Great Resort for the price!
Greko91 Nov 16, 2009
We went in November and had unbelievable weather! The service was also great. The rooms were good, but nothing special. I ... did like the plasma TV and mini-bar restocked daily. The biggest negative about the rooms was that the sink and bath water is non-potable (not safe to drink). We had to use bottled water for brushing our teeth, which was really annoying. Not sure if this is typical for the DR or not. They do give you giant bottles of water in the mini-bar. The room service menu is way too small for the included items and the service was way too slow. We only ordered it one night. They have plenty of bottled water at all of the bars and the water at the restaurants is safe to drink.I would say that the food was 3.5 to 4 out of 5. The food presentation at the buffet restaurant was really cool many nights. I recommend the fillet at the steak house and the lobster at Mare Norestrom. The fondue restaurant was ok and we didn't try the Italian restaurant. The menu at the Italian restaurant didn't look like anything special. You get offered wine at all of the ala carte restaurants and it is really good! The beach was phenomenal! The sand was perfect with no rocks and the water was great. The pool was a favorite hangout and at 3:30pm everyday there was a pool volleyball game. [...] at the pool bar took care of us all week long. The service was overall extremely good. Some of the people there (even at the front desk) did not speak very good English. Only one person was rude to us. She was a younger girl at the guest services desk. Animation team did a great job during the day getting people involved in activities and their shows at night were pretty funny! Other than the animation team show, there is no nightlife at this resort. They do offer free shuttle service to the casino and night club. The casino is nice, but we didn't go to the night club because it didn't open until midnight! One nice thing about this place is that its small. If you forget something in your room, you can get it and be back to the pool or beach in 5 minutes!Overall, a great adults-only all-inclusive value resort to relax and enjoy. I would think that this would probably be a 3.5 - 4 star resort. My guess is that a 5 star resort in the DR will have better rooms, room service, night-life, crazy-good food, and drinkable bathroom water. But seriously, these things were definitely good enough, especially considering that it was super-cheap to stay here! This is a very nice resort!

This place was well worth the money. A little older and needs some work on the rooms but they were spotless ... no bugs. The ... grounds were kept SPOTLESS and the beach was one of the best I have been to. I went as a solo traveler, would not recommend this resort if you are looking for a night life. Rest and relaxation is what this place was for me. Great place for couples. The buffet was ok, I didnt go hungry! The Tex Mex restaurant was the best, The Italian restaurant was good. Did I say the beach was AWESOME??? The beer (Presidente) was good and the liqour was ok, If you ask to make it strong, they will. Also, if you tip the bartenders a buck or two, the will appreciate it. I would say that atleast 95% of the staff were extremely polite. Only two drawbacks I encountered ... the first, AVOID the cigar shop, the man who runs it will try to rip you off! Secondly, Most of the staff speak little english, just enough to service you. Most of the guests while I was there spoke spanish or french. Like I said, the place is absolutely beautiful and I would go back, but probably not as a single traveler.

Punta Cana Princess

I had a wonderful time at the Punta Cana Princess in Sept/Oct of 2009. Staff was top notch, food was good, rooms were clean ... and the beach and grounds were amazingly beautiful! I will return to this resort next year for sure. It was much more relaxing than previous vacations because I traveled during off season times. It was nice to not have to play the towel game at the pool or beach.I took a tour with PC [...] that was awesome. Other than that I just stayed and enjoyed the resort.

The good, the bad, and the really ugly
TnM-But Sep 7, 2009
The staff was nice and the people at the bar took care of you, but there were too many bad things to mention. Our biggest ... problem was that the Punta Cana Princess claims to be all inclusive, but it is NOT. All alcohol was not included, even though it states "all premium alcohol included except for aged wines and liquors". They claim to included 24 hour room service and 5 restaurants. The room service is extra and only 1 restaurant is open each night. Overall, we felt like we were duped into going to an "all-inclusive resort" when in fact many things were not included.

A Princess Hotel
Betelu Sep 6, 2009
My husband & I just came in from a wonderful 9 days at the PC Princess. This was our 3rd time to PC where we stayed the ... first time at Secrets and the second time at the Colonial Majestic. This now being our favorite of the 3. Being Low Season the resort was very quiet. Maybe to quiet for some, but it was just what we were looking for. There is not a lot to do in the evenings but we ended up spending 3 evenings at the Casino where they offer plenty of slots and most table games. I can not comment on the nightly entertainment because we didn't really take it in. I really think there being so few people there that they only had one restaurant open each night plus the buffet. We even missed the Italian Restaurant because we went that night to the Spanish night at the buffet. But I don't think my husband & I had one bad meal the whole time. We are not big drinkers but everyone seemed to love the tropical drinks. I prefer wine and it was only ok. There is only one Italian white and red throughout the whole resort, so if you are a wine drinker you might want to pick some up when you get there and keep a bottle in your room. The beach was fantastic. That was the main purpose for our trip and it was exactly what we were looking for. Crystal clear water and miles of white sand to walk on. There are two markets along the beach in both directions. Coming out of the resort to the left is the closer one. If you are in to a LONG walk the one to the right is a hike, but you can check out the other two Princess Hotels along the way. We found the PCP superior to both the other hotels or maybe it was all the kids that turned us off. We didn't visit the Disco but everyone we talked to that did said they had a great time. They are open until 3 am...maybe later. My husband loved the sauna (dry) the steam IS NOT included like mentioned, it is an additional $5 a day and in the Spa outside the front of the hotel. The Mini-spa Sauna next to the pool and beach is very nice. It has a window that looks out over the beach. I think my husband was the only person the entire 9 days to use it. The jacuzzi if you are a jacuzzi person, is not hot and there are no jets. So we could not understand why they called it a jacuzzi..but the pool & beach are enough to make anyone happy. We were in bldg 5 which I think is the best bldg since we had a great view of the pool and the closest bldg to the beach. Our room was very big with a sitting room to watch Tv. The room was spotless and kept that way the entire time. The grounds are just what I had read, breath taking. Picture perfect. And the employees at this hotel are all very nice and very hard working. We have gone to many All-Inclusives and always take $1s to leave for B, L & D. We noticed that very few people tipped. YES, it is an all-inclusive but remember these people are not paid big salaries and a buck now in then really means a lot to them. They also have a trio who comes to the restaurants at night and sing to each table. Rarely did anyone ever give these men a tip. When they are finished they wait for a min to see if you are going to give them anything...so take a couple of $'s with you in the evenings so you can tip these guys who are really trying to show you a good time. Enjoy, it is a beautiful resort.

Most beautiful beach and pool
AC Aug 18, 2009
Beautiful resort with an amazing large pool (each end of the pool you walk into as if you're on the beach, no steps, it just ... gradually gets deeper). Beautiful grounds with palm trees everywhere. This was one of the whitest softest beach with clear slightly wavy water. Food was very good at the a la carte restaraunts and the buffets were okay. Not a destination for food, more for the beach and resort. Room was very clean, and was cleaned and mopped daily with flowers left in various places in the room. Bathrooms could use an update...clean but just seem a little older.Staff very friendly, knowing Spanish would be helpful on this trip, but the front desk workers speak English well. You are not harrassed to buy things or to go on excursions. This resort was very laid back and the beach is quiet. We walked the beach and other resorts had loud music playing. The Princess resort is definitely adults only and geared for romance. Eat at the hotel restaraunt for dinner called the Mare Nostrum...open air and very romantic with candles and a beautiful breeze. Very yummy grilled lobster. All inclusive means just that, everything was included, no bill or hidden fees when we left. I would go back to this resort. Hope this was helpful!Ps- for transfer from the airport to resort I would recommend [...]

We selected the adults-only Princess resort based on the recommendation of family, and we were not disappointed. From the ... time we arrived, until the door was closed on the cab for our trip back to the airport, we were treated regally. This was a trip to relax, and we did so daily on one of the best beaches in the area. There were many activities offered, but we never felt pressured to join them if we chose to simply sit and enjoy the sea. The room was large, clean, well air-conditioned, and comfortable. The almost invisible housekeeping staff did an excellent job, and provided extras when asked. The food and drink was plentiful in a nice variety of restaurants and bars. Service was prompt and courteous, and the staff worked hard to meet and special requests. Small tips were appreciated and ensured that we were remembered, but the staff appeared to provide excellent service to everyone regardless of tipping practices. The Punta Cana Princess provided one of the best values, as well as one of the most relaxing vacations we have taken in years.
