Huge room - good deal!
Potts Sep 16, 2009
Having a couple of days off work, we decided to go somewhere we'd never been before and found a good flight/hotel package to ... the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside. We arrived at the hotel at around 9.30am, so we weren't expecting to be able to get access to our room straight away. However, to our surprise, we were told that our room was ready, so we were able to check in and start our holiday immediately. The hotel was in a great location and our bedroom was huge! We didn't have a harbour view, but knew that when we booked, so it wasn't a problem. The only issues we had with the room were with the beds. There were two small double beds in the room, but as a couple, we only needed one of them. The room was so large that a couple of queen-sized ones would easily have fit, which would have given us more room for sleeping. Also, the mattress was a little too soft for our liking, but I don't think it would have been such an issue if the bed had been bigger. Other than that, the hotel was great. It's in a great location for downtown, walks along the harbour and around Stanley Park. We were also pleasantly surprised at how nice the beaches are around Vancouver and with the weather being so great, we spent a couple of enjoyable afternoons relaxing one one or more of them.

yGood Location for End of Cruise Hotel
Helen S Sep 14, 2009
Hotel staff was excellent. Allowed us to have early check in. Rooms were very nice. My only negative comment is about the ... wait for food after it was ordered in the restaurant (one hour). Food was excellent. Manager responded quickly to our concerns after he was aprised of our waiting time. Will use this hotel again when in Vancouver.

Outstanding Hotel!
Janeece Jun 22, 2009
My family loved this hotel stay. The front desk greeted us courteously and gave us vouchers for the delicious buffet b'fast ... (which was part of our rate on Orbitz). The bedding is heavenly. We slept wonderfully the night before our cruise departed. We stored our luggage with the bellman (10 pieces) and gave them a $10 USD tip while we took the Big Bus all around Vancouver for a few hours before heading to the cruise terminal.

Walkings around the hotel are great, very close to downtown, nice restaurants and stores. It needs some new equipment or ... maintenance in the fitness center. We liked a lot not be limited to enjoy the jacuzzi and swimming pool after 10pm.

Close to cruise ships
S.G. May 25, 2009
This is a great location close to Canada Place. We were also able to walk around Stanley Park. If I go back, I would rent a ... bike (there are several rentals close by)and ride around the park for a few hours. Vancouver is expensive and this hotel was no exception, but the rooms were clean and the staff was helpful. If you are leaving on a cruise, I would still take a taxi to Canada Place. That way the driver will take you right to the baggage drop off(it's a longer walk than you think). The wait to get on the ship was long, so we were able to leave and come back a few hours later without our bags to worry about. The hotel will also keep your bags for you until you need to leave.

There is a grocery store/deli a half block from the hotel that served good, inexpensive food. It was especially good for breakfast.

Great Value for Price
Russell Apr 18, 2008
My wife and I regularly stay in the Coal Harbour area of Downtown Vancouver when we come to check on our investment ... properties. The Renaissance offers a pretty good value for the money, especially considering other prices in this area. On our last stay, they were undergoing renovations, however the staff was extremely helpful (as usual) and made sure to overcome any construction inconveniences.

Hop onto the seawall (one block away) and stroll on up to Stanley Park. Hike around and build up an appetite for dinner or lunch at the Sequoia Grill/Teahouse Restaurant at Stanley Park. Take the long way around Stanley Park and dine at Sequoia, then cut through Lost Lagoon on the way back.
