I travelled to Richmond to attend the VUU's homecoming. The hotel accommodations were very good. The staff was professional ... and courteous. The food and services were excellent.

I frequently stay in the Marriott Key Bridge. This decor was prettier. Overall the hotel is attractive, comfortable and ... clean. I did not have the opportunity to check if there was a pool, health spa, business center or other amenities. When I made my reservation on [...] they could only say that my reservation was for a single room with either a king bed or two double beds. When I phoned ahead to the Marriott directly to request a king bed with rollaway, I was told they could not arrange that. When we arrived, I again stated my request for the King with rollaway and they changed the room, provided the extra towels and pillows and the rollaway. I was left to wonder why that wasn't done in the first place to avoid my frustration and the receptionist's. We had breakfast in the restaurant. I chose the buffet and helped myself. My two companions ordered from the menu. It took about 30 minutes for their simple breakfasts to arrive. Then there was a complication about the included complementary breakfast for two. It took some figuring out on the part of the hostess while I explained what I was accustomed to from the Marriott Key Bridge.Finally, upon departing, I had to explain the breakfast bill situation and wait while the receptionist/cashier went back to the restaurant to check things out. Then she had to reprocess and reprint my amended bill. All this was frustrating and detracted from my overall impression of the hotel.

I was in town for a tournament that my daughter was paricipating in. I choose the Marriott because it is so close to the ... Richmond Convention Center. Overall I had a good experience with the hotel. The initial staff member I encountered at check in was a little unfriendly, but everyone after that was great. Booking through, Orbitz, I got a room rate that included breakfast and was much cheaper than if I tried to get the same room through Marriott. There aren't a lot of places nearby to eat so getting a free breakfast was a HUGE factor in choosing to stay at this hote.

For good reason, there are a lot of people shuffling about for the conference center and easy to find restrooms. The room had ... nice soaps, excellent soft pillows, but also had the typical mildew smell near the AC. Look in the closet for the hair-dryer.

The hotel is being remodeled by floor. I was in a remodeled room and it was fine. The hotel has a problem of lack of ... sound proofing. At 5am I heard numerous Blackberry alarms. It is probably not an easy fix. Dinner service was slow but the food was good.

The Marriott in Downtown Richmond Virginia, has a very pleasant and personable staff. The Hotel is close to many ... historical sites, and museums, as well as fine dining. The Hotel has a great work out facility, as well as a generous size indoor swimming pool for laps. The rooms seemed a bit outdated, not equipped with a refrigerator, or microwave, but did offer a coffee maker and hairdryer. The convenience of a starbucks located in the hotel lobby was a nice perk!
