The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The cleaning never stops. Employees were very friendly and eager to please. ... Our room was spotless and towel animals were cute. Not much of a beach, but three pools, two of which are infinity with swim up bars. Great for watching the cruise ships come in and leave. Skip the ferry boat to Playa Del Carmen...shopping is just as good in Cozumel. Would go again.

Great snorkeling right from the hotel. We saw a sea snake, eel, tons of colorful fish, and we swam through a school of clear ... jellyfish. All of the rocks along the beach attract a ton of fish. We stayed at El Cozumeleno before and this place was better all around, especially the snorkeling. There were tons of fish even in the shallow water. They also have a giant rope area blocked off so you can snorkel way out without worrying about getting hit by a boat. The food was also great. They left 2 bottles of water in your room each day. They had different activities to keep you busy. We will definitely be back next year.

Loved the hotel and staff. Very clean, safe, fun, food was good. The bathrooms were as clean as home. We were NOT bothered ... by timeshare people (land sharks) etc. as I read on other posts. General info: The beach is not so good very small. The cruise ships do come and go a lot. We did not hear them; we thought they were interesting to see. The rooms were clean, AC was GREAT! Room service GREAT! The location is right near a few dive shops, and other activities. Cabs were always there to pick up and drop off. We always felt safe and an easy place to get to. The bar was open late; drinks were good, really nice pools. Yes they had three. You sat there and over looked the ships. Singles/couples I would not look to this as a "nightlife" place. We used it as a place to unwind, eat, drink and then move on. We are not the type of couple who can stay at one place no matter the quality. The location was great, close to town. (we had a 4x4 "go cart") It is a quick drive to town, and cabs are always there. $6.00 USD. The "sports bar" was the only option at night. The bars opened at 11:00 a.m. We thought it was too late but, what are you going to do. Family Very nice had a camp for kids, daycare option, always activities. The staff was always with the kids, from what we saw all good, and no complaints. They made the kids happy, many activities always on the white board, finger food was always there, and good! Three pools to choice from, "beach" is an option. Bottom line, when we have kids I would go.

The staff was great. Very friendly. This is our second stay at this hotel. Both times we scheduled messages. Bars always ... accomodating and food was good. I don't like onsite staff badgering to book excursions through them. Also, do not buy roundtrip transfers from orbits. They would not give me our return transfer when i arrived at airport. i was to meet them that evening during my planned activities on MY vacation and they expected me to cancel to meet with them so they can sell me THEIR excursions. I told them no and they were to leave transfers at front desk. I didn't hear from them until the morning we were leaving and finally got my transfer. What a racket. ORBITZ needs to make this stop. Also beds at this hotel are very hard. Also, should not have to pay to use fitness center.

Entertainment Staff was awesome but front desk staff was very rude. It was a nice hotel all though they only have 10 rooms ... with a King size bed and if you didn't get one you were stuck with two fullsize. We relaxed but heard that the snorkeling was awesome and so was the diving. We would return .

Great vacation, wish we had more time
Chris Aug 3, 2009
The hotel was great, a little smaller than other all inclusive resorts we have been to in the past which was nice. The pools ... were great and the snorkeling right in front of the resort was good. The staff was very friendly and always attentive to us. The food was good for the most part, we really enjoyed the mexican restaurant (they make a great coconut encrusted grouper). While at the resort we spent most of our time lounging by the pools or snorkeling. We rented a car one day and visited several beaches around the island, which I highly recommend. Paradise beach was our favorite, we got their early in the morning before anyone else showed up and got to use all of the large inflatable water toys. My only complaints about the resort itself were the lack of beach (there wasn't much of one) and the pool music got a little old after a while. There wasn't much of a night life at the resort but there are bars in restaurants in town that are just a short cab ride away. Compared to other vacations, I think this is about as good as it gets value wise. We really enjoyed it and hope to come back in the future.

MGKC Jul 15, 2009
I have stayed at the Park Royal every year for 10 years and this year (July 2009) was hands down the best. Pricing is beyond ... affordable, the location is prime, the people are very courteous and professional and the place in general is absolutely immacculate at all times. You can tell they take pride in the operation that they run. There was no need for us to leave the Park Royal at all for 3 days: Perfect pools, perfect drinks, perfect food, perfect beach. Perfect.

Be sure to count your change!
B Jul 11, 2009
Every thing was fine except when I tried to change a US $50 for pesos... The front desk clerk quickly slid my $50 into a ... drawer and tried to give me $20 worth of pesos... When I challenged him he told me I gave him a $20 and I asked him to re-open his drawer... He did and we found my $50 in his pile of $20's. His rapid movement to take the $50 off the desk and rapidly slip it into the drawer slamming the drawer as soon as the bill was out of sight made me believe he was practiced at moving the money out of sight quickly. Only then did he start talking to me about how I could be helped. On the last evening, the AC was inoperative in our room.

Great...but not for us!
Jordan Jul 9, 2009
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Park Royal Hotel from July 4th-July 8th. Great time to stay because it wasn't nearly as ... busy as it would have been during a peak season/week. We arrive at the hotel at around 1:30 on check-in day and we did not get our room until almost 4. We were a bit bothered by this considering how hot it was and how overdressed and tired we were. Anyway.. The grounds/room were spotless and the hotel staff very friendly (although many would hound you about buying things). This is a very family oriented place to stay and I my boyfriend and I would have prefered a more adults only/quieter atmosphere. Also, the hotel is located right across the street from the cruise ship docks making it's location on the busier side. We rode a scooter further down the same side of the island and passed many private, quiet all-inclusive resorts that we would have rather stayed at. So if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway I wouldn't suggest staying here. If you're all about activities and mingling, this is a great place for that!
Traveler type: Couples
The hotel tries to get you to rent scooters from them and they'll give you a "great" discount...only if you listen to their time-share pitch! Walk right across the street to a little restaurant called Ernesto's and they rent scooters daily for $20. Also, right next door to here is a scuba shop where we rented snorkeling equipment for the day. Don't waste your time or money on group snorkeling tours. Rent the equipment and take the scooter down the main "beach" road and go yourself..it's great!

Great vacation for adult family
wattfo Jul 5, 2009
Overall our trip was great. The beach, seaside pools, and snorkeling were our favorite parts. The breakfast buffet was a nice ... start then down to the beach/pools for the day. We rented a car and spent a day checking out the different "beach bars" and the snorkeling at our hotel was the best we found. The Italian restaurant (reservations required)was the best food in the place by far. The staff was very nice. Only complaints were that the pools closed at 7:00 (way before sunset) and the bars that were supposed to be open until 7:00 really closed about 6:00-6:30. Also, if you don't get a room above the 4th floor you can't see the beach from your room. We asked frequently to be moved up a few floors but were told nothing was available when we could see a number of rooms were empty which was frustrating. All and all a great trip for you family of four with 2 adult children. The all inclusive was definitley the way to go for us.

we enjoyed our stay very much staff was always working hard to keep place clean, food and drinks almost anytime you wanted ... them we did alot of scuba diving which is why we stayed in cozumel water is better than cancun for diving but the beach areas are smaller in cozumel.the hotel was very nice, they gave you 2 bottles of water daily when they cleaned rooms. the time share people asked often about doing tours but usually would leave you go after you said no. We wished the rooms would have had king size beds instead of 2 double beds but other than that our 2 week stay was great we plan to stay there again soon if possible food at the italian and mexican restaurants which good the buffets always had a good selection.snack bars had hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwich, pizza and nachos everyday from 11 am to 6 pm

this hotel was wonderful, but people who are traveling to this area really need to do their research following the hurricane. we could have very easily been screwed and never known it. make a contact with someone local because many of the facilities in the cozumel resorts have lost facilities after the hurricane and the hotels are not upfront about updating their websites.
