This was a very nice resort. Friendly and prompt staff. Entertainment, pools, views were great. The hills were a little ... ruff, but is a good way to get exercise. Had a great time and would come back.

Excellent greating and friendly staff. Room was clean and large. Food was pretty much $10 for a sandwich. Casino was fun. ... It was the off time of the year, so not a lot going on. You really need a car to see the island. Visit Phillipsburg, Orient Beach, and Marigot Market area. Nice french bakeries that are reasonable, but only Cafe Atlantico near Pelican. Bucanneer Beach bar is fun, and beers are $2 all the time. Shop at the Grand Marche Supermarket (across bridge toward airport) for food, snacks, and drinks. Also, drinks in casinos are free (tip), so take advantage. Beautiful beaches and water was perfect. This is a large and beautiful resort, one of the best we saw driving around the island.

Pelican Resort Club Review

I was very disappointed that our room did not have a sofa or loveseat. There was only 1 chair with an ottoman and it wasn't ... comfortable for 2 people to watch TV. The maid service was top notch.

When we arrived at check in we were told that we could have a studio for (2) two days, than we would have to move to another ... room. I asked them why and the said that another couple will be coming in on Saturday. I said no I wasn't about to change rooms once we unpacked because we weren't timeshare and we booked it through Orbitz. A manager was contacted and finally they checked with the main office and they gave us a room so that we wouldn't have to move. Than they wouldn't give us maid service because it was a timeshare resort and we told them we weren't time share but it took two days and a lot of calls before they realized their error. At check out they wanted to charge us $50.00 timeshare charge, again I had to argue that we weren't time share. It took some doing but again they realized their error. That was more than we barganed for as we should not have had to have all this aggravation on arrival and during our stay. In all the years of travel we never encountered all the confusion that we encountered on arrival. This experience has surely left a bad taste for future bookings with Orbitz expecialy since the resort told us that you booked this specific room for us.

The staff at check-in were very rude and hasty. We did not have an extra credit card to give the resort, so we had to give ... $250 cash in order to get our room. We had asked if we could stay in the same room the entire 8 nights and they said "NO" because the time share owners were coming in on the 16th of May to occupy the room we were in. So we asked if we could at least stay in the same 5 story building. The answer was "NO". We were to move on the 16th to another room in another building. When we went to the other building that Saturday morning to find our room we found a housekeeper standing outside the room with a disgusting look on his face. His name was [...]. We said that was to be our new room. He said "I don't think you want to stay in that room because it smells like vomit and dead fish. You need to call reservations and assign you a different room." We did and guess what? We were assigned to a room in the previous building 4 doors down from our room. Amazing how that happened!!!Anyway we passed our old room several times that day and night, and guess what? .No one ever came to occupy it. No one helped us with our luggage ever and there were roaches in the kitchen of both rooms. My friend was making a sandwich and one roach walked over her foot. She screamed. The beach was on a hill down to the water and the water was so full of rocks that we could not stand very well. We could not find a spot to go in the water without all the big rocks. So we ended up at the pool. The pools were beautiful and very clean. The only friendly staff were the Housekeeping staff. We went to another resort and found the staff there very friendly and the beach was pristine and no rocks in the water. The staff treated us like royalty and invited us to stay with them the next time we come down to Sint Maarten. We went to the Casinos, several excellent resturants, shopping, touring the island on the Dutch and French sides and the beaches. The people are so kind and thoughtful that live there and very happy that you are there. They are very courteous and helpful and so patient. We love the people on this island and will go back again but not stay at the Pelican Resort. It almost took an act of God to get our $250 back .They tried to charge us with a $50 timeshare fee, and made us sign our life away just to get our money back in cash . It took us 3o minutes arguing with them to check out and get our $250 cash. We rented a car with Budget Care Rental and the service was excellent. We will rent again from them.Any way we did have a wonderful time except for the above mentioned problems. We will never recommend that resort to any of our friends or anyone else.

We spent several days at the resort beach and also visited Friar's and Happy Bay. Both times we have visited St. Martin we ... have stayed in Simpson Bay - it is our favorite part of the island.
