Check in staff was friendly, after I finally got there! The name of the hotel on [...] is a different name than on the actual ... hotel. It was tucked back with no signage. Hideous yellow, make-you-eyes bleed yellow walls, filthy carpets, thin stained sheets, and people partying in the hallways all night. I travel a lot and this is one of the worst places I have ever stayed.

Swept very large cockroaches out of our room several times. Stay would have been better with a working 1) Clock radio, 2) ... Coffee maker and the pen didn't even work. Had to ask up front for more toilet paper (started out with 1/4 of a roll, tissue paper and shampoo. Had asked for no room cleaning but requested more clean towels - got none. On the good side, the front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. My charge was less then I had expected.

This place was listed when I was looking for rooms on Tybee Island. I was expecting to be on Tybee Island (close to the Pirate Festival)and was instead at least 1/2 hour drive ($45.00 to $80.00 taxi ride) from it. No sign saying "Ramada", had to drive by 3 times and ask directions to find "The Club House Inn" at the listed address, (it's not on the main dr., it's behind the Cuckee Cheese), (they changed the name again while we were there to "The Garden Suites" who knew.

Absolutely horrid

No wonder Ramada doesn't even have it's name on this hotel anymore. It's more aptly renamed "Clubhouse Suites" behind Chuck E ... Cheeses in case you can't find it. 1st room was occupied w/male who had his pants off. 2nd room had no power. 3rd room very smokey (even tho supposed to be non-smoking) & was all they had left. Poor front desk girl didn't know what to do. At least she brought me air freshner. Took it & when I went to lay down, I noticed red stain on ceiling which could have possibly been blood. I don't know. (Got pic) Very noisy all night long until nearly 4 am. Had somebody pound & sound like trying to get into my room at 5:45 am. Hair dryer apparently stolen. And have picture of hugest cockroach I have ever seen. I slept with my pepper foam all night long and am just glad my car wasn't dismantled when I left.

Overall a great stay for the $, BUT.....

Charleston Underground Sep 20, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Overall the stay was very nice. Great price. Book last min and saved over $20 per night. Hard location to find, with no ... road sing. It is behind the Chuck E Cheese. The hotel is the old "Clubhouse Inn" It is a little dated but the room was clean and the hot tub was nice. The managers reception was nice with all you can drink cocktails. (Cheep stuff but its free) The one MASSIVE problem that I have is that this morning as we were entering in to the lounge for breakfast the TV was on inappropriate channel with excessive cursing. (We have small children) No one was watching the tv and there were only 2 other people in the lounge at the time. We turned the channel to the news to catch the weather. A few moments later as we were watching the news and eating our breakfast the front desk clerk came out from behind the desk, plopped down on the couch and turned the channel back to the previous show. I immediately informed her that we we watching the news and she had the gonads to tell us, her PAYING GUEST that she was watching her show first!!!! I was speechless. My loving and non-confrontational wife prevented me from going ballistic on this rude woman. This will not prevent us from staying there in the future but I will be calling the GM in the morning and asking the GM for the regional managers phone # to insure this poor excuse for an employee is dealt with. All the other staff were very pleasant to deal with.

The hotel must be going through renovations of some sort, but I didn't enjoy my stay. It was not very clean, it had a ... certain smell to it that I couldn't figure out, and the hallways were muggy. After staying at the La Quinta across the street I decided to save some money for my second night in town and went across the ... street to this hotel. Time savers hint, Short Drive

This is one town where you definitely want to go on the trolley tours. I wish I had done it my first day instead of wasting time driving to all the things I wanted to see. It was muggy when I went and taking the trolley saved me from trying to walk to each of the squares in the heat. If you are going in cooler weather and want a longer walk then you could probably skip the tour but you would miss out on the wonderful guides with local knowledge! (I took Old Savannah Trolley Tours for $22, but Oglethorpe is about $15)

"so-so" stay

Weary Mom from LA Aug 10, 2009

I was in Savannah to move my daughter into her dorm & attend orientation at SSU for a long weekend. The staff, altho not ... necessarily friendly, were polite & helpful, willing to answer any questions. The hotel lobby & common area appeared to be clean but the hallways to the rooms were dingy & malodorous (never could quite decide what the smell was - cat urine, dirty diapers, mildew, rot, or maybe a combination of all of those). My room was clean but again, looked dingy. The bathroom was filthy (ring in toilet, dead roach on floor, & the bathtub - OMG, the bathtub was gross - black dirt & some undefinable crud that looked disconcertingly like human flesh). It really made me want to walk out & find other accommodations. Fortunately for the staff, I was tired after traveling for 12 hrs & cut them a break, just calling to ask if they could come take a look at the bathroom & give it a good scrub. Unfortunately for me, I decided to skip the long awaited shower after waiting 30 min for housekeeping & I left to meet up with my daughter, asking at the desk if they could please come clean the bathroom. When I returned several hrs later, the tub & toilet sparkled. The location was good for me - about 10 min from SSU & the historic district, shopping, gas stations, Starbucks a few blocks away & Denny's across the street. There was a computer room where I was able to do an online check-in & print my boarding pass for my flight back to LA. It was very quiet at night. Word of caution to travelers with heavy luggage or multiple bags - there are no elevators which was a problem to many guests with 2nd floor rooms (I heard random unpleasant comments from 3 or 4 other guests) . I had a 2nd floor room & it wasn't pleasant having to lug those bags up 2 narrow flights of stairs by myself. All in all, it served my purpose, which was a place for the mom of a college student to lay her weary head at night while I was there (which is the reason I chose this establishment to begin with - I read a review that said something similar). Online, the hotel is described as renovated. The lobby was clean & cheerful but once beyond that area, everything changed. The carpet was old, the walls dingy, & my room, altho adequate, was dark, dismal & unattractive. The owners need to lighten & brighten things up - new carpet & a fresh coat of paint would work wonders! I don't think I'll stay there again.

traveling on a budget Aug 1, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

We went to Savannah for a quick getaway for the fourth of July weekend, The hotel was located close to restaurants, a ... shopping mall, a Kmart, and Walmart was less than 15 minutes away. It only took us approx. 20 minutes to get to Tybee island! The outside of the hotel and the hallways were not very appealing but the hotel room had recently been remodeled so everything was new and clean. The staff was very friendly.

Undergoing rennovation

Road warrier Jul 20, 2009

We selected this hotel to save compared to the downtown hotels, this was the next closest option not booked. It turns out ... they are converting from "The Clubhouse" to a Ramada. Originally the rooms we wanted were not available but I think they opened a wing that was not yet completed to accomodate more guests. The hallways were musty and humid and you had to keep your room AC running all night to be comfortable. There was a big group staying at the hotel that was partying in the halls and front desk staff did little to keep the noise down. It was a place to crash that's about all.

Horrible Hotel

Pie Jul 19, 2009

The hotel was incredibly noisy, the staff failed to provide us with basic things, i.e soap etc. The staff also failed to ... inform us of a huge family reunion party one evening, we had to park in the lot of a restaurant next to the hotel as there was no parking. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!

I had a great time while in Savannah. The room wasn't too expensive, and I appreciated that. The hotel also had a cocktail ... hour in which the manager came out and served drinks that came complimentary of staying. It was neat to see the guests hanging out together. The place wasn't terrible, but the room was damp. You could feel it in the sheets at night, so it wasn't the most comfortable. Also, when I returned, my clothes were damp as well. The hotel needs a few more touch ups and care, but if the service keeps striving to do well, I'm sure it'll pull together.

Great location to drive down to river walk quickly without paying the high prices of being in the middle of downtown. You also have the Ogelthorpe Mall really close as well as any other places for food or to pick up forgotten items you meant to bring.

Won't Stay Again

Two things should be considered before booking a stay at this Ramada in Savannah: (1) don't think that the "Midtown" ... description means you'll be near the historic distict (20-minute drive); and (2) if it's OK to find rust and mold in your bathroom at home, you'll love the place.

Great Stay

PAMELA's Two Boys Jul 6, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

I did not have trouble locating the hotel. We arrived after 11pm and was able to get a room with 2 full beds. This was great ... since when the reservations were made a queen an rollout was promised. The only problem I had was my pass key was deactivated due to the hotel system having me down for checking out on Saturday instead of Sunday. The staff quickly corrected the error and gave me a new key. Way to go with great customer service.

The location is great for the value. It takes a few min to get to the river but its not a bad drive. lots of dinning and the mall is right down the road.

The Chinese buffet on Abercorn in the mall area was really good. They had all you can eat snow crab and such. I can't remember the name though.

If you like buffet's. The nearby Golden Coral was great! Normally, they have no seasoned food but NOT that one. Great for the family on a budget.

Find out what trolley service comes to your hotel. the trolleys have unlimited use during the day for around $10 and that often includes a tour to give you a good idea of what you will want to see in historic Savanna. Avoid oglethorp tours they don't have many busses so you could be waiting for a pickup 25-45 min each time. The other tours came to the stops about every 10 min.

within 15 minutes from river street and you know what's there! Be sure to bring a laptop if you are a tourist, there's plenty to do just takes some looking around to find it all.
