Recreation is for the ones who love nature settings, health lifestyle and leisure. You can take long walks on the sidewalk and park setting by the beach area; there are very good cozy eating places walking north on E. Cabrillo Drive. It is California style: relaxing and nice. Do not walk far around at night, seen many homeless individuals roaming across the street, although I had no incidents it is a little disturbing. Otherwise 4 1/2 STARS!!

Nice Hotel, needs some amenities....
Frank Oct 26, 2009
We were disappointed that there wasn't a restaurant in the Hotel, the pictures on the web site, clearly show one. When you're ... spending a romantic weekend with your wife, room service sure would help. This hotel doesn't have that either. The room was lovely, however we were originally given a room on the first floor, at the end of the hotel which we didn't feel was very safe. When we changed rooms it was not comprable to what we had reserved. Very disappointing!!!!

Reception was excellent, efficient and professional. Bell staff and valet were really tops, they knew you and your car, the ... moment you step out... It is a very "european" feel place with spectacular beachside location. Have stayed here before and will return! Great job...

The Greatest!

The hotel was in a great location across the street from the ocean and directly on the 25 cent bus route into town. The room ... was big and had a patio overlooking the pool, with ocean views! The beds were very plush and so comfortable. One of the nicest perks was 24 hour cooffee/tea and fruit in the lobby. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Great Location!!!
Joy Sep 7, 2009
The location is absolutely wonderful, directly across from East beach, and within 1 mile from State Street. The room that we ... stayed in was very good sized. We had no problem having our 3 small kids with us in the one Cityside King bed room. Lots of floor space for for kids to play and sleep. The hotel could use a thorough update and upgrade. It was pretty clean, but not up to my preference. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool is pretty little, but who really needs that when the beach is right across the street?! Overall, the location would bring me back here, but I would be very excited if they had updated it before I returned.

Rooms were very clean. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel was in great location. Wish they had a bigger pool, ... but didn't spend much time there as there was too much to do on State Street. They had a nice continental breakfast (complimentary), but that was it for food. However, there are so many restaurants nearby that it didn't matter.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY IN S. B.
PDR GOLFER Jul 9, 2009
WE PLAYED GOLF,WENT SIGHTSEEING, SHOPPED AND DINED AT SOME GREAT RESTAURANTS. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE HARBOR RESTAURANT ON ... THE PIER, HARRY'S CAFE ON STATE STREET AND LUCKY'S RESTAURANT IN MONTECITO. THE INTERIOR DECORATION IS BEAUTIFUL. VERY TROPICAL FEELING. HOWEVER, THE CARPET IN OUR ROOM WAS FILTHY. IT NEEDED SHAMPOOING DESPERATELY. WE WERE ALSO DISAPPOINTED IN THE FACT THAT THEY DON'T HAVE A RESTAURANT & BAR. IT'S JUST NICE WHEN BEING OUT ALL DAY TO COME BACK TO THE HOTEL AND RELAX WITH A COCKTAIL WITHOUT HAVING TO DRIVE ANYWHERE.

The restaurant is closed 24/7 and there is a pathetic buffet forB'fast . Really awful, very much of nothing. There is no ... fitness room. It is valet parking only - and the reason may be to keep traffic noise down for 'mountain view' rooms. A room on the east side 3rd floor may get a mountain view, just barely. Very nice staff otherwise. They even left aChristmas present for me in my room on Christmas eve, that was a nice surprise. They may want it back after reading this review. Overall it is nice, but not my first choice.

Not what I was expecting
Krystina Oct 3, 2007
The hotel was old and even though the walls had been recently papered and painted, the important structural things had not ... been updated. Moldy old tile and bath fixtures (smelled the room), popcorn over the cracked ceilings, broken too-small ceiling fan, no air conditioning, wall paper peeling off walls in bathroom from insufficient fan... the list is long. Additionally the amenities where poor as well; torn bedskirt, no coffee in room, no shampoo/conditioner or bath gel, no in room safe, no comfortable chair to relax on. Our room was supposed to be a 'garden view' but that turned out to be a view of a parking lot and the backside of another tall building; the only 'garden' was a bougainvillea growing on a shed. The staff was very friendly and wonderful, but the hotel was more of a 1 star motel with a nice paint job.

A place to relax
Peggy Aug 14, 2007
The Santa Barbara Inn had all that we wanted a comfortable bed a fantastic restaurant on site serving lunch and dinner and a ... sunday brunch and a staff that were very respectful and pleasant and quick to respond to our request. We had several meals in our room and we did not wait long at all for service. The balcony was large. The room had very fine furnishings with a refrig in room. We enjoyed continental breakfast provided every day, along with the norning news paper. The Inn is right across the street from the beach and close to the warf.
