Excellent Hotel for the price

Ray from Virginia Beach Nov 5, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

My ten day trip to Las Vegas involved seeing friends, playing tennis, and attending a concert. The location of the Palace ... Station made getting around to everything very easy. I have stayed at the Palace Station before, usually in the courtyard rooms, but this time stayed in a tower room. I enjoyed the tower room even more than the courtyard rooms and will stay there again. I used the exercise room seven times while I was there ... and it was always clean with plenty of towels and water available.

Rent a car if in Vegas for more than a few days. Rental car rates are inexpensive, and having a vehicle makes getting around a lot easier. Using I-15 to by-pass some of the traffic on the Las Vegas Blvd is helpful ... but the longer you are in Vegas the more you will learn how to get around and avoid traffic.

Good value for the price.

The price of the rooms is very reasonable, except they tack on an "occupancy" fee of about $18 per night, nearly doubling the ... cost of the stay. You're also on the far north end of the strip, so it's best if you have a car, otherwise you need to add $8 to $10 for a cab each way, unless you really like to walk (which I don't). Also, always upgrade to the tower rooms, they are apparently newer and worth the extra money. The casino is fine (nothing spectacular), and the restaurants are fine (except the buffet which is hardly worth the $12 cost). This is the second time I've stayed here with a car and it's well worth it. The staff is friendly, the rooms modern and clean, and it's a good overall place to stay.

I took other reviewer's advice and booked a tower room. It met all of my expectations. The most outstanding feature of this ... hotel was the friendly, helpful staff. I stayed five nights and every staff member I met was courteous, kind and considerate. Additionaly, several went out of their way to assist me. I also enjoyed the wonderful made to order omelets at the breakfast buffet and the "chips and salsa" (includes hot bean dip) at the Casino's Mexican Restaurant.

Great Deal!

Great deal! We stayed for 2 nights and it was only 20.99 dollars a night (W/O Tax). Free shuttle service to/from the airport ... and the strip was a plus! $14.99 (W/O Tax) resert fee seemed little too high but it includes a few good amenities. We stayed in a tower room, which was very clean, modern and comfortable. We will definatelly go back there again!

Great room, good value

Bargainhunter Oct 21, 2009

Great tower room. Nicely renovated. We didn't spend much time in the casino itself. The pools, located in the Courtyard ... part of the hotel, were small and very motel-like. The Courtyard and the Tower are night and day, in terms of cleanliness, modern features. The Tower rooms are WELL worth it. We ate at one of the big restaurants there- the food was cold and tasteless, but the service was very friendly.

The good, the bad,and the really ugly

Taz Oct 19, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The Hotel was very easy to get in/out,close to strip,Great location. When booking the hotel,I requested a smoking room, when I ... got there it was $20.00 extra per nite, not listed anywhere on the ad. Female/front desk became very rude, I asked for Mgr.and he did cut it to $10.00 after I showed him the copy of the ad. and argued.Other hotels do not charge. The smoking room smelled so bad, even to me a smoker!Usually they spray smoking rooms with smoke relief or leave the fan on, this was like walking into an ashtray, filled! I thought the charge was to spray! They must spray halls or good exhaust, when you got off elevator you never knew you were on a smoking floor and the ashtray had cigarettes in it outside the elevator, so they must treat or spray the halls, just not the rooms. The rooms however, were nicely cleaned, bathroom spotless We enjoyed the casino and got the casino pass.I would reccomend the Hotel to my non-smoking friends, but not to smokers. We did visit friends, saw some shows and enjoyed the buffet. Margaritas at Coba are great. We came from Chicago, stopped in Seattle, smoking room,no charge and only faint smell of smoke. We always stay in smoking rooms, none ever smelled that bad.I did go buy a can of Oust and sprayed the room, a half hour before retiring!

Pay the extra 10 bucks for the tower, well worth it. We were given a free upgrade to a small suite. The room was clean and ... spacious. The 3rd floor is all none smoking and smelled clean. The casino has inexpensive and fun bingo. Warning: The hotel does charge a nightly unnegotiable fee that makes no sense and should be considered part of the cost.

We really enjoyed our stay at the palace station for the price we paid. The only complaint I have towards the hotel was the ... extra hotel service fees that we had to pay for. I think it was $16.79/night and we stayed their 3 nights. This fee was for internet and phone usage that we didn't even incur. Its charged to you no matter if you use it or not.

Time savers hint

Rent a car if in Vegas for more than a few days. Rental car rates are inexpensive, and having a vehicle makes getting around a lot easier. Using I-15 to by-pass some of the traffic on the Las Vegas Blvd is helpful ... but the longer you are in Vegas the more you will learn how to get around and avoid traffic.

Nightlife hint, Long Walk

Don't stay here or at least in the courtyard rooms. Choose the tower instead. Shuttle runs every hour and a half to the strip so it is easier to get a cab. I would recommend that you stay on the tripor downtown.
