Great Experience
pipper Sep 28, 2009
Great location next to the convention center and within walking distance of good food and shopping. This hotel has done some ... very nice things to make an older hotel very comfortable and a great experience. The on-site restaurant was great. The only down side was the inability to control the temperature in the room very well - the fan speeds seemed to be all the same and a little loud. Hot tub area could be a bit more comfortable. Overall a very good experience. Great amenities - iron, board, hair dryer, microwave, refrigerator - all great offerings.

Good value, great location, okay service
Globetrotter Aug 7, 2009
Couldn't beat the value and location; however, you get what you pay for. Generally friendly staff and fair service. Our room ... was next to the elevator and a tad noisy, shower made a ruckus but was always hot and had good pressure. After the first night, we did not receive service the next day, but then after the second night we did. The day we checked out, the elevators were down and we had to call the front desk for someone to come with the service elevator (suprisingly quick). Overall satisfied...we are easy travelers and as mentioned before the price and location were unbeatable. Definitely would recommend. Also, you can hop on SLC's TRAX tram right outside the hotel and ride about 4-5 stops in the fare-free downtown zone.

Temple Square Salt Lake City
NorEaster Jun 9, 2009
Walking distance to Temple Square where you can hear the Mormon Tabernacle choir for free on Sunday as well as visit their ... site. Also within walking to the Salt Lake City library, one of the nicest anywhere. Plaza hotel was clean, staff courteous and efficient. Two computers in the lobby made online reservations and email easy to do. Did not use a lot of the hotel's amenities, like jacuzzi or weight room, because we were out of the building most of the time during a five day stay. Would definitely like to stay here again circumstances permitting.

Good and Bad
travel May 24, 2009
I stayed there for two night. It was definitely unpleasant. At the first night, I was woke up by the itch on my shoulders and ... my hand. I turn on the light, and there was a few tiny bugs running on the pillow. I called the front desk, all they did was to send a security guy to my room and handed me a key for another room. The security guy didn't even know what was going on. As the matter of fact, he even told me that he was not working there. So I had to move to another room two o,clock in the morning without any assistant from the hotel. The next morning, when I talk to the front desk again, they didn't even know what happened in my room for that night. The guy I talked to in the morning said the manager will refund my money for that night. I told him that I was there not for the money, but for an apology. If not the manager, at least whoever I talked to should apologize to me in the first place. But NONE of them did that. The bugs had five bites on my shoulders and one bite on my hand. They are still itchy like hell now. If they think one night refund will make me happy, they are totally wrong. They could make me happier by the manager's personal apology, but they didn't. The manager has never shown up in front of me.

Downtown Salt Lake City
Anton Jan 2, 2009
I really enjoyed the location of this hotel. The staff were very helpful and the room had a couple of appliances that are ... very nice to have away from home (refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker). The only thing that was bothersome to me was that even though we got a non-smoking room it still smelled very much like smoke. After we aired it out we managed to identify the source of the smell: the next room with the conjoined door had a smoker in it. Perhaps the hotel can do a better job of sealing off individual rooms, or not conjoining smoking and non-smoking rooms.

Very Comfortable
Diane Dec 30, 2008
The room was very comfortable and clean at the Plaza Hotel at Temple Square. The hot tub was a little small but sufficient ... for our needs. I used the guest library near the lobby quite a bit to do paper work where I could really spread out on a larger table. The front desk was very helpful and pleasant to work with. I enjoyed being close by many local attractions. One hard thing, however, was that we could not turn left out of the parking area with our rental car but was able to walk on foot to many places. I recommend walking when you can because it was difficult to find parking.

Convenient location close to Temple Square, light rail train, and shopping.
Ian Dec 24, 2008
The room was small but adequate. It was clean. I was on the top floor. It was very quiet with nice views. With all the ... renovation in Salt Lake, it's hard to find a restaurant, but the JB's downstairs was okay, I guess. Right across the street from Temple Square--you can see it, sort of, from many of the rooms. There is lots of free entertainment on Temple Square (classical and religious music, mostly).

Across the street is Abravanel Hall where you can hear the world-class Utah Symphony. The hall has a Dale Chihuly glass sculpture. A fair amount of architecture, art, and history in a small space for a Western town.

Good value
Samuel Dec 21, 2008
The Plaza Hotel at Temple Square was comfortable and provided sufficient space. Although I personally own an aircard, the ... availability of free wireless internet connection was extremely desirable. I can understand that the hotel has been around long enough and it does show its age. However, it is more than adequate for what I have to pay. The only negative comment I had was the fitness center. It is way too small; it has only one treadmill and nothing else. I don't know if it was because of the time of my travel (mid-December), the treadmill was available when I needed to use it. In general, more exercise equipment is needed. The tram station right in front of the hotel is an obvious plus. The staff was helpful and friendly. I was happy with my stay at the Plazs Hotel.
