The staff is great, and come around often to assure you have a drink while sitting at the pool/beach. Hotel has evening ... entertainment throughout the week and the shows are great. Hotel is about a 20 minute walk from San Jose (or 5min $5 taxi), which has food, drinks, and shopping. Hotel is about 30 minutes in a shuttle/taxi from Cabo San Lucas. Shuttle is $9 USD each way and taxi is $35. If going to party, this hotel is too far away. Hotel is good for those wanting to relax and remain at the hotel the majority of their vacation.

There is a restaurant/bar when you first get into San Jose on the right hand side. I believe it was called Teo Bar - AWESOME food! It is very inexpensive, especially compared to the fine dining restaurants in San Jose. The place is casual. Try a filet, lobster, or the catch of the day each for under $20 USD. They use organic vegetables from a local farmer.

The room was great and the staff was very friendly. We didn't like that the kids were splashing all around us and also in ... front of the bar in the pool, getting pool water in our drinks. It would have been better if they had had a separate pool for the children. Also, it is all-inclusive but there weren't a lot of choices on the menues or with the room service and a lot of restrictions on what/when you could eat.

major hotel in san jose del cabo
a fisherman Oct 20, 2009
Our group of nine people stayed there for four days on a fishing trip. We fished in the mornings and relaxed at the ... excellent pool in the afternoons. We had changed to that hotel, because they previously allowed us to use their main freezers for our fish, which froze the fish within a day. During the year, however, they changed to some portable freezers near the lobby, which simply did not freeze the fish, which in turn could be a health hazard to our families. We reported it, but got no reassurance that they would fix the problem, and the general manager who made the decision was not available. In their defense, I agree with the concept that they were protecting their hotel food from possible contamination. The solution would be to have adequate freezers available or warn us far enough in advance to reconsider whether to stay there. The best part of the hotel was the regular staff, who were outstanding. They could not have tried harder to help us. The only exception was the Italian restaurant, who purported to have a dress code and reservation requirements, which we saw were sometimes ignored in reality, and which should have been ignored in a hotel designed for the casual nature comfort of the people who were staying there. Again, the problem was upper management who made the irrational rules.

Time share sales pitch a real downer
Dissapointed Sep 29, 2009
Beautiful hotel, right on beautiful beach. However, their sleazy way of making you sit with a "representative" who is ... actually going to try and sucker you into a time share pitch before allowing you to go to the front desk to check in reeks of a much less classy joint. This has happened to us in Mexico before and this time we refused but this initial nasty experience colored our whole stay. Would reccommend much more highly if the time share schpiel was not there. ...

Royal Solaris Great Vacation
Not Plain Jane Sep 13, 2009
The Royal Solaris did live up to its reputation for service and quality. The staff was exceptional. Our personal ... representive, [...], was great. The staff could speak english very well. We did attend the 90 minute presentation to recieve everything that they were giving for free, a bottle of champaign, 1 free ticket for a boat snorkeling trip, and 2 tickets for a beach Tiki party. We chose to do the Candeleria ATV tour, It was great. We drove thru the desert and on the beach. The only big complaint was the cost of a taxi. To get from the resort to the downtown Cabo area was $35 per person for one way. We took the bus for only $2.50 one way per person. A little more hassle but well worth it. The resort offered a shuttle for $12.50 per person for one way, however , there had to be four people going or you had to pay for the people that were not there. The Marco Polo restuarant was excellent. The rest of the time it was all buffets. The entertainment staff work from eight in the morning until as late as eleven everynight. They entertained around the pool all day and then did shows most everynight. They engaged everyone learning names and where you were from. [...] was great! This is our third time to Mexico. We have been to Cancun, Cozomel and now Cabo San Lucas. The Royal Solaris was the best resort of the three for their dedication and attention to every detail of our stay.

Take the bus to get to downtown Cabo. Taxis are way to expensive. One of the best deals in Cabo is the water taxi to Lovers Beach. Only $10 dollars round trip per person. They take you to the beach and come back for you at set time. We stayed two hours.

Lovely town but choose another resort
Becca Aug 18, 2009
Having two older teenagers, we were looking for a quiet vacation. We did not want to sit by the main pool with screaming ... kids, yet were harrassed by the staff for having a 15 year old at the adult pool. Food was mediocre; reservations at ala carte venues ridiculously hard to get. Gym too small and had all old equipment. Lengthy push at check-in for membership purchase. Terrible wine selection. Great location.

Ang Aug 18, 2009
We intended to have a fun in the sun, relaxing vacation, which we did. The one true downside was all the families and ... children that were there to keep the noise level higher than wanted. Also, the main pool was so crowded with kids it was hard to enjoy the adult swim-up bar. The adults only pool was nice, however, it became extremly crowded at times because of all the children in the other pool. Overall, friendly staff, clean facilities, good service and food and, would most-likely return again.

Very nice architecture and grounds and right on the beach with impressive surf--you can hear it from the balconies and the ... quiet pool. However, they lack sufficient shade by most of the pools. Only the children's pool had a shade palapa. The best you could get at the other pools was partial shade--not good if you're serious about avoiding skin cancer.
