We were only there for one night and it was enough! This will probably be very nice when the renovation is completed, but for ... right now I would not recommend this hotel. The rooms were decorated in the late 70's style and the mattress felt like it was that old too. The towels were grey and dingy, and the carpet stained. The front desk was very disorganized and couldn't seem to figure out where to put the guests and we were asked to stand aside while they took care of guests that had "reservations". We did book on short notice but I don't think that we needed to be kicked to the back of the line until the front desk got themselves organized. The area surrounding the hotel is nice and I would recommend it.

the hotel didn't conclude restructuring (announced for 31/10), there is people working, lot of noise: anyway they didn't ... restructure rooms, still dirty, orrible, wet (originally '60). The lobby will be perfect in a few weeks but the entire floor is a disco!! the first dance-party was on up to 3am, with all the people (few, anyway) in the rooms very upset. The hair dry did't work, there are no phone in many rooms, and they don't work!! the only public phone is in the first underfloor, close to a dead mouse! Sometimes they forgot to clean the room and we find at night the bed and everything like it was in the morning. orrible. never again!

Hotel was under reconstruction. The main lobby and dinning area was dusty. People eating breakfast in middle of the ... construction. No isolation was in place to prevent the dirt going over the tables. No excuse for not maintaining area really dust-free. Overall the room was clean and spacious. Elevator was fast and clean. Beach area was beautifull and accessible was great. Good place close to other areas in Condado area.

Bop bop Jul 2, 2009
Due to the adds, we were exxpecting a great stay; but it was the worst experience we ever had in a hotel. Not only was it ... under contruction; the managment did not seem to care we were displeased. They made no effort to compensate us. The rooms were dirty and i had to call two times to get them to service the it. The part of the hotel that was functional was dirty. Perhaps when they complete the construction it will be better??

Horrible, Terrible and NEVER again
sheila Jun 26, 2009
The entire stay was without a phone. It didnt work and wasnt repaired after NUMBEROUS complaints. The air conditioner ... leaked water HORRIFICALLY - the entire floor and carpet was soaked and again not repaired after numerous calls. The "lagoon view" is a parking lot - a huge parking lot and then a lagoon. Cleanliness was adequate, but untrustworthy considering the soaked carpet. No Continental breakfast as promised. The hotel is under Major Renovation which it desperately needs, but no mention of MAJOR renovation the blurb noted implied it was somewhat less. and since continental breakfast was to have been a feature, we werent aware that the Restaurant would also Be CLOSED. All in all a horrible stay. Staff was although courteous unresponsive. understandably had to wait for check-in time, but forced to take insulin and other life required meds in the lobby. I felt staff could have offered a private area for those needs for just a few minutes.

We think that this hotel need to be canceled by the City. Is under remodeling and you can find construction staff everywhere, ... including lobby and other public areas. We stay 2 nights and never got a room service. We claim for towels and a partial refund and the manager offered an "American full breakfast" to compensate but it open so late for us despite that the promise for 7 AM... it opened after 8 AM! The price didn't compensate the service. You can find better hotels for that price range and similar location. Just try to get a phone communication with them. We try several times to confirm our arrival time and room we liked. We make a reservation for a king size bed and when we arrive there (on time) the room was not available! Etc. etc...

Experience was horrible, yes hotel was under renovation in the lobby, but no need for the rooms to be the way they were. The ... first room was trashy bottles all over the room, bed was left unmade, move to second room which was sweaty and mildewy, smelly molded, pillows was also mildew, no maid service, no phone in rooms. The third room some mildew and no room service. My overall opinion they should not be renting out some of the rooms which also needs renovations due to mildew and sweatiness as you walk through the door.

THERE WAS CONSTUCTION IN THE LOBBY AND THE HOTEL WAS AT A TERRIBLE LOCATION. THE HOTEL ROOM WAS SMALL AND DIRTY. THE HOTEL ... NAME IS THE PERFECT WAY TO CON PEOPLE INTO MAKING A RESERVATION TO STAY THER. WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A RESORT TYPE SETTING ON THE BEACH WITH WONDERFUL SERVICE.. WE WERE TOTALLY WRONG. WE CANCELLED OUR RESERVATION AND STAYED SOMEWHERE ELSE THE SAME DAY WE GOT THERE. WE WOULD NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL EVER AGAIN EVEN IF IT WAS FOR FREE.....

the pool was only open the day we got there and due to the construction was closed the rest of the time (it was ok i don't ... think pools are supposed to be slime green) Our power in our room went out twice. and then finally had to move to a better room (with power) everything was damp and smelled a lil like mold. (there was mold on the ceiling of our room) I think this hotel will be great once the construction is done and they install dehumidifyers. The staff however was great and very helpfull. this hotel just needs someone to take care of it and i don't think the owners are doing a very good job of checkin to see if the rooms are cleand correctly and everything is in order for there guests. sad its in such a great spot and is not being takin care of.

angelinabond May 26, 2009
The location of this place is amazing - and most of the rooms have a direct view of the beach, so you can hear the waves all ... night. I loved that. However, for about 3 hours there was no running water due to the massive construction in the lobby. This was the cheapest hotel I could find, so I couldn't complain... but for $75/night, I would like water and clean towels (not blackened). However, the staff was very nice and helpful. The sheets and towels don't look or smell like they are cleaned after every guest, but again... for the cheapest price you can get in Conado, this is what you get. Def doable if you're not high maintenance.

2 miles away from old san juan - walking distance: 1 hr. Bus stop is nearby. Banks are nearby. Other hotels are nearby. Isla verde is nearby and so is the airport. But unlike hotels in Isla Verde, in Conado you don't hear a plane every time one takes off or lands.

Great location, great price
Young Gentleman May 22, 2009
The San Juan Beach Hotel is in a great location in lying right at the Condado Beach, 10 minute bus drive to Old San Juan and ... everything you could possibly need when staying on a vacation. Walgreens about 2 blocks away, park where the beach is, 24 hour convenience stores, swimming part of the beach was less than a 5 minute walk away, Chilli's across the street, Subway a little farther down, Starbucks, Haagen Dazs, souvenir shops, local restaurants and bars, bus stops very close to the hotel, tattoo shop near by. Everywhere we went seafood was very cheap (I'm from MA so I know seafood prices). The pool was in the back of the hotel with a view of the beach and was great. The people who didn't use it lost out on a lot. It lies right under the sun so it's a very refreshing swim. The staff was very helpful when we asked them anything, the lobby was under construction but you can't knock them down for that every place has to go through it. Computer with internet and pay phones available where the lobby was. Elevator was surprisingly quick (we were on the 9th floor and it felt like we were on the 2nd or 3rd floor). The complimentary breakfast was very good. It had OJ, fruit punch, bagels, muffins, cereal, omelette's were 3 bucks each and were very good and definitely worth it. The only negatives I found were that towels and bed sheets had been in the hotel for a while (stains) and the carpet in the hallway was a little stained too and the WiFi didn't have a strong signal. Otherwise, great place to be and definitely will go again without question.
