This was the 2nd time my wife and I have stayed at the "Q" and both times have been great. Hotel staff is friendly, curtious, ... and always looking for ways to enhance your visit. Although we have not used the gym, I did see that the hotel had available morning yoga classes for those interested. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and the decorating in the rooms are just as fun as the lobby (I love the big round pillow on the bed). The top to bottom remodel they completed a few years ago was well done. There is HD Flat screens in room and free wyfy for those wanting to stay in and get cozy in their rooms. There is breakfast for guests at the hotel and is usually included with the price of your room. When I booked through [...] this was not available. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there is a bar. There are so many places to eat and drink around the area though it really isn't that big of a deal. The "Q" is great little gem in the world of corporate hotels and my wife and I will be staying there again and would recomend it to anyone.

The "Q" is located in the Westport area of Kansas City MO, which has many shops and restaraunts and the Country Club Plaza (a little higher end shopping and dining) is just a mile or so to the south. Last time we stayed, the hotel offered a shuttle service to and from the Power and Light district, where the Sprint Center Arena is located. Art museums are close as well as concert venues. This hotel is in a great location for a couples weekend get away or just a quick stay over night after a late concert, as was our case.

Great lobby, great service, best location just one issue. This is a semi-renovated 2 star hotel. The room (double I stayed ... in) are just old budget rooms with an lcd and new, prettier sheets. Good place if you are planning to spend very little time in the room and you get a good price on the room, standard rooms are not worth more than holiday inn prices.

Front desk didn't know where a close restaurant was at 7am, while the complimentary breakfast was going on, they didn't ... mention that food was available. The complete lack of room service leaves much to be desired. But, if you are going to cut room service, at least get your desk people a reference for places to eat in the area. The rooms seem claustrophobic.

Lousy Security/Crowd Control
Randall Sep 28, 2009
We were on the 1st floor of the hotel, about 4 doors from the elevators. On Saturday nite there was a wedding party of 30+ ... people that we raising all kinds of hell in the common areas between the elevator and the front desk. I complained twice to the front desk and the noise didn't subside for over an hour. Apparently the police were called to finally get the noise to stop. It was ridiculous. Plus, based on what the kitchen staff told us the next morning, the group vandalized the dining area by taking a large spoon from the wall. A very unacceptable experience; we will not stay at this hotel again.

TOO MUCH NOISE
sleepy Sep 27, 2009
This was our first stay at the Q, we thought we would try a different hotel off the Plaza and save a few dollars. Our ... daughter lives in KC so we visit her often. The front desk staff was friendly, the room was okay, bathroom small and awkwardly set up, older fixtures but okay, our room was on the first floor. Our third night the noise in the lobby and hallways was unbelievable. My husband went out to front desk twice and the police were there but the noise continued for several hours. There was also a great deal of vomit in the parking lot the next morning-ugh! I spoke to the Manager when we checked out and asked for a refund, he said,"We don't give refunds but I can give you a discount on your next stay!" He apologized for the noise and said it was a wedding party. Needless to say, we won't be staying at the Q again, guess we will go back to The Hampton Inn for a few dollars more.

Good experience overall. The shower nozel was broken and when we called the front desk the morning we checked out, the desk ... clerk suggested we try putting it back on. Completely ridiculous recommendation because we, of course, had tried it. Luckily we had a tool that allowed us to turn the water on and bathe. She didn't have any apology or recommendations because the hotel was full.

Green Hotel in Westport Area
RheaYes Jul 17, 2009
My husband and I stayed two nights at this hotel. They had free shuttle service - we used it to go to the Uptown Theater, the ... Power and Light District downtown, and called them to get a ride back from the Country Club Plaza area. Prompt service. The hotel offered free parking, and even had bicycles to lend out. Another plus was the free food. Breakfast was not just the standard continental breakfast, but also offered free made-to-order omelettes. There was also a happy hour every afternoon, and we got two free drinks each night. The rooms were clean, bed was comfortable, water pressure was good. The only downside for me was housekeeping. They didn't come to service our room. I saw one of the housekeepers in the hallway and asked for an extra towel. She said she would drop it off, but it didn't arrive until I called the front desk and asked again. The location was convenient. It was right in the Westport neighborhood and a 15 minute walk to the Country Club Plaza shopping. I chose the hotel because of its proximity to the Uptown Theater, but I would stay again the next time I visit KCMO.

Excellent location, close to nightlife. However, the rooms are very small and the amenities were not close to what the ... hotel's website had described. We had a first floor room that was very noisy and backed up to a neighboring parking lot. The free breakfast was average at best. Nice Hotel, Gross Rooms
Lily May 8, 2009
The location of the hotel was awesome. We could walk to the bars in Westport to meet up with friends. The staff was very ... friendly, and the common spaces were fairly clean and attractive. When we got to the room I was disappointed for a number of reasons. First of all the only thing "green" about this hotel is the ugly, stained carpet in the guest rooms. The rooms were painted an institutional white color, the furniture looked secondhand, and the beds were very uncomfortable. The bathroom was extremely small and looks like it had never been updated. We had mold growing on the faucet of our sink, and they gave us 2 towels to share for our stay. All in all I was very uncomfortable and ready to leave. Though the common spaces were nice, we got a hotel room to have a comfortable place to sleep and relax close to where all our events were and we did not get that. The worst part for me was that we could have stayed somewhere a lot nicer, for less money. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Went for a weekend getaway with a group of girlfriends. Hotel was in a great location for shopping, restaurants, piano bar, ... etc. Loved the free shuttle to other shopping areas. And loved the happy hour in the lobby. Very friendly atmosphere. Only downside was not being told about tip charged to the room for our massages. Also not told when our massage price/type was changed. No phone call returned from staff as promised regarding that. Had that not happened, we were already making plans to return.
