unbeatable location for the price

The hotel was nice and small. The room was clean. The only problem was the bathroom had only a stand up shower and the ... floor gets wet alot. The room was small but for the length of time I was there it was okay. The air condidtion did not work very well. The hot water also did not work. Took them a whole day to fix the hot water. Overall for the price and location of the hotel it was priced very well. The location is good. In the heart of everything. For a nonn all inclusive hotel it was very clean and quiet and well maintenance. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to have a vacation that dont want the hotel to break your budget.

The staff was wounderful. I would not call it a resort but a weekly rental. There is noting wrong with that but the upkeep on ... the grounds as well as the rooms could have been better. Perfect location for shoping, nightlife, and the beach.

The location was unbeatable, in the heart of everything. Walking distance to supermarket, pharmacy, souvenir shops, craft ... market, restaurants, etc. The rooms are clean but simple and could use some updating. No elevator to the rooms and restaurant, only stairs. The atmosphere is laidback and relaxing. Staff was friendly. Pool was nice but small. The room safes don't work and you are required to put down deposits to use the safe at the front desk and if you want to use the remote for the tv, also for towels at the pool. Access to the beach is close.

Change your money into jamaican currency first of all, it stretches farther. Buy groceries at a local supermarket or an outside market and cook in the room instead of eating out every meal. This will definately save you some money!

Be careful of beggers. They will ask you for money to gauge how much money you have in an attempt to rob you. Be careful and do not give them any money. The nightlife sucks during the week as that everything closes early. The only places available was the Hard Rock and Margaritaville.

I was on vacation with my wife when I stayed at the Sand Castle Resort. I booked my room based on a friend's advice. My ... friend and I will be talking very soon...I was disappointed with this hotel. Rooms hotel would've been a better choice. The hotel needs lots of detailed maintenance attention. Parts of the pool was cloudy, the showers had low pressure, the pool slide needs to be painted, and the pillow cases were dirty. When I asked for new ones, they took 1 hour to get them to me. It needs an upgrade badly. All of the rooms have wall untis and our a/c did not work as well. The most upsetting of all, it advertised complimentary breakfast but, I had to pay anyway. It also advertised a bar that would serve food but, I never saw anyone there. The only bright spots was the location, the hotel was quiet, and was right on the beach.

It got better
Sissy Apr 23, 2009
Upon arrival I was given my room, which was completely in the rear of the resort. I needed a shower as I had been sick on the ... plane. I got to the room and got into the shower which only had cold water, and leaked out onto the floor flooding the entry of the room. The television would not work and there was not phone in the room to report it to the front desk. I had to get out of the shower, get dressed and go back to the front to report the room. I was however given a new room, and it had been upgraded to a suite. It was so pretty and clean and great bathroom with hot water. Then I was happy and satisfied and comfortable.

Make sure that if the resort or hotel says it serves 3 meals a day that if fact it does. Sand Castles was only doing breakfast, since it was slow. So other meals had to be aquired elsewhere. And bring enough money to do the things you really want to do, if you want more than relaxation. Two people should consider approximately $200.00 per day, to eat and shop and maybe something fun to do.

Great family budget conscious hotel
ELA Apr 22, 2009
This is a great location for someone or families on a budget. It is the perfect location as you can walk to almost anywhere ... in the town. This is not the best hotel, but it certainly is not the worst and I would recommend it to others. The rooms are privately own, so some are better than others, but we were lucky to get a good room. The only thing missing was a microwave...The beach is right at the back of the hotel and there is a Park across the street for families with kids. Basically there is something for everyone at any age.

There is a restaurant on the property that sells breakfast and lunch, but venture outside and buy from the local restaurants as the prices are half that and the food is great. there are two close by less than 200 yardsthat serves 3 daily local dishes

from the service desk attendant to the ground keepers every one very friendly and help to answer my questions. the setting ... very private yet fun. the room was very clean and well kept i had all that i needed. the view was wonderful with its private beach it was walking distance from shops, restaurants, casino. A lively night life i especially was very happy with the security for the hotel they were very observant and never neglect to make sure that we were staying at the hotel therefor no one who did not belong could easily enter unless there was a permission request from the guest. my overal view i loved it and i would return again and would recomend to all first timer's

Better Than expected
Ranaya May 18, 2007
This hotel was very clean and for the most part the staff were friendly. I do wish that the menu had more options (i.e. jerk ... chicken besides being served at the pool menu). The maid staff kept my room extremely clean and tidy. I do wish that the lighting in the rooms were alot brighter esp during the night time. Plus the rooms could benefit from mircowaves if possible. It is in the perfect location to shops, resturants and the BEACH! All in all it was a good stay.
