We absolutely love this hotel! Have stayed many times in the past and it is truly lovely. Very well kept and clean. Always ... something to do during the day such as cooking class, wine tasteing, water aerobics, water volleyball, etc. The pools are just terrific - very clean. We would recommend this hotel to anyone. Close to many other restaurants and shopping if desired. Hotel staff are always friendly and eager to help.

Great Family Hotel!!
SuperChivas Aug 6, 2009
The hotel is very family oriented. A GREAT hotel, all rooms have a small living room and balcony, which makes the room ... pretty large for it's type. There is a quiet pool and an activities pool. The quiet pool is great for kids. Staff goes out of their way to make your stay pleasant...maybe even up to the point of being annoying! The only things I didn't like was the watered down drinks (I guess it's too family oriented they don't want you to go too heavy on the booze) and the slow internet access (maybe they don't want you to spoil your vacations logging in to check work e-mail too often). Other than that I would stay there in every trip to Mazatlan!

Hotel, location, friely staff, was a plus The only turn down was when we check in we spect our room as the package reservation ... but, they don,t have the room at the time, they promes to up grade our room next day and they did but the principle is you allrady have and expectation for the money you paid, the thing is if you have a reservation over a month, and you stand in the front desk staff said sorry and your wife to the other side ready to fight anyway, good time after all good food all the weitress really frienly thanks for the servises.

Beth Mar 9, 2009
We loved this resort! Everything was just as described. Dining was great and the staff was super. The 2 pools are both great. ... Mazatlan is a very friendly city and easy to get around in. The only thing that we did not appreciate was the "time-share" push at the hotel by the staff. We were ambushed when we checked in and were told that our room wasn't ready and then again when we were eating dinner on the property later in the week. They also left messages on our room phone. They just couldn't take NO for an answer. Otherwise we loved the hotel and would consider going back!

Perfect Beach Location
Marianne Dec 27, 2008
We have stayed at this resort many times and are never disappointed. The rooms are comfortable and everything is spotless. ... There are two pools..one with activities and one for quieter lounging. The sandy and swimable beach is a few steps down from the pools. All rooms have a small kitchen and the hotel has a well-stocked deli. There is also a small supermarket across the street. The 3 hotel restaurants are all good and there are many other restaurants nearby. The bus to the central area stops right in front of the hotel. Best of all the entire staff will do everything they can to make your stay perfect.

Comfortable and Clean
Barb Dec 21, 2008
The Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan was comfortable and very clean. The bathroom felt a little cramped but the water pressure was ... great, plenty of hot water and the tub drained quickly. Problems we have encountered at much newer, fancier resorts in Mexico. They only have queen size beds and two of them in the bedroom pretty much filled the room but they were comfortable and there was adequate dresser and closet room to get our stuff out of the way. We really appreciated the safe in the closet as well to stash the passports until we needed them for the trip home. Location was good. It was convenient for bus service to Golden Zone for restaurants and shopping or to downtown to check out the market.

great pool but too many problems
Lorena Jul 15, 2008
The Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan has been very nice to stay at in the past but this time it was a mess. Our bathroom was too ... small and the toilet overflowed twice. There was a leak in the roof coming from the bathroom upstairs so every morning there was a puddle of water around the toilet and in the bathtub. The remote control to the tv was broken, the toaster and phone did not work and at night an odor coming through the air conditioning vents smelled like someone was cooking in our room-literally. Because our room had too many problems we were asked to move to a different room, which took up half of our day because we had to wait for a room to become available. All in all it was terrible.

Best hotel near or by the Golden Zone (La Zona Dorada)
Luis Jul 9, 2008
I have family in Mazatlan and been going there since I was a kid. I've been staying at the Pueblo Bonito hotel for a few ... years now. I actually just came back from there last week. All the rooms are suites and the staff is very nice. Haven't had any problems to this date...knock on wood. All the rooms have a beach view with a balcony which is great. Overall I like Pueblo Bonito compared to other hotels that are near or in The Golden Zone (La Zona Dorada). My only dislikes for this hotel are petty. For example, no complimentary bottled water...you have to pay for it. No free wireless internet...they have a place where you can use the internet, but you pay for the time. It's a little away from The Golden Zone, but not too far. Here's a hint for all you travelers. Never take the orginal offer when you get a taxi, Pulmonia (VW with canopy), Bronchitis (red pickup with canopy), etc...you can always talk them into deducting 10-30 pesos from their original offer for the ride. Sometimes it's better and way cheaper to take the green buses. They're air conditioned too. Those buses take you to the Golden Zone and even take you to Downtown Mazatlan. I've heard that Angelos, their Italian restaurant at the hotel is very good and has a nice romantic feel if you want to take someone special. This past trip I found out that you can rent jet skis, ride the banana boat, and do parasailing right in front of the hotel, which I had fun doing. Anyway, I recommend this hotel to anyone. It's not too pricey for what you get and plus you get a suite right on the beach.

We prefer other Mazatlan Hotels
Miguel Jul 6, 2008
We've stayed in Mazatlan 5-6 times in the last 12 years, and another 15-20 Mexico stays (Cancun, PV, Acapulco, etc.) during ... that period. We have stayed at hotels that are more beautiful than this one, and hotels that are less beautiful than this one, but until this hotel we had never seen a roach on the property. On the 3rd day of our 8-day anniversary stay, a very, very large roach almost crawled across my foot at the crowded pool area. Although my husband killed it, he had to request pool personnel to clean it up. They scooped up the body, but left the rest behind. Ewwww! I asked hotel staff to move us to the other Pueblo Bonito in Mazatlan because I could not enjoy the pool, nor eat at the hotel restaurants/bars after the experience. They refused, saying that booking online excludes that kind of customer service. Another problem that was obvious from day we arrived was that the (limited) fitness center was closed from 11am - 1pm. Unless one wanted to get up early and rush to workout, it was unavailable until mid-afternoon. Mazatlan is beautiful and the weather is generally great, but choose a different hotel. (In 2004 we stayed at the other Pueblo Bonito at Emerald Bay, which is absolutely lovely, but FYI food and drinks are pricey.) If you're in the Zona Dorada check out Chili's Pepper for food and a view. It's hidden so you'll need to ask around. Also, La Casa Country is a great steakhouse, which we enjoyed thoroughly.

So pleansantly surprised! We enjoyed a great room with a wonderful view of the ocean and second (smaller) pool. Top floor. ... Housekeeping was very nice. they worked with us when unexpectantly both of us came down with a bout of montezuma revenge. Housekeeping providing extra towels, sheets, and came only to clean when asked to do so. The sickness was not a part of the Pueblo Bonito hotel.

Loved Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan
Barbara Jun 21, 2008
My friend and I stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan 6/16-6/20/08. It looked to us like the tourist zone of Mazatlan and our ... hotel were probably in their heyday in the 70s-80s; however the hotel was very well maintained and clean and the staff were courteous and professional. All of the staff we encountered also had at least a basic command of English, and the majority spoke very good English. so communication was no problem. We went to the timeshare presentation at Emerald Bay, and though the property is bigger and newer, we preferred the Mazatlan because it was more intimate and within walking distance of the tourist zone (actually at one end of it) We would definitely stay at Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan again. The view out of our room was a like a postcard. We looked out over one of the pools to the ocean. There are two big pools, a third ?private? pool above the swim up bar, and a hot tub. All the pools were clean every day, and though the lounge chairs filled up there were usually some empty ones to be had throughout the day. My one complaint with the pool is not unique to Pueblo Bonito: I am tired of people putting kids with diapers in the pool. It is unsanitary and I wish that management would take a more active role in enforcing their rules regarding this issue and keeping kids in the kids pool (or at least away from the swim up bar). During our stay, the beach was not really a swimming beach, because there were problems with jellyfish. They were especially bad one day, and you could see them in the sand all along the beach. We talked to a couple people who got stung (very painful). We did brave going into the water a couple times, but I was too afraid of getting stung to really enjoy it. The beach is great for walking though. There are a few palapas on the beach, but they are usually occupied quickly. There are the usual vendors walking the beach, but they were not too pushy, so it was OK looking at what they had to offer and buying if you wanted to. There were activities offered every day except Monday: In the morning and afternoons, crafts, games (bingo, black jack) or Spanish and in the afternoon games around the pool. The games were fun, but the volleyball net always seemed to be taken down too quickly, especially since people always wanted to play longer. Activities for the day are posted on a board near the towel booth, and are also on a paper in your room. One of our favorite activities was the ceramic painting which could be done all day long. We ended up making several souvenirs for family members there (instead of buying the usual t-shirt). Though we had planned to, we did not actually use the gym, but it appeared to have all the basics as far as equipment. They also offered spa services there. We only ate at one of the restaurants on the property, Las Palomas. We really enjoyed their breakfast buffet (3 times). I also heard several people say that they really enjoyed the food at Cilantros. I did not talk to anyone who had eaten at Angelos, but one of the timeshare vendors in town said that it was one of the two best places for Italian food in town. We also signed up for the on-site beach party on Weds. night. Don?t do this unless you want to pay $22.50 to eat hamburgers and hot dogs and watch kids play games. We thought it would be more of a party with dancing and adult activities along with a couple kids? games. The fireworks were great though.

Good Experience
Eugene Mar 17, 2008
These are the features that I liked. The location was good because of the convenience to the busses. Their were several ... convenient facilities near-by. These include laundry, restaurants churches. The beds were comfortable. Hot water was always available for showers. The in room cooking facilities were good. The arrangements for reserving a cabane (palapa) were good. Some prices seemed high. They include the internet. We went outside and paid 1/2 of the hotel price. Phone card connection charges were excessive. Angeles restaurant had great atmosphere.

Our favorite restaurant was La Bruja. It could be reached by bus but the busses stopped running early so the return trip required a cab The meal that I enjoyed was 2 lobster tail with 5 large shrimp of your choice for 180 pesos (about #18.00 dollars). They had Happy Hour Drinks were good and large
