear was the music in the background. I would highly recomend this resort to someone. We will be back for our 1 year anniversary!

Hotel is about 14 miles from the airport (about 20 min). It's literally surrounded by a swampy jungle. The hotel is lovely, ... the rooms are modern and luxurious. The restaurants (there are many of them) are all wonderful! The staff (especially the waitors/hostesses) is so friendly and really care about your experience. There are activities throughout the day and night, though the night entertainment is slightly lame. There are several pools which is great if you want a quieter poolside experience for reading, etc. Rooms are nice but could be cleaner, mainly because of the bugs. With the nearby jungle and the open air hallways, there are a lot of bugs around and they often got into the room.

Nice hotel and friendly staff. The beach was not very nice, and the whole area, especially the beach was buggy. This hotel ... seemed to be a long travel to anywhere you wanted to go. Shopping, excursion, etc. The excursions seemed expensive. Taxi rates should be made available to compare taxi with tour travel. This hotel needs more night life for the 30-50 age group. Dancing, music, etc. instead of going to Cancun or Playa de Carmen. Overall, a very nice place and great staff.

Outstanding resort and excellent service
Christine Nov 4, 2009
Secret's Silversands stood up to it's rating. It was the nicest resort I have ever stayed. The resort was very clean, and the ... grounds and the hotel rooms were beautiful. Lots of restaurant choices to choose from each evening. The food was top notch and the wait staff never stopped. We were constantly told " It is my pleasure". The activities staff were all very friendly. They never pushed to have you do something if you didn't want to. The only drawback was that there is not much shade near the pool areas. And the beach was beautiful to look at, but there was too much seaweed and rocks to go in the water. That did not matter much to us, we just hung out by the pool every day.

Go to the Jungle Spa. We went with another couple we met at the resort so we split the cab fare. The best massage you will ever get at a fraction of the cost the resort charges for a massage. It is a non-profit, and it is set up to help the local women. I found the website while looking up things to do in that area. While we were waiting for our appt., every person coming out of the Jungle Spa raved that it was the best massage they have ever had.

There are many pools, restuarants and bars on the resort for variety. It was all inclusive so we didn't have to worry about the hassel of money. Service was great. Staff was very nice. Loved our stay at SSS ,our first room had a bad odor inside and out , an odor of sewerage .The sewer plant turned to be ... located right outside our room . No problem getting a new room . While sprinkler system went off on the property in the mornings you could smell the same odor . Pools where great but pool service lacked due to understaffing both around the pool and at the swim-up bar . Only one bartender at swim-up bar . Only two choices of beer one dark and one lager and very little top shelf liquor . Good things- entertainment staff and entertainment was excellent . Pools were great . Restaraunts were great service and food above average. Rooms were always cleaned and are huge .

Buzymom11 Oct 19, 2009
This was a mommie break, alone. It is a very secure location. When you turn off of the highways, there is a security ... check-point and again when you get to the resort. It only took about 15-20 to arrive from the airport and I took a private transfer with Cancun Transfers, which I would recommend. Location-I loved the location!! I liked being out of Cancun in a more secluded location. I don't think I would have liked being in the "Hotel Zone" were the hotels are one on top of the other...yuck! Arrival-I got to the resort a little before 1 and had to wait for the check in. The cool cloth and champagne where hit and miss. I didn't see anyone getting a cool cloth, but did see some getting the champagne. I just think the young man couldn't keep track of who he had served and who he had not. I waited about 10 minutes for my turn to check in. I was offered ocean front for an extra charge, but declined. My room was ready and I was given the map and sent on my way, which I didn't like as I had NO idea where I was going. I had to ask for help from a person doing housekeeping. Beach-The beach is nice, but could definitely use more shade! But when you try and walk in the water it is rocky and the sand is squishy. There is some sea grass, but I think it depends on if it is high tide or not how much there is. There are two men out there every day cleaning it up with pitch forks and wheel barrows. Take a walk down past Sensatori...about 1/2 mile down, there is a nudist resort. Pools-All pools are beautiful & refreshing even at a warm temperature. I used the one at the far side right behind the hobie cats and always had a good wind off of the ocean, could still sea and hear the ocean without having to be on the beach. Drinks-If you aren't sure what to order and see a drink that looks good, just ask what it is and get one. Choices that I liked are: Mudslide! Mango Margarita, Mango Tango, Golden Margarita, Electric Lemonage to name a few. Did not try any wine. Mimosa's were also good. Food-Most of it was good. There are lots of options! The only thing that I really loved were the soups at Ratatouille and Seaside Grill. The pico was awesome. We all have different tastes and you may like something I didn't care for. I thought the service while dining could have been better. There are lots of people always hustling around, but I don't think it is always productive. Room-Always cleaned every day, no complaints. I had an ocean view on the 4th floor. Lots of room! Like how the dresser was in a closet, safe at chest level, and mini frig in closet also. It really made the room open and airy. I didn't realize until I was packing to go I didn't even tryout the jaccuzi tub. I did notice in the shower, that the hot and cold were reveresed from the US. Entertainment-I never made it to a show, as I was usually still dining, but they had a band on the Verande every night but one and that night they had a DJ. That was a lot of fun and a great way to met people. Monday night football on the beach and Barracuda bar. Departure-Quick and easy, but be prepared to do a short survey. I met lots of really nice people and even though I was alone, I felt welcome. I had a relaxing time, which is what I wanted and what I got.

The Hotel is very modern/contemporary, perfect for lounging with a great drink. Restaurants were delicious. (The Hibachi ... isn't as good as what we are used to back at home.) Although men have to wear long pants at night, you can wear jeans. There are multiple pools to choose from depending on how quiet/active you want to be. The entertainment staff is first rate and work hard to make sure you are having a great time. The drinks were good and a dollar tip goes a long way. Nightlife is a little lack luster if you are looking to go clubbing, but the music on the patio was nice and there was great people watching; )

We took a day trip into Puerto Moreles. What an adventure, this is not for everyone. This is a true cultural experience, ... more so than Cancun. More authentic to the Mexican culture. We actually ate at a small resturant north of the peir approximately 3 blocks away, called El Mother-in-law. Excellent food and reasonably priced, very clean and a beautiful view from the deck looking out at the gulf. Spent time at the Jungle Spa located west of Puerto Moreles. I highly recommend. Sandra the owner gives a brief story behind the Jungle Spa and the Mayan people. My husband and I had massages the cost was $35.00 for one hour. We had our belly bottons centered. Who knew they were not centered! Loved this place and the people.
