Relaxing Place!
Kelly Sep 1, 2009
This hotel was RIGHT next to the bridge to Sanibel which made it quick and convient to get there without any hassle. We went ... for a relaxing vacation and that was what we got! When we got there we were suppossed to be in the Grande Bay part of the hotel but got moved to the main hotel where we got a FREE upgrade to a suite which had an amazing view and was a comfortable room. The only bad thing was that there isn't a continental breakfast and since our room got moved we had a mini bar but no microwave or fridge to store grocries which is what we were planning to do and if you wanted to use the mini bar to store things it was a $35fee for them to restock it later. We ate at the Charleys Cabana which had really good flatbreads and the Steakhouse was AMAZING, the food was delicious and well worth the money! The pool was never to crowded and was great for relaxing. We had a great stay at the hotel. The only thing is it is still a resort so at times things can get a bit pricey.

This was our second stay at Sanibel Harbour. I called a couple of days before arrival to request a crib, and to confirm ... number of beds. When we got there, we had what we were promised, although you should be aware that number of beds are subject to availability. Crib was already in the room, ready to be used. We will be back!

Beach Weekend
Madeline Jul 27, 2009
We enjoyed our stay. The hotel grounds are lovely. The staff was polite. The pool was nice. I must say, I make better pina ... coladas. All in all the resort is comfortable and accomodating. While there we visited Bowman's Beach and Lighthouse Beach which were both nice gray sand beaches with lots of shells for the kids to collect. We went to the Island Cow for dinner which was tasty and fun for the kids who visited with the parrots caged behind the restaurant.

Disappointing
jubalrocks Jul 16, 2009
We chose this hotel because it was the only 4 star hotel in Ft Myers. To our disappointment, it was not as good as a 3 star ... hotel that we stayed in just before this 4 day visit. A major disappointment was the hotel's use of add on fees. $20 for parking (per day), $8 for valet service (per day), and $15 (per day) for the use of recreational facilities which we did not use. The hotel did not disclose these fees up front, but rather popped them on us at the last minute. When I asked how to get around the $28 parking and valet fee, I was told that I could park in a lot behind the tennis courts, which I clocked at 1/2 mile away from the front door of the hotel. Another disappointment was that there was no beach. Ft Myers has a beautiful beach, but this hotel which is located adjacent to the causeway to Sanibel has no beach, only several pools. The hotel, itself, at one time must have been impressive, but little things like a buckling tile floor in the reception area, lack of a carafe in the in room coffee maker, and soiled furniture in the rooms detract from the 4 star rating. One morning, as I went downstairs for coffee, which I had to pay for because there was no carafe in our coffee machine, there was a Spanish speaking worker outside our room saying "smoke", "smell smoke". He was standing in front of the air-conditioning unit in the hallway outside our room on the 7th floor. This did not make us feel terribly comfortable or safe. I'm not sure what the outcome of this was, because I turned around, got my husband and any valuables and left. My husband and I actually discussed leaving, but since we had paid for the room up front, we made the decision to stay. On a positive note, the view from our room was breathtaking.

Great hotel from the minute you pull up. The service and rooms were awesome as well as the view from the room. The staff ... was first class all the way. The pool and pool staff also exceptional. Great place to relax
matildaferro Jul 13, 2009
The stay was the most enjoyable and delightful. The staff I would say was the best we have ever seen at a hotel. ALL of them ... were absolutely attentive and polite. We are very happy with the hotel in general. It has 2 beautiful pools with palms, beach with hammaks and its private yacht. There are a lot of places to eat on Sanibel island but you have to pay a toll of 6 dollars every time you go there. The best restaurant that was inexpensive with outstanding food was the Prawnbroker.Definitely try their escargot!!!!! the bowman beach on Sanibel is very beautiful and is plentiful with shells. We went on a Shelling Cruise which cost us 55 dollars a person. We were a little disappointed because the whole trip took about 6 hours and we stayed on the beach only for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
