Our room had a great view of Town Lake. The a/c was broke in our room. We called and the staff and they took care of it ... right away. The beds have the adjustable hardness feature. It's ok to start, but it deflates during the night, so you end up at default. Do NOT do the breakfast buffet at TGIF...9.99 is a ripoff!

Nice hotel, although there was a bit of confusion at check-in. We were given a room number, but the key didn't work. The ... guy from the hotel went back up to the room with me and let me in, only to see the occupant emerging from the shower. It turned out I was supposed to be in the room next door. Room was nicely appointed, with a great view of Downtown Austin and the State Capitol.

Radisson Hotel & Suite Austin
Out of Town Online Minister Nov 9, 2009
The toilet was flooded when I arrived. I noticed there was already paper in the toilet and decided to flush it. When I ... flushed the water came out and I called Room Service to come up and clean the water. It took them a while to arrive. All the clocks in my room were set to the wrong time and threw me off, since I had to meet with friends for lunch. And the phone in my room was broken. It was not a pleasant welcome to come into a room with so many problems. So, I went downstairs to the check-in counter and asked to comp the overnight parking for the whole time I was staying at the hotel, they said they would comp it, but I just checked my bank account and saw that there were four $15 charges for the overnight parking fees that Radisson promised to comp for me. Overall the hotel was a great location. The concierge was very accommodating. I was told this was the best hotel to stay at, but it did not feel that way to me. The people were accommodating, but not the room. I will not be coming back to Radisson.

Convenient location
Jae Oct 26, 2009
The service was good, especially the concierge, and the location was excellent, being centered in downtown Austin. We were ... upgraded to a king suite, which was great. The decor was dated, and the wallpaper was starting to bubble at the seams. Not a big deal, just not what I expected for a $200/night hotel. Probably because it was a top-floor room, the ceilings were very high and my voice echoed a lot so I felt like I always needed to whisper. Also, there was a hair on the bathroom vanity.

I had a late check-in (11pm) and an early check-out (6am) and both took less than a minute. Room was clean, well sized and ... appointed, and had a lovely view. Didn't get to use the pool or any dining at the hotel (seems like the TGI Fridays attached to the hotel also provides the Room Service food), but both looked like they'd be fine.

The Congress Avenue Bridge is right next to the hotel; it's the one that houses the famous Austin bat colony! Get a lake view room and you might catch them from your room at sunset; or just stroll around the block.

Perfect ACL experience
Just a Bill Oct 9, 2009
My girlfriend and I stayed here for the '09 ACL Festival, and couldn't have been happier. A mistake upon checking in put us ... in a city side room when I'd purchased a lake side room. I called the front desk and explained the situation and they said they'd look into it, and give me a call back. A couple of minutes later the floor manager called me back, and after chatting about some details (name, check in/out dates, where the reservations were made) he discovered that I was in the wrong room- there was another person with my exact name checking in to the hotel, and I was in their room. He apologized and said he'd be right up with a room key for our new room. He arrived with our key, and also had one of the housekeeping staff go into the room we were leaving (we'd just sat on the bed, but I appreciated the detail of making sure the room was just right for the next person). He walked us to our new room and we traded keys off. I'd just assumed that he was this courteous because we wound up in the wrong room, and was making it right, and that would pretty much be the end of it. I'd assumed wrong. Every single member of the hotel staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. I've lived in a tourist town, and I know that during tourist season it's easy to get frustrated at all the out-of-towners asking all number of random questions. There was absolutely no attitude like that at all. Even when the rain came, and turned the park into a giant mud pit, instead of complaining about the muddy guests and their muddy clothes, they set up a hose out front so guests could rinse off. I know they did this as much for them as us, but it was a welcome detail. We'll be back to Austin, and we'll stay here again.

good location but poor bed linen
AA family Aug 31, 2009
Fantastic location within walking distance to all great sights, restaurants, museums. We asked to move from the first room, ... which had a lovely views, because of water leaking from the bathroom ceiling and the bed linens looked used/creased. Then we moved to another room but right opposite to the noisy main road with the same feel of creased/used bed linens. However, staff were friendly and Starbucks is located inside hotel.

The principal entertainment district in Austin (6th Street) and is about a quarter-mile walk.
