Hotel was good over all. Didn't like the fact that we paid for ocean view and the only way you could see it was from the one ... corner of the balcony when they have rooms that face it directly. That was disappointing. Other than that everything was good.

The Pacific Beach Hotel is a large place, rooms are somewhat dated, but clean and comfortable. The view from the balcony was ... great, beach looking one way and mountains looking the other. Parking garage attached to hotel and convienient, hotel food was very good, but pretty expensive. Breakfast buffett for two was $38.00, discount tickets are available but you have to ask about them. Very nice place to use as a base to go back to each night to sleep, then go out each day and explore the island.

We didn't spend much time in the room, but for what it was, it was clean and comfortable. The location was great (right ... across the beach) and convenient. Parking was $15 extra, which wasn't TOO bad, though I wish it could be cheaper. My only qualm with this place was that this is the only hotel I've stayed at (and I've stayed at quite a few around the world) that charges for the use of the safe. $3 per day, to be exact. It's not a lot of money, but when everyone else offers it as a free amenity, it just makes you feel like they're trying to milk you where they can.

Halloween Weekend at Pacific Beach Hotel
FEDz Nov 2, 2009
Although the stay was short (2 days), the hotel met my needs. Location couldn't get any better. Towards the end of Kalakaua ... Ave. across the beach which was perfect for walking down Kalalaua Ave through Waikiki for the Halloween festivities. Service was friendly. Only thing, Housekeepers should wait for an answer to their knock before opening door while someone is showering, but even the apology was friendly. :)

It was the perfect location! The staff were wonderful! The restaurant was excellent! The waiters and waitresses were superb! ... The food was delicious! the room was nice and they had soap, body wash, shampoo ,toothbrushes and toothpaste furnished(this is nice since the restrictions the airlines put on stuff like this). The room had all we needed and then some! The Housekeeping staff were great too! We will definitely stay here on our next visit!

Great weekend getaway
Just retired Ruby Oct 21, 2009
The Pacific Beach Hotel is located in the best spot in Waikiki Beach, among other 4-5 star hotels that costs twice as much. ... While unassuming on the outside, the service was great and the stretch of beach right outside has a barrier made up of large stones. That made for a safe swimming area for when one wants to just relax, and also an area just outside the barrier where one can swim with or against the famous Waikiki tide. My wife loves to shop, and within 5 minutes there are so many shops she can go to shop. The parking, at $ 15 per day during off season that has unlimited leave and entry, is reasonable and convenient for us. All together it is a very relaxing vacation for us. It is great for those who has been to Honolulu many times, doesn't want to do too much sight-seeing or other activities, and enjoys dipping in the ocean.

We recommend eating in the food court of the Ala Moana shopping complex. It is a short drive from the hotel or a short taxi ride, but it has many selections, the cost reasonable for Hawaii, and generally very good quality.

Love the PBH!!!!!
younglove Oct 15, 2009
We stayed at the PBH in September for our HONEYMOON!! We have no complaints. The rooms were clean and we were given two ... complimentary beach towels every day. The room has a small refrigerator and microwave that we kept snacks in. We had an ocean front room and you cannot beat the view!! Literally, steps away from the beach. We opened the lanai doors every morning and listened to the waves crashing or watched the sunrise. Location is central to everything, just a short walk to shops, restaurants. The breakfast buffet was fabulous and we had the seafood buffet one nigh which was good. We would eat in the ocenarium for the view of the fish and sting rays! Dollar rental car is in the lobby along with ABC store and other shops! The hotel is located across the street from the Moana Surfrider and between the Hyatt and the Mariott. Same location but cheaper. We had a great time and we will definitley go back!

When we got there they assigned a view to city, but it was on the 3rd floor, with a window viewing the roof to the next floor ... down. We request transfer to another room and we were moved behind the elevator and didn't sleep all night , sounds like we were on the NY Subway. I decided to take surf lessons and paid for private lessons. Most others did group lessons from the same surf lesson shop. Walking out, I thought to myself that I really don't need someone watching me the whole time. But, it worked well because a private instructor really helps you get in on the good waves. I caught a bunch more waves and kept away from most of the group. If you ever watched surf lessons you'll find that collisions can happen on just about every wave... not major crashes but enough to ruin your experience after a few run-ins.
