the hotel needs lots of repair
not just being pickie Oct 18, 2009
The lobby is wonderful. The room and hallways are in need of repairs. The wallpaper is peeling, there was mold around the ... bathroom sink, no comfortable chairs to sit in we took the lawn chairs from the patio and brought them inside, the furniture needs replaced, the rubber backing on the curtains was peeling off. Had to ask for coffee packets each day for the next morning and the hallways had a very dirty smell to them. While watching tv on evening a new customer just slid their key card in our door and walked in!!! The hotel did give us a new key card immediately however, stayed in numerous hotels before and that was a new experience. More than likely we would not stay at this hotel again even though the location was great. The staff were more than courtesy and kind.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. We especially liked the valet service and breakfast ... buffet. Quite a value for what we paid! It is within walking distance from Waikiki shops and restaurants. We'd stay again for sure!

Gyu-Kaku is a very interesting Japanese restaurant that is a little expensive but very authentic food, just like we had at a dinner party at a house in Hiroshima. You get to grill your food over a charcoal grill in the middle of your table.

Surprisingly, internet cafes are hard to find around Waikiki. Walk to the ING building a couple blocks away, and they give you free 45 minutes of internet, and the cafe has good quality, inexpensive food and drinks.

Much more than we normally pay for...
The R Family Sep 24, 2009
Impressive lobby and decor; valet parking is mandatory ($14/day) but was only a few dollars more than parking elsewhere and ... the staff was responsive and curteous; there were a few maintenence issues in the hotel - a torn couch in our suite and scratches inside the elevator doors (they were gold colored and might scratch easily). A much fancier hotel than we have ever paid for and we were also pleased with the view from our small balconies. Didn't spend much time here besides sleeping and breakfast, but we did spend one evening at the pool which was very nice.

Since I only used the hotel as a place to rest, I can't say much about its faclities. The room, however, was not as clean as ... I'd hope. For the price though, I didn't expect much to begin with.

This hotel is clearly aging a bit, but is still quite a decent place. It was clean, quiet, and the staff were VERY friendly. ... Don't expect the Hilton, but for the price and location it's a very reasonable place to stay.

Awesome hotel! Def. would stay again!
Arch Jun 7, 2009
This hotel was completely awesome! Especially for the price!! Location is very good -- close to shops, parks, and beach. We ... stayed on the 25th floor, and the views were breath-taking. Only thing we didn't like was that there weren't any complimentary bottles of water, or any silver-ware of any sort. However it won't be fair to compare a 3 star hotel to a 5 star hotel so therefore, those things are easy to ignore. I would most def. stay here again.

Good for the price paid
Budget Traveler May 13, 2009
My stay at the Royal Garden Waikiki was satisfactory. The hotel is extremely affordable and if you are not looking for ... luxury, this hotel will suffice your needs - for a place to sleep and shower. We asked the concierge for directions and they were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The valet guys were very friendly and helpful as well. They were always there to greet you every time you returned. I would recommend this hotel if you are on a budget. My only complaints are that the curtains, carpet were really dirty.. and their blankets are pretty gross. If you have space in your luggage, pack your own blanket!

The location is okay but if u rent a car and don't wanna pay for parking, it's just right for u. It takes 10 minutes walk to ... the beach but u wouldn't feel bored walking there. The room was pretty nice, just the shower wasn't as great. also, it's clean. I would recommend this hotel for someone who has limited budget and doesn't require luxury hotels.
