There was a Von's grocery store around the corner and a Trader Joe's across the street. Other than that, there were fast food places nearby. There were more boutique stores on the Pacific Coast Highway (Route #1) about 1.5+ miles away.

The only thing I wish for is less chemical smell upon entering the room. However, after two minutes, you dont notice it ... anymore. Also, the toilet would have to refill slightly every half hour or so. (it needed a new rubber stopper).

good place to stay
Ralph Jul 28, 2009
This hotel was in a good location and not far from all that we wanted to see and do. We liked the fact that it was in a ... fairly quiet area. Our coffee maker didn't work and they immediately sent a new one to our room. The maids kept our room nice and neat. We liked the dining area. It was cute with candles on the tables, but there was no music which would have made it a little more fun. The room above ours was very noisy. Had thumping noises and someone walking back and forth until early morning hours. This began again around 6:00 a.m. We're not sure if this room was a linen or laundry area for housekeeping, but it made sleeping a little tough. If we had been in another room, we would have had no complaints. We will definitely stay there again.

Convenient location
Susan L Jul 11, 2009
There seemed to be inexperienced staff at the front desk - I did receive a UPS package as planned; however, when I attempted ... to send the package back to my home on the last day of my trip there was confusion about the UPS pick-up (which I had prepaid), and it didn't happen. Now I have to follow-up to insure its delivery. The room was clean, but just adequate. The work-out room was very small. The location was perfect for my business. I appreciated the Trader Joe's that was across the street. The hotel was .9 miles from the hospital where I was working, and about the same distance to the ocean for swimming. Starbucks wasn't too far away, as well as some nice restaurants. I would have expected a little better room for a three-star AAA rating.

Close to the beach, but a little too far to walk. Can't beat Southern California in June. A bit of traffic around the hotel ... due to road construction. All in all, this was a great getaway for us.

Sisters May 9, 2009
We were visiting family and have stayed here before without problems. This time the room next door had a big party. We asked ... them to please be quiet and then finally called the front desk at 1:30 am to complain. The noise continued until 4:30 mainly people banging the door to smoke outside our room. We were told the next morning by Ramada that they could not offer us any compensation for not sleeping because we rented the room from Orbitz.

Great location for touring southern California
Stanley Sep 24, 2008
The hotel is a pleasant place to stay and it proved to be a great location for taking daily trips to various places in the ... area. We spent seven nights at the hotel and the wife and I could not have been more pleased with our accommodations. For breakfast, if you're in a hurry, take advantage of the continental breakfast at the hotel (a very clean area). If you have time and want a more substantial breakfast walk next door to the Denny's. At nightime our room was very quiet and we rested very well. The staff was pleasant to deal with and the hotel grounds were immaculate. We will use the hotel on our next visit to the area and we will recommend the hotel to our friends and family.

Ramada Limited & Suites Costa Mesa/Newport Beach was good value for money. If you need affordable, clean basic accomodation, ... quite centrally located this would be a good choice hotel. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was only a few minutes walk from Starbucks and Trader Joes which was great.

Never Again!
Heather Aug 11, 2008
The beds were horrible and very uncomfortable. Cleaning service was never timely and there was one day when our room was not ... even cleaned. Complaining to front desk was unanswered. AC was turned off after 10pm and not started until the next morning. Shower water temperature was so variable we almost burned out skin and then froze! Breakfast was ok during the week, but weekends was hardly a breakfast. was allowed a late check out after much complaining.

Everything about the Ramada Limied in Costa Mesa, California was great. A small walk to Del Taco and the produce market was ... even better. It was quite but close enough to some shopping and eating. The only thin I did not like was when I was checking my e-mail on the computer at the front office the clerks where having a personal phone call and used some profanity in English and Spanish. Know both languages I was did not think it was proper of them to do so knowing that I was there. Would they have talked like that in front of children? I don't know. Other than that, my friend, who had never been to California before, ejoyed herself at the hotel and all around.

On Saturday night, a ...
Wayne Aug 13, 2007
On Saturday night, a group decided to party until about 2:30 in the morning, accompanied by door slamming and loud talking in ... the passageways. I'm not against having a good time, but hotel management should start shutting down the above normal noise about midnight, in consideration of their other guests. Outside of this, we enjoyed our stay. Very comfortable bed, clean room (but noisy air conditioner)and close to restaurants and various recreational activities.

Call The Yellow Cab company for an easy way to get to a nice restaurant (after checking for one in the Yellow Pages). It's worth the cost if you are not familiar with the area.
