One cannot dispute the number of activities available at this resort and in the surrounding areas. However, the things to do ... specifically at the resort without having to venture away from the resort, are limited. Understandably this resort of part of the RCI Time Share Network, however, the number and presence of the realtors was absolutely overwhelming. Too few restaurants and bars, and the one bar and once restaurant available for a nicer dinner is very expensive. Don't be fooled by the weakness of the Peso, this resort more than makes up the difference.

We stayed here because our Nephew had his wedding on the beach. When we booked the Deluxe Jr. we were given a $100 ... credit. Upon check-in we were informed that the credit only applied to Long Distance Calls, Mini Golf (a $15 per day per person charge), and Beverages within the Resort Restaurants & Bars. The beverage charges were removed at checkout after reviewing each charged receipt and your siging a form for each receipt. This resulted in at least a 25-30 minute checkout. There is a 10% Service Fee stated as "Hotel service charge in lieu of tips for lodging services during your stay." You need to tip the bell boy, waiters, and room maids, so I do not know who gets this 10% Service Fee other than the Resort itself. There is no literature in the room telling you anything about where churches are located nor any recommended out of the resort restaurants. There is a charge to use the Gym. After check-in they direct you to a time share person to schedule a sales information session

One of the finest resorts in Cabo!
Cabo Jim Oct 15, 2009
Very nice hotel, heard from everyone it's one of the best in Cabo. Great location just far enough away from bars and ... nightlife of downtown to be very quiet and relaxing. Walk to downtown is about 15 minutes down hill. Beautiful uncrowded beach on the Pacific (rip tides so no swimming in ocean). If you are there to party on Medano beach everyday, it's probably not the place for you... LONG walk all the way around marina. Great food and drinks... but not cheap. Excellent friendly staff. Resort is very Americanized and has EVERY convenience that goes with that. Unfortunately, also attracts a FEW rude, spoiled people from here (U.S.) that make no effort to act like guests in someone else's country (you know the ones... embarrassing!) but that's probably the case at most high dollar resorts down there. Overall, people there were great and hotel could not have been any better.

Only complaints are 4 P.M. check-in (got there at 2 so room wasn't ready) and pressure from timeshare folks. Other than ... that, everything was top shelf with a staff very eager to please. Grounds are beautifully kept up. There's fun to be had but not as rowdy as some other places.

I booked the hotel and received a $100 credit. However when I checked in no one even said a word about it. I had to ask. They ... then said, it would be applied to my bill when I check out and all my charges were applicable. HOWEVER, when I checked out. Nothing was eligiable for my $100 credit. I had to fight to get my food and drinks covered. It was a joke.

Great place to stay
acoba0411 Mar 23, 2009
The hotel is beautiful and a good place to stay. The check in was friendly and professional. We were upgraded to their ... timeshare area which gave us a separate bedroom and 2 full baths, access to another pool area and an additional restaurant/bar. You are invited to look at their timeshares but they are not pushy. The rooms were impeccably clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is great as it is right by the marina and downtown so you can walk to many shops and restaurants.

Dinner at La Fonda was wonderful. This is a fine dining restaurant serving authentic Mexican food. The place is beautiful, has a great staff and delicious food. We went there two days in a row. My review of Playa Grande Resort
Eric Sep 16, 2007
The La Playa grand hotel and grounds were beatiful. The spa, fitness center, and mini-golf were all 1st class. The ... 1-bedroom / 2 bath was large enough for 5 adults to stay comfortably. Everything looked new and the tilework was amazing. Most rooms have a great view from the balcony(ies) The kitchen definately saved some money by being able to cook meals from the room but no oven and no laundry facilities in the room. The resort had a few medicre restaurants that seemed overpriced. The pool was spectacular complete with swim-up bar and waterfalls and the pool-side service was attentive. Great Happy Hour specials too! The beach was on the Pacific Ocean side of the pennisula and was large and empty. It felt like a huge private beach all to yourself. The only catch was the ocean currents are so strong that you cant swim or surf right out in front of the resort. It wasnt much of a problem though with many nearby beaches good for swimming, snorkeling, and surfing. The hotel is about 40min drive from the airport...the best way to get back and forth solo is via a shuttle at $15/person incl. cerveza! A cab will run you about $55 but worth it if you have enough people. The resort is about a 5min cab ride (~$10US) or a 15min walk from the main shopping / restaurant area known as the Marina. lots of things to do in that area with decent food and nightlife. While out and about in Cabo always agree on a price before you do anything (esp food and taxis) and check your bill for overcharges. They seemed all too frequent on our visit. Overall we had a great time. The resort is nice...a bit pricey...but worth the extra money. Recreational activities can be booked through the resort...incl marlin fishing and snorkeling (both highly recommended day trips). I would recommend this resort to anyone from families, to couples, to groups of friends looking for an upscale place to stay.

The Playa Grande is deluxe!!! The rooms are well appointed. We stayed in a studio which was equipped with all the items ... that we needed. The kitchenette was equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker and a full setting of silverware, flatware and knives. We were able to buy what we wanted for breakfasts and lunches and dine out in the evenings. If thats not for you, room service and the two restaurants on site provide breakfast lunch and dinner at all times. The bathroom was nice. Huge shower bath tub/ jacuzzi! There were four pools and one hot tub. Waiters were available at all times at any location. If possible request a 2nd floor room to stay away form some of the bottom floor noise etc.. Location: out of the way enough to be quite when you want it, but a mere six dollars or a ten minute walk into town. Many small stores or tienditas to pick up the odds and inns that you might have forgotten or run out of. Take the tour!! Although it will cost you a few hours, not the one half hour that they suggest, you will end up with a lot of free stuff..snorkel trip, massage, etc... The food: not bad good snacking. Better dining in town for sure!!. The wait staff: awesome friendly and accommodating!! NO SWIMMING at the beach directly outside the hotel. Yeah I know, it;s the Pacific!! Look, I've spent years in the Pacific ocean, and have battled my share of rip currents and shore break. This place was nasty. The beach is steep which created a five to ten foot shore break at any given time during the day!! No fun. If you are looking for a beach getaway, rent a car and go north for about 1 half hour. Plenty beaches, plenty surf. Other than that, you will have to experience it for yourself. Cheers!
