TERRIBLE hotel stay!!!
Kim Nov 12, 2009
My experience at this hotel was one I never want to have again!! The staff was very rude, the rooms were uncomfortable and so ... small you could barely move!!! The worst of it all was parking we had free parking included in our package and when we got to the hotel to check in we were told parking was first come first serve and we ended up having to park 2 miles down the road and pay an extra thirty dollars to park in the garage. I would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel!!!

Bourbon Street is expensive. If you are planning on going out at night I would suggest bringing your own alcohol in a plastic bottle. Most bars allow outside drinks.

This was my 2nd stay here. I think it's a great price for the location. Very convenient walking distance to French Quarter ... and the Business District. The street car stop is right outside the door, can't beat that! I'm from Baton Rouge, LA so we know where the best places are to stay. This is our preferred hotel for the money.

Nice Experience
Joe Oct 9, 2009
We didn't spend a lot of time in the room so this hotel was great for what we wanted. Great location, very short walk to ... bourbon street. Only complaints were that we didn't get the room we booked (which they probably would have fixed if we would have asked), the shower in our room had terrible water pressure, and the walls are very, very thin. Service was good, room seemed clean, overall great room for the price.

They mentioned free parking when the reservation was made. Upon arrival they informed us it was first come first served ... basis. I felt like that was something that should have been mentioned ahead of time. Other than the small rooms the stay was great.

My review of Royal St. Charles
Vincent Sep 8, 2008
The Royal St. Charles is a real gem of a hotel set in New Orleans just off of Canal St. and very close to Bourbon St. and the ... French Quarter and offers genuine value for travel dollars expended. The rates are just about what some down-market hotel properties in Metairie and Kenner charge. What really separates this hotel from the pack are the linens and bedding - high quality, luxurious, and comfortable with an over-abundance of fluffy pillows provided. The towels are adequate but could be upgraded. The room was small - but clean and inviting, and very quiet - I never heard another guest or any outside activity while in my room. The shower provided plenty of hot water on demand. There is a bar, usually not very busy, but no restaurant at this hotel. The staff has a professional bearing and is helpful and friendly. This hotel charges an add-on fee of $6.95/day which covers unlimited long-distance domestic and local telephone calls and a light Continental breakfast and coffee offered in the lobby every morning - a fair value. There is no on-site parking - the guest's choices are to pay $15.00/day plus gratuities for valet parking or to park on the street. I chose the street and was easily able to locate a spot and had no problems resulting from this decision - the car was still there and in the same condition I had left it in the next morning. Parking on the street is free between 6:00 P. M. and 8:00 A. M. When I checked in one of N.O.P.D.'s finest was in the lobby taking a stolen vehicle report from a guest - so obviously there are some parking risks involved here. The Royal St. Charles is directly across the street from a large Courtyard by Marriott and just down the street from a large Hilton hotel - resulting in competitive market pressures that cause this property to offer great value to keep it's place in the hospitality property constellation of New Orleans.

Drop your companions and luggage off at the lobby before parking so you are not schleping luggage down the street. The New Orleans RTA street car route goes right by the hotel on Canal St. and St. Charles Avenue so you can easily get to the hotel via public transportation.
